Chapter 629: Overwhelmed
Chapter 629: Overwhelmed
As soon as Utko finished speaking, he resolutely crushed the potential-stimulating drug hidden in his teeth with his tongue.
His two teammates, without needing any instruction, also swallowed the drug under the dangerous stimulation, knowing instinctively what to do.
In an instant, their skin turned bright red, red threads appeared in their eyes, their breathing quickened, and their emotions became extremely agitated. They felt their strength increasing, and their senses became sharper than before.
Utko fixed his gaze on Chen Chuan, twirled the metal baton in his hand, and walked towards him. His two teammates immediately followed, stepping forward together.
Six people had their own unique offensive styles.
At this moment, the three of them seemed to move forward in sync, but the teammates on both sides were slightly faster, allowing them to quickly form a flanking attack when they suddenly accelerated.
Utko's focus was at its peak, observing every possible move of Chen Chuan. As they approached a certain distance and his teammates were about to flank from both sides, Utko suddenly accelerated, rushing forward first.
This was a tactical deception maneuver. As long as he could hold the opponent for a moment, his teammates could quickly take their positions. In the Third Limit, a slight delay in reaction and judgment could lead to a disadvantage in combat. They were proficient in this move, and it had proven effective after repeated use.
However, this was all based on the premise that the gap between the two sides was not too significant.
As Utko accelerated forward, Chen Chuan started almost simultaneously, but his speed was faster than Utko by more than a measure. Utko watched helplessly as Chen Chuan passed by his side, unable to change course mid-charge.
In an instant, Chen Chuan reached the right side of one of Utko's teammates. Without using any special techniques, he simply used his body's inertia to lightly draw his hand across the teammate's neck, then spun and rushed towards the other side.
Behind him, blood splattered like blooming flowers.
Utko desperately twisted his body, and by the time he turned around, Chen Chuan was already on the other side, while his other teammate was kneeling on the ground with his head being pressed down. With a light squeeze of his fingers, there was a cracking sound, and the teammate's head shrunk instantly.
Utko's steps suddenly halted, his breathing becoming unusually heavy and rapid.
After releasing his hand, Chen Chuan allowed the corpse under his palm to fall to the ground. In a calm voice, he said, "You are of no value."
The force they employed was a uniform military technique, a standardized method devoid of any personal flair, offering no reference to Chen Chuan.
Utko's fist clenched tightly, his eyes turning bright red, but facing such an exceptionally powerful enemy, he knew he had no chance of winning. Charging forward would only result in the same fate as the fallen teammates on the ground, and escape was out of the question.
His facial expression twitched a few times, and he bent one knee, lowering one leg to the ground, followed by the other. With his head bowed, he said, "Your Excellency, I beg for forgiveness for my mistakes. After arriving here, I have not harmed any of your people. Can you spare me?"
He was not a warrior but an infiltration agent, and surrender held no shame. Moreover, he had already been abandoned by the Linenax Federation, so pleading for mercy carried no burden.
To prove his value, he raised his head and said, "I am a vanguard teammate from the Linenax Federation. They are investigating these waters, and I can help conceal the situation here."
Chen Chuan looked at Talu and asked, "What do you think?"
Talu firmly replied, "I don't trust him."
Chen Chuan nodded.
Seeing this, Utko immediately understood that the two wouldn't let him go. However, he had been gathering strength since he knelt, and now, he burst forth with all his might. The force surged, attempting to propel him forward.
But he wasn't rushing towards Chen Chuan; he was aiming for Talu.
Utko knew the gap between him and Chen Chuan was too wide, making this move futile. Yet, facing Talu, he might be able to take her down with him before dying.
As his force surged, he suddenly felt a wrenching pain throughout his body, and his previously airborne body fell back to the ground.
His body emitted cracking sounds, as if every muscle and organ were being torn apart. He saw his skin cracking open, blood seeping through the fissures, not just there but also from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth, flowing endlessly until it covered the ground.
This...
Was he hit by a force?!
When? Utko suddenly recalled that when Chen Chuan passed by his side, he seemed to have brushed him, was it then?
What kind of force was this?
