Chapter 63: How Can We Return the Favor?
Chapter 63: How Can We Return the Favor?
"Don't worry, Cedric is fine. Madam Pomfrey said he'll be discharged tomorrow morning," Kyle assured the group upon their return to the Hufflepuff Common Room.
The badgers had been waiting in the Hospital Wing, and now the Quidditch players had joined them, though their expressions were far from cheerful.
The injury to the Seeker, Cedric, had dealt a significant blow to the team's morale. Despite a substitute taking over the role, they had lost by a margin of 160 points, 60 to 220.
At least Cedric's condition wasn't severe, which was some good news.
Jazzer, a Beater, expressed relief, "If that's the case, he'll be able to make it to the afternoon training session."
Jazzer was a seventh-year student whose greatest wish was to bring the Quidditch Cup to Hufflepuff before graduation.
"Damn it!" Captain Harris angrily punched the wall, "This can't be left unaddressed."
"Right, there must be some accountability," someone said indignantly. "That Slytherin player dared to hit our Seeker so openly, clearly not respecting you as a captain. I can't let this slide!"
"Captain," a voice whispered, "I heard that some Slytherin players are going to Hogsmeade tomorrow. What if we..."
"Shut up, Angley," Harris glared at him. "Remember, don't touch the Slytherin players. I'll handle this."
...
Kyle, standing nearby, turned to look at Harris after hearing his words.
This captain was quite level-headed.
Indeed, it wasn't wise to openly provoke the Slytherins at this time.
Currently, Hufflepuff was only ten points behind Slytherin in House points, a very small gap. If Snape found an opportunity, he wouldn't hesitate to deduct a hundred points from Hufflepuff.
Of course, if losing a hundred points meant they could beat them up and vent their frustration, it wouldn't be a big deal. Hufflepuff didn't mind that.
But the worst-case scenario was not getting to hit them and still losing the points; that would be disgusting.
And this possibility wasn't small.
Kyle suspected that a professor might be closely monitoring them, and perhaps even the news of the Slytherin players going to Hogsmeade was leaked by this professor.
Kyle shook his head and stopped listening. He called Michael and Ryan, and the three of them returned to their dormitory.
"Kyle, why can't we talk about this outside?" Michael had been discussing Quidditch with others and was somewhat reluctant to be called back to the dormitory.
Looking at the Wimbourne Wasps poster by Kyle's bed, Michael said with a sense of unfinished business, "I just realized how interesting Quidditch is. Too bad first-years aren't allowed to join the team. Next year, I'm definitely signing up. What about you guys, are you in?"
After speaking, Michael closed his eyes, imagining himself soaring on a broomstick in the Quidditch pitch, catching the Golden Snitch, surrounded by deafening cheers as everyone shouted his name.
This feeling was amazing...
"Wake up, you can sleep later!"
Just then, a cold voice rudely pulled him out of his daydream.
"Let's talk about Quidditch next year; you have more important things to do now."
Kyle waited for Michael to open his eyes and then handed him a bottle of blue potion, "Michael, it's time for your medicine."
Seeing the Mana Suppressant Potion, Michael's mouth dropped open in shock, only to close again.
"Impossible! I just drank it a few days ago!" Michael declared.
"Sixty days ago?" Kyle said, "You're supposed to drink it once every two months, you know."
"It's been two months already? So soon!" Michael still couldn't quite believe it.
The nauseating taste was so memorable, it felt like it had happened just yesterday.
"Maybe you forgot."
Ryan whispered beside him, "It's only been a couple of days since Halloween."
Michael quickly came to terms with reality after hearing this.
Indeed, Halloween had passed, and it had been two months.
"Alright, you're right." Michael said with a wandering gaze, "But I have something to do later, just leave it on the table, and I'll drink it when I get back tonight."
"Okay, then don't forget." Kyle placed the Mana Suppressant Potion on the table.
Michael visibly relaxed upon seeing this, "Don't worry, I won't forget. I'll go to the Library to do my homework now, see you tonight."
As he was about to walk out, Kyle silently drew his wand behind him.
"Bind quickly!"
The tip of the wand shot out a thick rope, tightly binding Michael.

"What are you doing? Stop!"
Michael struggled fiercely, but to no avail. He could only watch helplessly as Kyle approached with the Mana Suppressant Potion.
"Don't come over here! Please don't!"
"Don't blame me, I'm heartbroken too." Kyle sincerely said as he walked up to him, "But I have no choice. This is a task given to me by Headmaster Dumbledore, and I must complete it."
"I'm fine, really."
Michael felt he could still be saved and quickly said, "Professor Sprout said my progress is very fast, and there definitely won't be any more accidents like before."
"That's the Lumos Charm, and we're now learning the Levitation Charm."
"Then I can do it without my wand!" Michael continued to struggle, "I should be able to do it without my wand, right?"
Kyle shook his head.
Not using a wand in a Charms lesson was like playing Quidditch without a broomstick.
Kyle gave Ryan a signal, and he instantly understood. He rolled up his sleeves and approached.
Together, they smoothly forced the Mana Suppressant Potion down Michael's throat, not wasting a drop.
Ryan held the empty bottle, curiously asking, "What is this, anyway?"
"Mana Suppressant Potion, a very precious potion."
"Precious?"
"Yes."
Kyle thought for a moment and said, "Let me put it this way, if it weren't for Hogwarts, you'd have to pay at least fifty Galleons to buy this potion, and that's for the lowest quality."
"Fifty Galleons?!"
Ryan swallowed hard. Wow, his wand had only cost seven Galleons, and this one bottle could buy seven wands?
"But the bottle just now was personally brewed by Professor Snape." Kyle continued, "For a Potion Master like him, if his work were in Diagon Alley, the price would at least double, so one hundred Galleons."
This time, even Michael, who was lying on the ground pretending to be a salted fish, sat up upon hearing this number.
He had just drunk something worth one hundred Galleons?
Michael smacked his lips, and there was even a slight aftertaste.
