Chapter 631: You Guys Are Real Money-Making Geniuses!
Chapter 631: You Guys Are Real Money-Making Geniuses!
George gave an embarrassed smile and didn’t contradict Hermione.
Fred, however, asked curiously,
“Ivan, who do you plan to invite to the Dance? Luna from Ravenclaw? Or...”
At this point, Fred’s gaze inadvertently shifted to Hermione, realizing he had misspoken and didn’t continue.
Hermione, holding the book in her arms, felt extremely anxious, trying hard to act as if she didn’t care. But her brown eyes kept glancing at Ivan.
She really wanted to know who Ivan would choose as his dance partner and whether it could be her.
At the thought, Hermione’s heart raced, but she quickly reminded herself that she was just a bookworm who didn’t know how to dress up, unlike Fleur, who was so attractive. She was at best a bit clever...
Just as the young witch was caught in her doubts, Ivan’s voice sounded in her ear.
“Hermione, would you like to be my dance partner for this year’s Christmas Ball?”
“Me?” Hermione’s eyes widened.
Although she had hoped and even expected Ivan to say this, when it actually happened, she was thrown into a state of panic. It took her a while to calm down before she mustered the courage to ask,
“Why? You’re the Champion and just defeated a Dragon. Lots of girls want to invite you, like that Beauxbatons Champion, Fleur. And Parvati, I often hear her talking about you in the dormitory. She’s very pretty, and then there’s... that Ravenclaw...”
“Lots and lots of people like you...” Hermione’s voice grew softer, and her gaze became increasingly uncertain.
Over the years, Ivan had always been popular at school. From his first year when he effortlessly killed a Troll and exposed the Dark Wizard Krum, he had become a legend at Hogwarts.
Hermione often overheard girls in the Gryffindor Girls' Common Room whispering about Ivan.
Yesterday’s competition had only heightened his popularity among the girls, pushing it to its peak!
It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that most of the young witches in the school were hoping to receive Ivan’s invitation—they considered it a matter of great honor, and some were even willing to take it further!
“Yeah, they might be great, but I want to invite you to be my dance partner. Is that so wrong?” Ivan interrupted her, smiling.
Hermione’s heart skipped a beat, a wave of joy flooding her mind, making her feel lightheaded. She almost blurted out an immediate yes.
But the teasing looks from those around her made her blush, and the words on the tip of her tongue changed.
“Can you give me a bit of time to think...” Hermione stammered.
Ivan scratched his head in frustration, not understanding what there was to think about.
But at least Hermione hadn’t refused outright, which relieved him. Inviting a girl to a dance was something he had never done before.
Seeing that there was no drama to be had, George and Fred turned their attention to Harry, asking curiously, “What about you, Harry? Who do you plan to invite as your dance partner?”
“I don’t know,” Harry replied, looking flustered.
“Goodness, you can’t still be undecided?” George exclaimed, “I suggest you hurry up. Many people plan to ask their dance partners today, and if you wait too long, all the good girls will be taken!”
Fred hurriedly nodded, putting on an especially concerned expression.
Harry hesitated for a moment, his gaze involuntarily shifting towards the Ravenclaw table. In fact, he had long decided on the girl he wanted to invite—Cho Chang from Ravenclaw. He just hadn't mustered the courage to make a move, fearing rejection.
"George, Fred, why are you so concerned about us finding a dance partner?" Ivan suddenly asked.
"How can you say that, Ivan? This is the concern of a best friend!" George said, sounding indignant.
However, before Ivan and Harry could be moved, Fred immediately undercut him, revealing that they had recently launched a new paid service.
Ivan rolled his eyes, knowing it couldn't be that simple.
"What kind of service?" Harry asked, curious.
"Ahem... George... It looks like we need to give them a demonstration!" Fred cleared his throat and pulled out a flower basket from under the long table.
George, meanwhile, produced an accordion from somewhere and got into position.
The two exchanged a glance and then nodded solemnly.
"Oh, beautiful maiden, you shine like the moon, clear as a lake..." Fred sang with deep emotion, his voice nearly off-key, as he kept reaching into the flower basket to grab petals and toss them high into the air.
As the petals danced, George slowly played the accordion, accompanying Fred's singing.
However, since both were amateurs, their entire performance could only be described as a nuisance. Nevertheless, they continued with great enthusiasm for several minutes before finally stopping, still unsatisfied.
"How was it? Isn't it full of atmosphere? Just one Galleon, and we'll make sure you can invite the girl of your dreams!" George said with a grin.
Ivan looked at the brothers and didn't know how to respond.
If their singing was a bit better, they might actually be little geniuses at making money...
But as it stood... Ivan glanced at them, thinking that only a mad person would pay to have them cause trouble.
Harry's thoughts were similar. After being harassed by George and the others, he asked in a speechless tone, "Have you guys found your own dance partners yet, George? Fred?"
"Good question! Hold on..." Fred realized it was time to show his skills and turned to shout at a group of girls.
"Hey, Angelina, would you like to attend the Dance with me?"
Due to their earlier performance, many girls were already sneaking glances at them, and Angelina was no exception.
Hearing Fred call her name, Angelina's cheeks turned red. She teased, "I'll have to think about it. Will you shower me with flowers, sing, and play the accordion?"
"Of course, no problem, that's all for you! If you like it, I can do it every day!" Fred promised, thumping his chest, and then squeezed past a few girls to sit next to Angelina, throwing a handful of petals into the air and starting to sing with great emotion again.
George quickly stood beside him and began playing the accordion...
Angelina laughed happily and, after Fred's repeated pleading, agreed on the spot.
The other girls watching didn't mind Fred's off-key singing; instead, they looked at Angelina with envy.
