Chapter 625: Battle of the Gods
Chapter 625: Battle of the Gods
In a restaurant in Desert City, Ash and his group, along with Maya, Balza, and their siblings, gazed at Shizuru sitting across from them.
"I felt a surge of anger from the flask," Shizuru began, "The power that once belonged to Hoopa, after a century of being sealed, has developed a grudge. The evil force it creates will control whoever touches the Punishment Flask."
"Just as I suspected," Balza said, glancing at the Punishment Flask held by Hitoru's machine, still feeling a lingering sense of fear.
He had encountered the flask in the desert and intended to bring it back to Desert City, but he never anticipated falling under its control.
Hoopa, too, felt a sense of apprehension, "Hoopa feels like it's about to disappear. Hoopa is scared and doesn't want to be unleashed!"
Maya's expression turned worried, "Hoopa..."
"But if that's the case, won't Hoopa be unable to reclaim its power?" Sylina couldn't help but ask.
Balza shook his head, "No. I recall that after Hoopa was sealed, our great-grandfather brought it back to his hometown, which is now known as the Origin Valley."
"Although he has passed away, he left behind some words that have been passed down. Before Hoopa understands the true meaning of punishment, it cannot reclaim its true power or pass through its halo."
"Punishment?" Ash caught on to a key term, "Then, how can we help Hoopa understand the true meaning of punishment?"
Everyone's attention turned to Hoopa.
Hoopa, however, looked utterly confused, equally perplexed about the concept of punishment.
"Hoopa doesn't know either..."
If they didn't help Hoopa understand the true meaning of punishment, it would remain in its current state, unable to reclaim its true power.
While this wouldn't have a detrimental effect on Hoopa, Maya, having grown up with Hoopa as a close friend, still wanted to help.
With this in mind, Maya turned her gaze back to the man sitting across from them, sipping his tea.
Like their great-grandfather, this man had a connection to Arceus, the legendary Pokemon that created the world.
Perhaps he would know a solution.
"Mr. Shizuru, do you have any idea what we should do?" Maya asked.
"If you want Hoopa to regain its former power, it must understand the true meaning of punishment and willingly accept the power sealed within the Punishment Flask."
Upon hearing this, Hoopa shook its head in fear, "No! Hoopa will disappear! It won't be Hoopa anymore!"
"That power has been sealed within the flask for over a century, isolated and angry due to its prolonged confinement. When it enters Hoopa's body, the anger will overwhelm Hoopa's rationality, influencing its behavior."
Everyone paused for a moment, taken aback by these words.
Ash was the first to react, "So, you're saying that power is also Hoopa?"
"In a way," Shizuru turned to Maya and Balza, "I do have a few solutions, but the specifics depend on you and Hoopa."
"Please tell us!" Maya pleaded.
With Shizuru's involvement, the Punishment Flask was spared from being shattered by the Rocket Team trio. As a result, they now had various options to handle the situation.
Shizuru contemplated briefly before continuing, "First, help Hoopa understand the true meaning of punishment and have it share its experiences from the past hundred years with the sealed part within the flask."
"Second, forcefully defeat the shadow Hoopa in the flask, but this might intensify its anger, and the consequences..."
Shizuru didn't finish his sentence, but Maya and Balza understood.
Such an action could backfire, creating future problems and potentially causing Hoopa to lose its sense of self.
Given the circumstances, the only viable option was the first one.
The question remained: did Hoopa understand the true meaning of punishment?
"Hoopa doesn't know either..." Little Hoopa looked troubled.
Ash, however, appeared perplexed, "If they're both Hoopa, why can't they get along?"
Hoopa had been scared, but upon hearing Shizuru's explanation that the shadow had been sealed in the flask for a century and was lonely, it felt angry.
Hoopa, with its kind nature, couldn't help but speak up, "Hoopa wants to get along with the shadow..."
"In that case, let's give it a try!" Balza decided, "We'll help Hoopa negotiate with the shadow and have Hoopa share its experiences from the past hundred years with it!"
