Chapter 628: For This Alone, You Will Be Recorded in History!
Chapter 628: For This Alone, You Will Be Recorded in History!
Ivan guessed some of Ron's thoughts but didn't pay much attention to them. He had a lot on his plate lately and couldn't afford to spend too much time trying to guide Ron.
However, since Ron had come, it at least showed that he had come to terms with something, though it was unclear why he hadn't apologized to Harry and made amends as he had in the original timeline.
Ivan's gaze shifted from Ron and swept around the crowd, spotting Luna's figure. The young witch was standing at the tent's entrance, holding a wooden sign. Like Ron, she didn't seem inclined to come over.
Their eyes met, and Luna playfully blinked, showing him the wooden sign in her hands.
Ivan immediately recognized it as the one Luna had made for him during last year's Quidditch match.
Besides the encouraging message, the edges were adorned with various well-known titles in different colored inks—Gryffindor Champion, Hogwarts Star, Troll Slayer, and... Dragon Knight, the latter seemingly a recent addition.
Ivan even noticed the purple ink inscription at the corner of the sign, reading "Gryffindor Pitching Machine", which made him feel quite embarrassed. He wished he could strangle Seamus for coming up with such a ridiculous nickname.
Luna didn't stay in the tent for long. After showing Ivan her modified wooden sign, she turned and left on her own.
"What are you looking at, Ivan?" Hermione noticed Ivan's gaze fixed in one direction and curiously looked over, but saw no one there.
"Nothing, really!" Ivan hesitated for a moment before shaking his head.
Hermione looked at Ivan with a mix of suspicion and doubt, but before she could ask further, Harry, Mad-Eye Moody, and Professor Mcgonagall approached.
"Great job, kid! You're the first underage wizard in history to defeat a dragon. For this alone, you will be recorded in history!" Mad-Eye Moody hobbled over on his wooden leg and said with a smile.
Mcgonagall was equally impressed. After a summer's break, Ivan's skills had undergone a dramatic transformation.
While she could use Transfiguration Spells to subdue a dragon, she knew she couldn't do it as effortlessly as Ivan had during the competition. This undoubtedly proved that Ivan's mastery of Transfiguration Spells had surpassed her own!
Despite the praise from Mad-Eye Moody, Ivan remained calm. When he had created the Wolfsbane Potion, he knew he would be written into history. Now, he was just adding a few more lines to that history.
As the tent grew more lively, a sharp whistle sounded, followed by Ludo Bagman's booming voice.
"Let's reveal the final scores for each Champion!"
"Go on, Hals, Potter, they're about to score you!" Professor Mcgonagall urged.
Ivan nodded and walked out of the Common Room with Harry, heading back to the Arena. Hermione followed, not wanting to miss such an important moment.
Fleur and Krum had already arrived and were sitting near the Judges' Stand, their expressions tense and nervous.
Ivan and the others found a few empty seats and sat down.
"Next, we will begin the scoring. Each referee's highest score is ten points!" Ludo Bagman cleared his throat and looked at Fleur before continuing.
"First is Number One, the Champion from Beauxbatons—Fleur Delacour! She used an ancient spell to hypnotize the dragon and successfully retrieved the dragon egg! The time taken was thirty-nine minutes and twenty-three seconds! Now, please, judges, give your fair scores!"
With that, Ludo Bagman raised a sign first, displaying a five!
Crouch quickly followed with his score—six.
Dumbledore waved his wand, shooting a beam of light into the sky, which displayed a large "seven."
Maxime hesitated for a long time before slowly raising her wand and shooting a "nine" into the air.
Karkaroff was similarly generous, giving Fleur a nine as well.
The young wizards in the audience were quite dissatisfied with the two judges artificially inflating the scores. Compared to Ivan's thrilling performance, Fleur's method of using a spell to hypnotize the dragon and take the egg seemed rather uninteresting, and nine points seemed too high!
"Champion Fleur, your total score for the first task is thirty-six points!" Ludo Bagman shouted, then turned to Harry to introduce the second Champion.
Harry, who used the Summoning Charm and Blinding Spell to complete the task without any injuries, performed second-best in the arena after Ivan, earning a total of forty-three points.
Krum, on the other hand, fared much worse. He nearly died at the start by angering the dragon and was accused of copying Harry's method, resulting in a total of only thirty-two points. This was only because Karkaroff had given him a perfect score; otherwise, it would have been even lower.
"Lastly, our fourth Champion, Ivan Hals!" Ludo Bagman's voice carried a hint of excitement as he gazed at Ivan. He didn't rush to have the judges score, instead, he began to build the audience's enthusiasm.
"Everyone has witnessed Hals's performance in the competition. He is the only one who successfully defeated the dragon, a truly deserving Champion! Let's give him a round of applause!"
The atmosphere in the arena instantly became fervent, with everyone's eyes fixed on Ivan at the edge of the arena. The crowd began to cheer his name, the screams and shouts deafening.
Ludo Bagman waited for the cheers to die down a bit before raising his voice again. "I believe this moment will be etched in history. Now, please, referees, give your most fair and just scores!"
"If you don't mind, I'll go first. I give Hals a perfect ten for his outstanding performance!"
As he spoke, Ludo Bagman glanced at Karkaroff and Maxime.
Crouch and Dumbledore also gave full marks without hesitation.
Maxime, however, hesitated, her face showing clear discomfort. According to the previous agreement, she was supposed to give an extremely low score to balance out Fleur's chances of catching up in the subsequent tasks.
But Ivan's performance in the first task was truly breathtaking. If she didn't give a perfect score, Maxime was sure that the next morning, she would receive thousands of Howlers, burying her in her carriage.
After all, the Triwizard Cup was a major event that the entire European magical community closely followed...
With a sigh, Maxime finally waved her wand and gave a perfect ten!
