Chapter 626: For the Sake of Peace
Chapter 626: For the Sake of Peace
Russell was consumed by rage—raw, sorrowful rage.
The moment he activated his so-called 'Rage State,' Kuro sensed that emotion. It wasn’t just about power; it was the palpable weight of uncontainable fury and grief.
How could a single person harbor such immense rage? The sorrow interwoven within that fury, the sheer force of will—it made Kuro sigh.
"Human willpower... no matter the stance, always has its shining moments."
Kuro glanced at Russell, now with closed eyes, then shook his head toward the mountain below. "Still, if you came here thinking you could defeat my subordinates, you’ve miscalculated. My people aren’t weak."
Russell left behind nothing in death—no final words, only a faint trace of solace in his passing. But Kuro needed no news.
The combat of a man driven by such willpower spoke volumes. This man had raged against his own existence, drowning in the illusion of a 'holy maiden's' fabricated world.
In short, he’d been deceived by a 'dream.'
"Truly... are the people here this naive?"
Kuro exhaled a puff of smoke, his left hand resting on the hilt at his waist as he descended toward the mountain.
...
In Grande Port, Kas nodded slightly as he observed the restored order.
"Indeed, Master Kuro’s teachings bear fruit. Only his words hold true essence and truth!"
"Absolutely!" Wilbur chimed in, fervently pressing his hand to his chest. Within that hand lay his most cherished treasure—his sacred possession.
"Lidamiss, why the surprise?" Klah noticed Lida’s astonishment and approached.
"Didn’t you notice?" Lida pointed at Kas. "This bearded man is no ordinary fellow!"
"What do you mean?" Klah frowned, confused.
"Forget it... Perhaps not. I’ve never seen anyone in the Navy with such aptitude. Maybe Kuro knows. I’ll ask him when he returns."
A faint red glow flickered in Lida’s eyes as she gazed toward the snowy peaks ahead. "Why did he go there? Wait, no—"
The moment her Observation Haki activated, locking onto Kuro’s aura, she suddenly turned her head. "Klah, someone’s coming!"
"Ahh!"
Klah followed her gaze toward the plaza center, where new auras had appeared.
Soon, a wisp of white light flared in the town’s heart. Five figures and an Iron Maiden materialized.
The five wore identical white knight uniforms, encircling the Iron Maiden.
"Ahhh", one man with curly hair yawned lazily, "we’ve arrived, holy maiden officer."
"Thank you for your efforts, Moer", the Iron Maiden replied with a crisp voice. "They refuse to contribute to peace. I grieve deeply."
"Then leave it to us, holy maiden officer!"
A thin, frail-looking man with white hair lifted his gaze toward the Navy soldiers, his tongue flicking out to lick his lips. "Eliminating these criminals disrupting peace will suffice."
"Ah, the Navy enjoys such privileges and possesses formidable combat power, yet they can’t even maintain peace", another young man sneered maliciously beside the white-haired one. "How envious!"
"Oh~ So many handsome brothers here."
A woman with a geisha-style hairstyle playfully touched her red lips, casting a seductive glance. "Would you leave quietly for my sake? For peace, I’d gladly reward you handsomely."
The last figure, a silent giant with a massive sword strapped to his back, stared at the Navy with eyes brimming with greed.
These people... were terrifyingly strong!
At least in Klah’s perception, they were.
"Who are you?!"
Kas stepped forward, demanding answers. "Why are you here?! Did you cause this chaos?!"
The young man with the malicious grin smirked. "We are the Grand Commanders of the 'Holy Church Army,' here for peace. The holy maiden officer sensed someone disrupting her peace prayers, so we came. Navy, don’t recklessly destroy peace—she’ll cry!"
As he spoke, tears streamed from the Iron Maiden statue they protected.
"Peace is precious beyond measure. Everyone must strive and contribute for its sake. You’ve killed many, consumed countless lives, but no matter—forgiveness awaits. I, as God’s representative, shall absolve you if you repent sincerely. Lay down your weapons, confess your sins, atone, and you shall attain true peace."
Her words carried an eerie enchantment, instantly mesmerizing the crowd.
Sazil’s eyes glazed over as he murmured, "These hands... have taken so many lives, consumed so many souls for selfish desires. I shouldn’t have—"
"What Absurdity!!"
A thunderous roar shattered Sazil’s trance.
Kas stood defiant, his voice righteous. "Everything we’ve done is for the civilians’ peace! Only the Navy can safeguard civilian peace! Only the Navy’s actions embody Justice!! If gods exist, they must be Navy Deities! And if Navy Deities exist, then Master Kuro is their incarnation!!"
White energy surged, forming a mist that expanded through the Three Thousand Dougleg Navy behind him, enveloping everyone present.
"What we do IS Justice!!" Kas raised his weapon, shouting.
"Justice!!!"
Three thousand voices roared in unison, shattering the enchanting spell.
The white energy surged against the five figures and the Iron Maiden.
The Iron Maiden’s head opened, revealing a maiden’s sorrowful face.
"I grieve deeply..."
"Beri’er."
"Understood!" The malicious-grinning youth stepped forward.
"Moer."
The lazy man scratched his head. "This might get troublesome."
"Mei."
The geisha-styled woman offered a coy smile.
"Adra."
The sword-wielding man fixed his gaze on Kas, eyes widening with shock—and greed.
"A Complete Being’s aura! A Complete Being!"
"Lofa."
The white-haired man stretched his limbs, eyeing Lida. "Will you satisfy my hunger?"
"Lofa?"
Lida blinked, stunned by the man’s silver hair.
"Begin. For the sake of peace."
The Iron Maiden’s mask closed once more.