As the blood oozed from his body, he felt his consciousness weakening, but he refused to give up. He attempted to stand once more, desperately summoning the power within his body.
By now, he knew he couldn't pose a threat to anyone, but he wasn't ready to give in. As he tried to muster his strength, he suddenly reached up and pressed his hand against his skull, his face contorting in fear as he felt the force within him suddenly surge, threatening to burst out of his control.
The next moment, his head exploded with a loud crack, scattering brain matter and blood across the ground.
The headless corpse twitched a couple of times before collapsing to the side.
Chen Chuan's gaze returned to the present, realizing he had just experienced a taste of Chen Bitong's String Vacuum Technique. However, as this Heart Energy technique combined spiritual energy, the outcome was different, making it an unsuccessful yet not entirely failed attempt.
Observing Wuti Ke's final moments, Chen Chuan noted both expected and unexpected behaviors. He pondered, finding some aspects worth considering.
Talu had witnessed the entire battle, and her admiration was evident. She didn't focus on the gruesome scenes but on Chen Chuan's control of power and rhythm. Despite the disparity between them, she caught glimpses that allowed her to appreciate the beauty of strength and skill, the experience left her with a sense of awe.
Talu performed a Single Stream Pavilion's salute and said earnestly, "Thank you, Mr. Chen."
Chen Chuan replied, "It's nothing. I said I'd stand with you against external threats as long as I'm here."
He walked over to the headless body of Wuti Ke, noting their resemblance to the Initial People. Indeed, the Linenax Federation often used these individuals to infiltrate Dashi and the Oceanic Expansion Group.
He noticed a waterproof document bag at Wuti Ke's waist, bent down to untie and retrieve it. Opening it, he found records and reports about the surrounding ocean area. The documents mentioned the biological environment around Fei Guang Island, frequent anomalies, the existence of the Single Stream Pavilion, and the belief that a fixed rift was present.
Apparently, this group had come for the rift. However, the documents were scattered, indicating they weren't issued uniformly but rather collected from various sources.
Chen Chuan's thoughts wandered as he continued reading, noticing an unnatural bulge on Wuti Ke's body. He knelt down, examined it, and soon found an implanted object under the skin.
The object's outer packaging was made from a special biological material. He wiped away the bloodstains and opened it, revealing files recorded on unique paper. The handwriting was small but clear, and as he flipped through them, he discovered they were personal records of missions and cultivation.
Comparing these documents with the previous ones, Chen Chuan made a judgment. He looked up at Talu and said, "These people are indeed from the Linenax Federation, but their appearance and purpose here aren't as instructed. They're likely on a private mission."
Talu asked, "Will the Linenax Federation send more people?"
"Hard to say, but unlikely."
Chen Chuan explained, "With the demise of the Ferris Wheel Corporation, the Linenax Federation has lost its primary foothold in the Oceanic Expansion Group. Even if they covet this rift, capturing this place might not guarantee their occupation. So, after these individuals, it's unlikely anyone else will come."
"However, it's best to keep the identities and deaths of these people confidential. Let's treat this incident as if it never happened, to avoid unnecessary trouble."
Talu didn't fully understand these intricate relationships, but she knew what to do. She said, "If these people aren't a concern, I can hand these items to Elder Bole. He'll handle them properly."
Chen Chuan nodded. "Then let the old master take care of it." Even the Central City's Civil Affairs Commissioner wouldn't have jurisdiction over the Oceanic Expansion Group, and Chen Chuan, being in the midst of his cultivation, didn't have the mind to deal with these matters.
Talu spoke up, "Mr. Chen, I need to go back and check."
Chen Chuan nodded. "I'll come with you."
Chen Chuan and Talu exited the rift, returning to the central cliff. The situation was stable; everything was normal on the cliff, and the village had not been attacked. They followed the trail to the seaside, where they found the equipment of the six individuals.
This indicated that no one else was involved in this operation besides these six.
This made sense; Third Limit Combatants couldn't have ordinary people as teammates. Even if they forced a team, their actions would be disjointed.
With the situation under control, Talu could handle things on her own, so Chen Chuan didn't linger. He re-entered the rift but soon discovered that the bodies of the six had disappeared.