"Yes!" Maya agreed.
"We'll help too!" Ash and Pikachu's group were filled with determination.
Mew and Teddiursa, along with Bickity, flew forward as well.
"Miu!"
"Everyone..." Hoopa looked at them with gratitude for their willingness to help.
Shizuru smiled faintly and said, "A good choice, but the plan's execution cannot take place within the city."
"Huh?" Ash was momentarily taken aback.
But Hitoru had already realized, "The shadow Hoopa's power is so strong that if it appears in the city, it could cause severe destruction!"
Just moments ago, the brief appearance of the shadow Hoopa had resulted in the destruction of a building, disrupted traffic on the roads, and even attracted the attention of Miss Junsa.
Fortunately, as it wasn't intentional, Miss Junsa let them off.
"In that case, let's choose a location in the uninhabited desert."
The group's discussion led to Balza's decision.
"Alright! We'll go and help too!" Sylina raised her right hand.
Shizuru, having come this far, decided to join them. After a quick packing, they set off for the desert's depths.
Before their departure, Shizuru sought out Hoopa and asked it to retrieve Gogoat as well.
"No problem!" Hoopa immediately summoned its ring, extended its hand, and began to exert force: "Hoopa—Hoop-a-loop!"
The next moment, Gogoat's figure was pulled out by Hoopa.
With Entei and Ai Guan Shi taking care of the ranch, Shizuru figured a brief absence wouldn't be an issue.
Upon Gogoat's arrival, with everyone present, Shizuru addressed the group, "Alright, let's go! We're off!"
"Yes!"
As Shizuru was unfamiliar with the area, Balza took the lead.
The group rented several flying taxis in Desert City, heading deep into the desert.
After nearly half an hour of flight, a desolate, uninhabited desert came into view.
Even Pokemon were scarce in this place.
The area was so barren that it lacked any natural resources, not even cacti. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but yellow sand and undulating dunes.
"Mr. Shizuru, how about this spot?" Balza jumped off Brave Eagle and turned to ask.
Shizuru nodded, "It's fine. This will do."
"Then, Hitoru, it's time!" Hitoru adjusted his glasses, and the mechanical arm on his back extended, holding the Punishment Flask.
"Next, I'm about to begin! Hoopa, are you ready?"
"Hoopa is ready!" Hoopa's face lit up with a mischievous smile. It extended its small hand toward the Punishment Flask, intending to share its experiences from the past century with Shadow Hoopa, as instructed by Shizuru.
"Begin!" Balza said calmly.
"Hoopa, give it your all!" Ash and the others cheered for Hoopa.
"Yeah!" Hoopa nodded vigorously.
Instantly, colorful memory lights burst from its body, enveloping the Punishment Flask.
Hoopa closed its eyes, sharing everything it had experienced in the past century with Shadow Hoopa.
A century ago, Golis taught it to sow seeds with its own hands. Later, as Golis aged, Maya and Balza were born.
The three of them grew up together, playing every day. Maya and Hoopa would play pranks in the town.
Sometimes, Hoopa wanted to help the townspeople.
When Grandpa Dam, plagued by drought, desired water to irrigate his fields, Hoopa dropped candy from Grandma Mera's shop instead.
When the children wanted to use the Town Stone to press down a kneaded dough, Hoopa pulled out a Rhyperior, causing a nearby statue to be smashed.
Hoopa and the children frantically tried to fix it, but after a series of hilarious "efforts," Grandma Mera forgave their mistake and treated them to donuts.
"Shadow, Hoopa has experienced so much in the past century!" Hoopa turned to the Punishment Flask: "Hoopa will slowly tell you all about it!"
The memory lights burst into a dazzling glow.
After a moment, everything returned to calm.
The group looked at the quiet Punishment Flask, their hearts filled with tension.
Did it succeed?
Balza stepped forward, hesitated for a moment, then reached out to open the flask's lid.
