Chapter 634: Ron's Attitude
Chapter 634: Ron's Attitude
The next morning, as students passed through the entrance hall, they noticed a large notice on the bulletin board by the Great Hall.
Hogwarts High Investigator's Order
"To regulate school activities, all student organizations, associations, teams, or clubs must register with the High Investigator (Professor Umbridge)..."
Students heading to the Great Hall for breakfast gathered around the bulletin board, puzzled by this sudden regulation and concerned about its potential impact on their own clubs.
Kyle, standing outside the crowd, also spotted the notice.
It seemed that Professor Umbridge had her own ideas and didn't adopt his suggestions entirely.
However, there were some changes; she initially wanted to disband all clubs and reorganize them, but now, registration was all that was required.
Although there was no fundamental difference, it would save a significant amount of time.
Next to the bulletin board was a table where Filch sat, with a stack of parchments in front of him.
"Anyone who needs to register, come here! I'm in charge of this!" Filch announced loudly, his tone carrying a hint of pride.
"Leaders, write down the names of all members, activity times, and locations."
"No activities can take place until registration is complete."
In front of him was a long line of students, stretching from the bulletin board to the front gate.
Cedric was among them, standing at the very front of the line, and as Kyle looked over, he had just finished writing.
"They've included Quidditch in this," Cedric said, hurrying over to Kyle and emphasizing the words 'Quidditch team.'
"But it's fine now; everyone knows about the Quidditch team. There's nothing to hide, just write down the names."
Shortly after, Hermione rushed over.
"Hey, did you see that..."
"The notice in the entrance hall."
"Do you think she might know something?" Harry asked in a hushed tone.
"That's for sure," Kyle replied, "but rest assured, she doesn't know the specifics, so there's no need to worry."
"Then why did she post this notice?"
"Because those who dare to register won't have any issues," Hermione stated directly. "This way, if she catches us gathering again, she can legitimately charge us with a crime.
"But she'll have to catch us first."
Harry breathed a sigh of relief, just as he was about to say something, someone tugged at his arm.
It was Ron.
"Let's go, Harry," he said, his face stern, as if eager to leave. "Don't reveal too much; it might be someone who snitched."
As he spoke, he glanced at Kyle intentionally at Kyle.
"Well..." Harry hesitated but eventually gave in to Ron and was pulled away.
"Sorry, Kyle," Hermione said angrily. "Ron is acting this way because of his brother's situation. I think there must be some misunderstanding between you two."
"I know," Kyle replied.
Ever since the news of his "fight" with the Weasley brothers spread, he anticipated this reaction.
Only they themselves knew the truth of the matter, and even Hermione was unaware of it.
This was to prevent them from accidentally revealing the truth. After all, Kyle had seen Harry and Ron "conspiring loudly" in the corridors more than once, and if they knew the truth, the risk would be considerable.
Hermione, seeing Kyle's nonchalant attitude, suddenly asked, "You must have some plan, right?"
"Why do you say that?" Kyle inquired.
"Because Fred and George haven't said anything about it yet."
"Hermione said.
"It's nothing serious for Madam Pomfrey; she can fix it in minutes, but they'd rather walk around with their faces covered all day."
"It's almost like... they're deliberately reminding others that they fought with you. It's not normal."
"Who knows..." Kyle was noncommittal. "Maybe it's also possible that they think that look is more attractive."
"Come on, Hermione, we still have classes later," Ron's voice called out from a distance.
Hermione frowned and, seeing that Kyle had no intention of explaining, prepared to leave.
"Oh, right." Cedric suddenly remembered something. "You should remind Angelita about the announcement. It includes the Quidditch team as well, so she should find time to register, or you might not be able to apply for training on the pitch."
"Okay, I got it," Hermione said, then returned to the Gryffindor table and sat down next to Harry.
"That girl is really smart." Cedric smiled. "She's almost guessed it, why don't you tell her the truth? The suggestion to self-study Defense Against the Dark Arts also came from her, so telling her should be fine."
This work is uploaded by 69 Books Bar.
"If it was just her, there wouldn't be a problem." Kyle said, "But she'll definitely tell Harry and Ron about it later, and the fewer people who know about this, the better."
"That makes sense." Cedric nodded in agreement. "But don't you care about Ron's attitude towards you?"
"What's there to care about?" Kyle laughed, "And strictly speaking, the worse his attitude towards me, the better. It makes it more believable, and Umbridge will be more convinced that we've truly fallen out.
"If he knew the truth, he might not be able to act like this."
"That's true."
At that moment, a large group of owls flew into the Great Hall, and the conversation about Ron ceased.
Kyle, as usual, glanced at the Prophet that had been delivered, and on the front page was a photo of the Weird Sisters, along with news of their upcoming performance in Cornwall.
There was also a story about a wizard who, as a prank, had enchanted an entire street of gardens, causing the plants in the lawns to grow to ten feet in height overnight.
And finally, there was the Prophet's word game.
All of these were insignificant news, not a single familiar name, indicating that nothing major had happened in the wizarding world recently, and everything was peaceful.
Kyle put down the newspaper and looked up to see Filch entering, handing a stack of thick parchment to Umbridge at the teacher's table.
"When did she arrive?"
"Just now, a minute ago." Cedric said, looking at Filch, who took the parchment and left.
"It's strange, it seems like Umbridge has handed all this over to Filch."
"What's strange about that?"
"What I mean is, isn't Umbridge the type to show off?" Cedric said, "She's always keen to display her authority in front of students or other professors. This should be a good opportunity.
With just one rule, she could have everyone line up to sign, and it would give her a sense of accomplishment. But why did she give it to Filch?"
"Perhaps she thinks it's a tedious task." Kyle said, "Anyway, her purpose has been achieved, and all that's left is writing down a few names, times, and locations. Anyone could do it.
"And there are quite a few clubs and organizations in the school, almost fifty or sixty. It would be tedious to record them all."
