Chapter 631: Lanchi's Rival, the Silver-Haired Girl
Chapter 631: Lanchi's Rival, the Silver-Haired Girl
"The first-place prize for this game is a pair of magical cards, bracelets made of skywood and gold." Juliana narrowed her eyes, gazing at the list on the outdoor screen behind the stage and reciting, "Even just for participating, you'll receive a limited-edition Animal Forest chocolate gift box as a memento of the event."
She murmured to herself.
These exclusive events often offered attractive rewards in the form of Gold Bee Coins, along with special prizes that couldn't be purchased with mere currency.
"..."
Noticing that Juliana was staring intently in a particular direction, Loren guided her closer, hand in hand.
Among the listed prizes, a set of adorable animal chocolates caught their attention, specially marked with a cute icon.
"Do you want it?" Loren asked, noticing Juliana's gaze fixed on the activity stage.
"No," Juliana shook her head. While she didn't expect to win the top prize, given its high difficulty, she believed that the participation award should be within their reach.
The Dating Assistant might like this, she thought. After all the help she received today, Juliana felt it would only be appropriate to bring a token of gratitude the next time they visited Boss Cat's restaurant.
As Loren gazed at Juliana's blushing face and her lightly trembling eyelashes, he recalled a piece of advice from his Dating Instructor:
"This kind of reaction indicates that she wants it, but not to the extent of inconveniencing you. Depending on the situation, consider if you can help her obtain it. Ignoring it won't decrease her affection, but if you notice and make an effort, regardless of success, her affection will definitely increase. She'll feel that you care about her."
"Juliana, let's give it a try," Loren suggested.
"Huh?" Juliana turned her face in surprise, looking up at Loren.
This was a game exclusively for couples, and she wasn't sure if Loren had realized that.
But seeing the determination in his eyes, Juliana's cheeks flushed.
"Mmm," she nodded slightly, lowering her head.
Together, they walked towards the activity area.
Wait, that game...
To prevent cheating, some activity areas in the amusement park were programmed with magic that interfered with communication spells.
Leaning against a stone pillar near the entrance of the amusement park's courtyard, Lanchi tapped his earpiece, only to hear static.
He quickly stepped away from the pillar and looked in the direction where Loren and Juliana had disappeared.
The reason why this game offered such high rewards yet saw few participants was that the challenge itself was notoriously cruel.
It involved couples answering a series of sharp and probing truth questions, with their true feelings revealed by a magic conductor.
Rumor had it that even the most loving couples who played this game had a 90% chance of breaking up afterward! Embarrassment, social death, and even physical fights could potentially ensue!
However, due to its sensational program effects, whenever this game was announced, it attracted large crowds of spectators, and the entire event was broadcast on magic screens throughout the Gold Bee Amusement Park.
Lanchi immediately picked up the cat and sprinted after Loren.
And so, a 100-meter dash began! According to the Public Security Management Law, the use of advanced magic or entering a combat state was strictly prohibited in crowded urban areas!
"Meow, what's going on?" Boss Cat felt the rush of wind on his cheeks as he sensed the commotion.
This was the first time Lanchi had ever been this flustered.
It seemed that his earlier words were coming true—Loren had only learned to mimic Lanchi's actions without truly understanding the underlying principles.
"Playing that game will likely spell their doom today!" Lanchi muttered to Boss Cat as he ran.
However, when he looked up again, Loren and Juliana were already approaching the gate.
"Oh! We finally have a brave couple tonight!" The event manager noticed the approaching pair and exclaimed delightedly, pressing her hands together in front of her face.
"We're not a couple yet..." Juliana explained shyly, her steps faltering slightly.
"Since we're already here, why not give it a shot? They say that couples who make it to the end of this trial are destined for a lifetime of happiness together."
The event manager whispered enticingly with a mischievous smile.
"Alright then."
Juliana glanced at Loren, who didn't seem to object, so she nodded.
The event manager smiled in satisfaction.
Finally, some action to liven up her broadcast tonight.
And what could be more entertaining than watching couples squirm and make fools of themselves?
She relished the thought of tearing apart yet another happy couple strolling through Gold Bee Amusement Park.
Just as Loren and Juliana were about to reach the gate, a hurried figure rushed forward, attempting to stop them.
However, it seemed that two individuals, one on the left and the other on the right, were trying to cut in line in front of them, resulting in a collision that sent them tumbling to the ground.
Lanchi felt as if he had crashed into a mountain, his vision fading in and out. When his eyes finally cleared, he found himself tangled up with a girl with silver hair.
She seemed to be in a hurry as well.
"Are the two of you here to participate?"
The event manager, dressed in a bee costume, looked at them inquiringly.
While he didn't mind having more participants, he was growing annoyed at the commotion they were causing, blocking the entrance for the couple behind them.
"No."
Lanchi and the silver-haired girl answered simultaneously.
After their response, they glanced at each other.
The silver-haired girl noticed the black cat perched on Lanchi's head.
Even though Lanchi's appearance had changed, she recognized that cat instantly.
Lanchi, on the other hand, examined the girl before him.
Her long silver hair was braided, and she wore a pair of glasses, a white dress, and an expression that seemed cold and aloof, giving her an air of solitary elegance, like a literary scholar.
There was no mistaking it—this was Talia!
Lanchi's heart skipped a beat.
But he didn't have time to ponder why she was here or how they had collided.
His priority now was to save Loren from this disastrous game!
Lanchi turned and tried to signal to Loren with his eyes, attempting to convey a warning.
However, Loren looked back at him, confused and unaware of the danger that lay ahead.
Lanchi felt a sense of futility, as if he were trying to explain a complex concept to someone who didn't understand.
He couldn't expose Loren's secret of hiring a dating coach in front of Juliana, yet he had to stop Loren from proceeding. But if he didn't act soon, Juliana would surely notice him loitering around.
Fortunately, Juliana also looked confused, her attention seemingly focused on Talia.
"If you're not participating, could you please step aside and let the couple behind you take your place?" The event manager asked, a hint of annoyance in her voice.
She was thrilled to finally have some new participants, but these two were causing a scene and might scare away the couple waiting behind them.
As the crowd's curious gazes intensified, the two of them blocking the entrance grew increasingly flustered.
"Talia, would you like to play this game with me?" Lanchi asked through gritted teeth, not expecting a positive response.
His only hope now was to demonstrate the game's dangers to Loren, showing him how disastrous it could be for couples.
If he and Talia, two people with no chemistry whatsoever, played this game, they would undoubtedly fail miserably, ending the game quickly.
However, he didn't hold high hopes for Talia agreeing to his proposal.
"Okay."
Talia nodded tensely, her expression suggesting that Lanchi's suggestion had come as a relief, almost as if it were an opportunity she'd been waiting for.
