Chapter 63: If You Believe This, How Can I Explain?
Chapter 63: If You Believe This, How Can I Explain?
Professor Dumbledore did not anticipate this situation, but he only hesitated for a moment before regaining his composure, his expression remaining unchanged.
"Mr. Seamus Finnigan, I believe I have already explained this clearly. As for why you saw what you saw..."
Dumbledore paused, then smiled faintly. "Perhaps you should ask Mr. Hagrid how he managed it."
As Dumbledore finished speaking, everyone's attention once again focused on Ivan, even drawing curious glances from a few of the professors.
Ivan was completely baffled, never expecting the kind and benevolent old headmaster to throw him under the bus at such a moment. He quickly shot Dumbledore a questioning look, only to see the centenarian wink at him, his eyes clearly telling him to come up with his own explanation.
Ivan felt a wave of frustration. He was sure this was Dumbledore's way of getting back at him for burning down the Forbidden Forest.
Facing the inquisitive gazes of the crowd, Ivan could only shrug and say, "Do you really believe a first-year wizard could tame a dragon, and ride it while it spewed fire in the sky? That's absurd!"
"We do!" George and Fred exchanged a look and said in unison.
If it were anyone else, they might have doubted it, but with Ivan, it was entirely possible!
Ivan rolled his eyes in exasperation. How was he supposed to respond to that?
Fortunately, Ivan's explanation managed to win over the majority of the young wizards.
Indeed, dragons were among the most formidable magical creatures!
Adult dragons were usually much larger than a house, and they were temperamental and vicious. Even professional dragon tamers wouldn't dare ride a dragon, as it would often be seen as an insult by a Fire Dragon.
Of course, they didn't know that Norbert was only a little over a month old; otherwise, they might have thought differently.
With the revelation of the dragon-riding incident, Ivan had to hastily eat a few pieces of cake before leaving the feast, eager to avoid further questioning.
Hermione, Harry, and Ron, who were also in the know, were similarly bombarded with questions. They didn't get a moment's peace until they returned to their dormitory and closed the door, accidentally locking Neville out in the process.
"Ivan, what do we do now? Seamus saw Norbert with his own eyes. Hagrid might be sent to Azkaban!" Harry said worriedly.
Ron nodded. Moreover, many young wizards had heard Norbert's roars, making it impossible to keep the secret.
"Don't worry too much. As long as we send Norbert away before the Ministry of Magic comes to investigate, I believe Professor Dumbledore can handle it. Without concrete evidence, they won't be able to do much", Ivan reassured them.
"I'll write another letter to Charlie. He should be on his way. I'll tell him to come as soon as possible, preferably tomorrow!" Ron immediately sprang into action, pulling out a letter from his drawer and starting to write.
"Make sure not to be too obvious in the letter. Don't even mention the word 'dragon' to avoid it being intercepted along the way", Ivan reminded him.
"Alright, I got it", Ron grumbled, finding it overly cautious but still made the necessary changes.
Once the letter was sent, Harry and Ron breathed a sigh of relief.
Ivan, however, had never been particularly worried. As the most influential figure in the entire magical world, Dumbledore would not let the Ministry of Magic cause any trouble at Hogwarts based on mere rumors and the testimony of a young wizard.
After a secret discussion in the dormitory, they remembered that their roommate Neville was still locked outside. By the time Harry opened the door, the Gryffindor little lions who had been blocking the door had already left, leaving only Neville behind.
Poor Neville looked like a victim of bullying, with a few buttons on his wizard's robe torn off during the earlier commotion. He had no idea what had happened.
Ivan felt very embarrassed and apologized repeatedly before using the Reparo spell to fix the buttons on Neville's robe.
With all the events of the day, Harry and Ron were already exhausted and fell asleep as soon as they touched their beds.
Ivan, however, rested on his bed for a while and then got up again around midnight. There was still one important thing he needed to do.
Before leaving, Ivan remembered that the castle would be on high alert tonight, so he decided to try out a spell he had learned but rarely used—the Disillusionment Charm!
"Disillusionment Charm~" Ivan said, waving his wand and tapping it on his forehead.
Somehow, Ivan felt as if something had enveloped his entire body. It was a cool sensation, like being immersed in water, similar to egg whites but a bit more viscous. However, it did not affect his breathing or movement at all.
This was a completely different feeling from being inside an Invisibility Cloak. There was no sense of isolation or security, but the lack of clothing restrictions made it even more convenient.
Ivan stood by his bed and looked at the small mirror hanging on the right. The mirror reflected the bed and pillow as if it were seeing through his body.
Nighttime wanderings in Hogwarts were already second nature to Ivan, especially with the help of the Marauder's Map. He skillfully avoided the paths of Filch and the patrolling professors.
Incidentally, Ivan checked the map carefully and found that Quirrell's name was not in the castle.
Perhaps he was too afraid to come back?
Ivan speculated.
"I need a place to brew Potions." Ivan stood in front of the carpet in front of the Room of Requirement, pacing back and forth three times before pushing open the door that appeared and entering the hidden Potion storage room.
Compared to the first time he entered, the room had changed significantly. Nearly a third of the empty bottles around the room were now filled with liquids of different colors.
Ageing Potion, Bone-Growing Potion, Cheering Potion, Fire-Protection Potion
These Potions were all brewed by Ivan using ingredients he had stolen from Snape. Since they would have otherwise gone to waste, he decided to use them to increase his proficiency in Potion-making.
In the center of the room, a cauldron held the Bloodline Fusion Potion he had spent an entire semester preparing!
After a long period of settling, the cauldron no longer looked like the chaotic mixture it once was. It was now clear and transparent, just like ordinary water.
If Ivan hadn't witnessed the transformation day by day, he would have thought someone had secretly replaced his Potion.
With a hint of excitement, Ivan took out two test tubes containing magical creature blood from the pocket of his wizard's robe.
