Chapter 633: Departure (First Update)
Chapter 633: Departure (First Update)
The final event of the Triwizard Tournament concluded, with Hogwarts securing victory through sheer strength, proving that the oldest and most powerful Magic school still lived up to its reputation.
Fudge, who had been notified to attend, was in the Great Hall to present the champion's trophy to Jerry, the winner of the Triwizard Tournament.
As a reward for becoming the champion, Jerry was granted several privileges by the new Headmaster, Snape, which left Fred and George envious. These included the freedom to roam the castle at night without restriction and the ability to browse all the books in the Restricted Section without a professor's permission.
After the award ceremony and celebration, it was nearly midnight, and students and teachers from the three schools returned to their respective quarters.
But this night was destined to be sleepless.
Jerry's incredibly powerful Explosion Charm had shown all the young wizards what true Magic was, giving them enough to discuss all night.
Similarly, the events of the day were enough to keep the Ministry of Magic, the professors from the three schools, and the journalists on edge.
After tomorrow, Jerry would no longer be just a fourth-year student at Hogwarts, the best Quidditch Seeker in history, or a genius in spell modification and invention.
He would also be a powerful Witch, just fourteen years old, whose strength might rival Dumbledore's, a force to be reckoned with in the entire Wizarding world.
However, Jerry was indifferent to all this.
He had only entered the Triwizard Tournament to help his alma mater, Hogwarts, and to support Professor Snape, who had always been kind to him.
He had received so much honor that it no longer moved him.
In the Main World, he was already revered as a god by some humans, and in his ring world, he was truly the god of all life there.
His goal was not the small amount of honor he had gained but to become powerful enough to be beyond the reach of all the Dimensional Deities in the Main World, powerful enough to transcend its limits.
What he had done in the eyes of other Witches was merely a side act, a casual feat while gathering the laws of this world.
The next morning, the young wizards, who had been excited all night, finished their breakfast in the Great Hall and returned to their dormitories to pack their clothes.
Today, they were going home for the summer break.
The professors and students from the other two schools also said their goodbyes to the Hogwarts community after breakfast and left for their respective schools, boarding ghost ships and Thestral-drawn carriages.
"Honk! Honk! Honk!"
At nine-thirty, the whistle of the Hogwarts Express blew.
The train, filled with young wizards, departed from Hogsmeade Station, heading toward London.
The bustling Hogwarts Castle of the previous day suddenly became quiet.
After the train left, all the professors gathered in the Headmaster's Office, as their greatest Witch, Dumbledore, was about to leave Hogwarts.
"Don't be so sad. If you want to chat with this old man, you can visit me at Nurmengard. I'll be living there for the foreseeable future", Dumbledore said with a smile, looking at the professors, especially Hagrid, who was secretly wiping away tears.
He had been at Hogwarts for over sixty years, first as a professor and then as the Headmaster, and all the current professors had been trained by him.
Many of them had come to the school as students, graduated, and then returned as professors.
How could he bear to leave this school where he had spent the majority of his life? But after stepping down as headmaster, he was more concerned with the lingering regret in his heart.
"Severus, Mcgonagall, the future of Hogwarts is in your hands!"
After a round of farewells, Dumbledore summoned his phoenix and, using the phoenix's magical power, transformed into a flame and disappeared from the headmaster's office.
Once Dumbledore left and the other professors dispersed, Snape stood alone in the headmaster's office, finally feeling the heavy weight of responsibility that came with being the headmaster.
Although Dumbledore had handed over the position to him, he had always been around the school, so Snape hadn't truly felt the weight of it.
It wasn't until Dumbledore's departure that he truly understood the responsibilities of being a headmaster.
"Cough, Severus, I plan to visit New York during the holidays. Would you like to join me for a vacation there?"
Just as Snape was looking out the window, feeling the weight of his new role, a familiar voice sounded from behind him.
It was Potions Professor Lily Foster, who had returned after leaving.
Looking at Professor Foster, whose eyes seemed a bit distant, Snape paused for a full ten seconds before a gentle smile spread across his face.
"I think that would be wonderful!"
Ever since Lily Evans was killed by Voldemort fourteen years ago, his life had been a cycle between Hogwarts and Spinner's End.
He spent the school year at Hogwarts and the holidays at Spinner's End.
Like his closed-off heart, he had been unwilling to leave and explore elsewhere.
However, during this time, Foster's warmth, generosity, and her decade-long travels to various countries in search of rare herbs and potion research had gradually opened his heart.
His feelings for Foster were no longer based solely on her resemblance to Lily.
Fourteen years had passed, and perhaps it was time for him to move on.
Around three or four in the afternoon, the Hogwarts Express slowly pulled into Platform 9¾ at King's Cross Station.
Young wizards disembarked one by one, saying their goodbyes with reluctance before being picked up by their witch parents.
Similarly, Sirius, the Weasleys, and the Grangers were waiting at the station entrance for Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
Unlike the awkward and disharmonious atmosphere brought by the Dursleys in previous years, this year, when Jerry and the others emerged from the station, they found the adults chatting amicably.
Sirius, having become an Auror, had become a colleague of Arthur, who was very interested in Muggle affairs and got along well with Mr. Granger. Thus, they were all chatting happily while waiting for their young wizards.
"Come visit the Burrow during the holidays!"
Ron, Ginny, and the Weasley brothers climbed into Arthur's magic car, which activated its invisibility mode and quietly disappeared into the sky.
Then Harry waved goodbye and left with Sirius's Apparition.
"I'll come find you!"
Hermione whispered this in Jerry's ear before shyly diving into the car.
She had now learned the Occlumency Shield that Jerry had taught her, which allowed her to block the trace the Ministry of Magic had left in her body.
So she could open a portal at any time and directly appear in Jerry's room at the Leaky Cauldron during the holidays.
