Chapter 631: Dumbledore's Secret Force
Chapter 631: Dumbledore's Secret Force
When Kyle arrived at the Dark Arts Defense Office, there wasn't a soul around.
He knocked on the door.
"Come in," Umbridge's voice called from within.
Kyle pushed the door open and entered.
The office looked the same as the last time he was there, filled with various exquisite handicrafts. However, the cat plates on the wall seemed to have increased in number.
"I'm disappointed..."
As the office door closed, Umbridge's previously cheerful expression instantly transformed into a peculiar look of disappointment or satisfaction directed at Kyle.
"I was here in this office yesterday, waiting for you to tell me something interesting, but you never showed up.
"This might prove that you're not as loyal as you claimed and are still siding with Dumbledore."
"I don't understand what you're talking about, Professor," Kyle said in surprise. "Should I know something?"
"Oh?" Umbridge chuckled softly. "Well, I can give you a little hint.
"As far as I know, yesterday in Hogsmeade, dozens of people went to the Pig's Head Pub. Can you tell me what they were doing there?"
"What about that?" Kyle asked in astonishment. "How would I know?"
"You're lying!" Umbridge's voice gradually turned cold. "As far as I know, many of your friends were among them. How could you not know, or perhaps you were there too."
"That's impossible," Kyle shook his head. "I've never been to the Pig's Head Pub, and I didn't know about any gathering there."
"It seems you're not planning to tell the truth." Umbridge's fake smile returned, and she spoke in a coquettish tone, "How about I put you in detention for another week for lying to a professor? I think by then, you'll be willing to tell the truth."
"I'm telling the truth," Kyle said, his expression unchanged. "After I arrived in Hogsmeade yesterday, I went to Elegance Wizardwear, and Miss Daphne Greengrass from Slytherin can testify that she was also in the store at the time."
"And after that?" Umbridge asked. "I recall the gathering wasn't early. You could have gone to the pub after leaving the store."
"I stayed at the Three Broomsticks the whole time and didn't go anywhere else," Kyle said.
Umbridge glanced at him suspiciously. "Is there anyone who can prove that?"
"Anyone who went to the Three Broomsticks can," Kyle replied.
"I was sitting right across from the door, so many people should have seen me."
Umbridge paused slightly, seemingly not expecting Kyle to say that.
"You're not lying?"
"Of course not," Kyle said. "Madam Rosmerta can also testify that I didn't leave until noon."
"Or you can ask those who went to the Pig's Head Pub if I was there or not."
Umbridge fell silent for a moment.
When she looked up again, her smile became even more forced, making anyone who saw it feel uncomfortable.
"No need. I'm sure I believe you." Her tone was odd, with a hint of mockery. "However, your so-called friends don't seem to feel the same way."
"Ah, yes," Kyle said, suppressing the urge to punch her in the face. "I didn't expect them to hide so much from me. It's truly disappointing."
"Well, I need you to help the Ministry investigate this matter.
Umbridge continued to smile and said, "Dumbledore chose to hold the meeting at the Pig's Head Pub, and those people also chose the Pig's Head Pub. Perhaps there's a connection between them."
"Is it possible that this is just a coincidence?" Kyle asked.
"Absolutely not," Umbridge said firmly, "I don't believe in such coincidences. Those people must be Dumbledore's secret force among the students."
Kyle remained silent, mainly because he didn't know what to say... He rarely spoke the truth, and Umbridge still didn't believe him.
Dumbledore chose the Pig's Head Pub because he felt it was a safe place among his own people. Cedric and the others went there purely because there were fewer people, and they wouldn't be overheard by others.
So, this was indeed just a coincidence, nothing more.
And Dumbledore developing students as a secret force?
It has to be said that Umbridge and Rita Skeeter should be able to chat, after all, they both have incomprehensible and outrageous ideas.
However, seeing Umbridge's confident expression, Kyle didn't say anything but just nodded and said, "Leave this to me, Professor. I'll definitely get the information out of them."
"Then it's up to you," Umbridge said, "Don't let me down."
"I'll investigate this thoroughly," Kyle said, "For the Ministry of Magic."
Umbridge's expression immediately became serious.

"For the Ministry of Magic!"

"So, you're going to report us?"
In the afternoon Quidditch training session, Fred asked in the changing room.
This was the Hufflepuff changing room, and according to reason, Gryffindors shouldn't be here, but now that only they were here, it didn't matter.
"In theory, I should do that," Kyle said, wiping the broomstick in his hand, "Handing you over to Umbridge will earn us house points."
"Tell Umbridge what we're going to do, and she'll give you extra points."
"I don't know, but it shouldn't be less than fifty points."
"That's so little?" George complained, feeling that Umbridge was too stingy, "We're Dumbledore's secret force, and it's only worth fifty points? I thought it would be at least a hundred points."
"No wonder you didn't go to the Pig's Head Pub that day," Fred said, "You must have known this was going to happen."
"It wasn't that early," Kyle shook his head, "I only remembered after arriving in Hogsmeade."
"Haha, you're investigating our gathering," George couldn't help but laugh, "She'll never find out the truth."
"But I still don't understand," Cedric said, "Why did Umbridge approach you, and it seems like you have to help her.
Also, what did you mean yesterday when you said you'd stand against Professor Dumbledore?"
"This is part of the plan, and it's hard to explain in a few words," Kyle said, "Just remember that we're now opposing each other... at least let Umbridge believe it's like that."
George's eyes rolled. "So, does that mean... we can beat you up here, after all, that's what we do when facing Slytherin."
"You're right," Fred said with a sinister laugh, "The current situation is three against one, you have no chance of winning."
