Chapter 626: Father
Chapter 626: Father
Lu Yuan saw her hesitation and said with a cold demeanor, "No need to rush. I’m not that eager to know."
The carriage was silent, the only sound being the wheels turning.
Whether it was his words or his silent companionship and acceptance, her thoughts gradually calmed down.
She said, "I’m not sure. I need to go back and ask Chen Long, and then I’ll tell you."
"Go to the Crown Prince’s Mansion."
Lu Yuan ordered.
Cui Hu was taken aback. "Not going back to the palace? The Imperial Concubine Chenfei is waiting!"
Lu Yuan’s voice turned cold. "If I tell you to go to the Crown Prince’s Mansion, do it quickly. Are you trying to quit? Next time, I’ll send Ji Feng!"
"Ji Feng is still in the underground palace."
Cui Hu secretly gloated, making a face.
Ah, but then again, His Majesty, the Miao King, the Imperial Eldest Grandson, Miss Zhao Zhao, and the Prince of the Commandery have all come out. Are Ji Feng and Yu Zichuan alright?
They couldn’t have died in the underground palace, right?
In that case, would he become the Crown Prince’s top inner guard?
Cui Hu stroked his chin.
The thought made him feel a bit pleased.
Achoo!
He sneezed loudly.
The carriage arrived at the Crown Prince’s Mansion, and Lu Yuan and Meng Qianqian immediately went to the courtyard where Chen Long was recovering.
Chen Long had almost withstood all of Gongsun Yanming’s lethal attacks, suffering severe damage to his internal organs and a large portion of his meridians. Yan Niangzi had spent the entire night treating him, using up all of the Blue Leaf Moon’s elixirs and pills, barely managing to save his life.
When she saw the two of them arrive, Yan Niangzi’s face turned green!
Meng Qianqian ignored her and went straight to Chen Long’s room.
Yan Niangzi had just finished administering the silver needles.
"You..."
Yan Niangzi opened her mouth.
Meng Qianqian said, "Master."
Yan Niangzi turned away, put away the silver needles, and left the room.
Lu Yuan stood under the eaves.
Yan Niangzi asked, "Aren’t you going in?"
"Hmm."
Lu Yuan responded.
Yan Niangzi: "Fine, I won’t meddle in your affairs, but one thing—"
She took a deep breath and burst out, "Can you please stop causing trouble for me? I barely saved this guy from the brink of death, and you come here in the middle of the night to upset him! Do you want to exhaust me to death?!"
Lu Yuan, stunned by the outburst, was speechless: "..."
Inside the room, the oil lamp cast a dim light.
Meng Qianqian struggled to control her emotions.
She knew Chen Long was severely injured and needed rest.
So, she didn’t want to disturb him and decided to wait quietly for him to wake up.
But never before had she felt so restless and anxious as she did now.
"You came."
Chen Long’s hoarse voice came from the bed.
Meng Qianqian’s eyes lit up. "You’re awake? How do you feel?"
Chen Long weakly replied, "I’m fine. Did that guy not take care of you properly, making you come back to the Crown Prince’s Mansion?"
Meng Qianqian said, "It’s not his fault. I wanted to come and see my brother."
Chen Long looked into her shimmering eyes. "You have something on your mind?"
Chen Long wasn’t one to easily pick up on others’ emotions, except for his sister.
Her every move and gesture, he could sense without much thought.
It was a bond that transcended blood.
A unique protection that belonged only to him.
Meng Qianqian asked, a bit nervously, "Brother, do you remember Father’s handwriting?"
Chen Long recalled for a moment. "Yes, I do."
Meng Qianqian took out a silk pouch from her wide sleeve, carefully opened it, and retrieved the yellowed piece of paper, slowly handing it to Chen Long.
The paper bore a single line: "The ends of the earth have limits, but yearning knows no bounds."
Chen Long asked curiously, "This is Father’s handwriting. Where did you get it?"
