Chapter 627: Seven Sins
Chapter 627: Seven Sins
As the words faded, the young man named Beri'er forcefully leapt upward, soaring into the sky under everyone's gaze until he seemed to blot out the sun, then suddenly plunged into the crowd.
"Let's start with one!"
He flashed a malevolent grin at Klah and stomped forward. "I hate glasses! Hate hypocrisy!"
"Hm?"
Klah's glasses glinted with a cold gleam as he kicked forward. His toe clashed against Beri'er's foot.
Boom!
A shockwave rippled through the air, scattering snow across the ground.
"Not bad strength", Klah remarked, locking eyes with Beri'er for a moment before suddenly reaching out to grab his ankle and hurl him away.
"Heh!"
Beri'er twisted mid-air, landing face-down in the snow. He lifted his head, still wearing that malevolent grin.
"White hair..."
Meanwhile, Luo Fa faced Lida, who had been staring at him just as intensely as he stared back.
"And this aura... You're one of my kin!"
Luo Fa licked his lips. "The 'Luo' of Insect Country are gone, but I never expected to meet another of our blood here. I wonder—how does kin taste?"
Lida's face twisted in disgust. "A Luo Family member? There are still strays outside? And now a pirate?"
White hair, and that ever-present combat hunger clinging to her—there was no doubt she was Luo blood.
But Luo Shen had died years ago. Why did this combat hunger still exist?
"Perfect one!"
Adela drew her massive sword, pointing it at Kas. "Come! Give me your heart!"
"Ohoohoo~"
The geisha-clad Ming Mei giggled. "Sounds fun. Guess I'll pick someone too."
Her gaze swept over the remaining Navy members before settling on Donald. "Oh~ Brother, you look promising. Want to play with me?"
Her white knight uniform had a high slit, revealing smooth, pale thighs. The V-neck collar shifted with her movements, teasing glimpses of the abyss within.
"Me?"
Donald, stunned, drew his cross spear and bowed. "Then please, do your best."
"Donald, I'll help—"
Sazil started charging forward, but suddenly a wispy afterimage materialized beside him.
Sazil felt a sharp pain in his right arm. Instinctively, he hardened it with Armored Haki to block.
Bang!
A leg slammed into his arm, the force sending him skidding backward to crash into Fen Ni and Ju Geng.
"That won't do."
Moer scratched his curly hair, yawning. "The Holy maiden officer has spoken. You lot's affirmation is gone. Better run, or you'll lose your lives."
"This force..."
Sazil stood, shaking his numb arm. His expression darkened. "Who exactly are you?"
"We—"
Moer glanced at his companions. "Didn't we say? We're the Grand Commanders of the Holy Church Army. Ugh, this guessing game's annoying. Let me just say it straight. The Holy maiden officer wants to save humanity by absorbing their 'sins.' What are these Seven Sins? Lust, gluttony, greed, envy, sloth, rage, pride. Once absorbed, humans become perfect beings."
"But someone must bear these sins. The Holy maiden officer chose us—not those purified of the Seven Sins, but those who carry them. Our personalities differ from the saved."
He pointed at Beri'er. "That one's envy."
Then Luo Fa. "He's gluttony."
Ming Mei. "Lust."
Adela. "Greed."
Finally himself. "I'm sloth. There's also rage, but he's probably stopping your strongest. That aura was terrifying. You're all pretty strong. Honestly, I don't want to fight, but the Holy maiden commanded it."
"So..."
He yawned again. "Could you just step aside? I hate combat."
Whoosh!
Ju Geng loosed an arrow, the bowstring humming as a thunder-fast shot streaked toward Moer's face.
But in that instant, Moer vanished. The arrow zipped forward, smashing into a stone pillar and shattering it.
"Oh my, what explosive power! And Haki too! If Uncle Moer hadn't dodged, I'd be done for."
Moer's voice echoed from another direction.
The group turned to see the curly-haired man abruptly materialize from their flank.
"Teleport?"
Sazil narrowed his eyes. "No... No speed increase detected."
"Not teleport!" Moer scratched his head. "Ugh, forget guessing. It's too much trouble."
"I'm the Dao Marker Person who ate the Dao Marker Devil Fruit. I can release Dao Marker Positioning to transfer anyone—single or group—so long as there's a waymark. This port city and the entire island are filled with my waymarks. Though there's a distance limit, this island's fine. Like this—"
He flicked his finger, sending a white-glowing object flying.
Sazil punched it away. The object clattered to the ground at his feet.
"A stone bullet?"
As he looked down, a sudden chill ran through his chest. Instinctively, he raised his guard.
"It's a waymark!"
The stone bullet shimmered, a figure materializing from it to strike Sazil.
Moer tilted his head, watching Sazil block. "Anticipated the attack? Your Observation Haki's impressive! Uncle Moer's genuinely surprised!"
"Heh!"
Sazil grinned malevolently. "My Haki's been tempered through countless battles!"
He repelled Moer's arm with both his own, closed the distance, and charged his fist with Armored Haki. "Nailsfist Technique—Straight Nail!!"
Ju Geng fired three arrows at Moer.
"Eep! I—get weaker!"
Fen Ni frantically hurled a serum bottle at Moer.
The three attacks struck simultaneously.
But Sazil's fist passed through empty air. Ju Geng's arrows sliced through nothingness. Fen Ni's bottle shattered on the snow, releasing purple mist.
The target vanished again.
Sazil's pupils contracted. He spun backward, lashing out with his leg.
"Nailsfist Technique—Swing Nail!"
Smack!
Moer appeared behind him, one hand gripping Sazil's leg. Effortlessly, as if the attack had no impact.
The curly-haired man grinned lazily. "Uncle Moer's strong not just from ability, but in body too."