The next second, a thick purple aura surged out of the flask, engulfing Hoopa's body almost instantly.
"Ah!"
Hoopa let out a painful cry.
"Hoopa!" Seeing this, Maya's heart tightened, and she hurriedly rushed to embrace Hoopa.
But the force was too powerful, and she was thrown away.
"Miss Maya!" Sylina quickly rushed to support her.
Balza took quick steps forward, and the Arceus amulet around his neck emitted a golden glow.
The glow followed his control, flying towards Hoopa.
"Time, sky, and the myriad things of the world, break!"
As the incantation fell, the golden glow intensified.
Maya stood up and moved to the other side, joining her brother in using the power of Arceus.
Balza sensed Shadow Hoopa's thoughts and was shocked. He clenched his teeth and said to the group, "Bad news! The force wants to take over Hoopa's body! What a terrifying anger, Shadow Hoopa is jealous of Hoopa! It's been sealed for a century, while Hoopa has been playing outside for a century. Shadow Hoopa's anger is even greater!"
"But isn't Shadow Hoopa also Hoopa?" Ash clenched his fist.
"Yes, that's right. But this guy undoubtedly wants to..." Balza's words were cut off as Hoopa, enveloped by the shadow, let out an even more painful cry, seemingly on the verge of giving up.
Seeing this, Maya quickly shouted, "Hoopa, don't give up! You can't lose to it!"
"Ahhhhhhhh!" Hoopa's cry was heart-wrenching.
Just then, its power seemed to reach its limit, and the purple shadow was directly dispersed, swirling in the sky.
A pitch-black demonic shadow appeared, and the Shadow Hoopa, incarnated by anger, had bloodshot eyes. It roared at the sky.
"Hoopa, the strongest!"
"What's going on?!" Ash asked hurriedly.
Balza's expression turned unusually grave, "The force wants to return to Hoopa's body, but after being rejected by Hoopa, it has nowhere to go. So, it decided to replace Hoopa and become the main body. If that happens... Oh no, Hoopa is in danger!"
Shizuru frowned, wondering if they couldn't forcibly convert it.
Or was it necessary for Hoopa to experience a grand battle like the one in the movie to realize the meaning of punishment and truly share its intentions with Shadow Hoopa?
In the sky, a Mewtwo Balloon slowly drifted over.
Team Rocket, who had been chasing after Pikachu, stared at the terrifying scene below in shock.
Mewtwo suddenly grew concerned, "I have a bad feeling we came at the wrong time..."
"Such a powerful Pokemon!" Jirou was excited as he looked at Shadow Hoopa. If he could present it to the boss...
"Should we catch it?"
"Great idea!" Musashi's eyes lit up.
Just then, Shadow Hoopa noticed them.
Sensing the evil intentions of these three, a thick arm flew out and punched the Mewtwo Balloon.
A golden halo appeared behind them, and the balloon fell into it, instantly disappearing from sight.
"Team Rocket!"
Seeing this, Ash grew worried.
But after dealing with Team Rocket, Shadow Hoopa turned its attention to them.
To be precise, it was the Hoopa that Ash was holding in his arms.
"Disappear!"
An enormous dark shadow ball appeared from Shadow Hoopa's hand and then swept towards the people on the ground.
In this critical moment, Gogoat leaped up, its massive strength colliding with the shadow ball, causing a violent explosion in the sky.
"Brother, the Punishment Flask!" Maya exclaimed.
As her voice fell, a golden halo appeared beneath Hitoru.
Hitoru fell into it and then appeared in the sky, plummeting downward.
The Punishment Flask, grasped by the mechanical arm, slipped and was easily caught by Shadow Hoopa, who then crushed it with a tight squeeze.
"This is bad!" Maya watched helplessly.
Mew flew forward and caught Hitoru with its psychic powers.
Shadow Hoopa glared at everyone with its red-glowing eyes and let out a roar.
"Disappear!"
"Gogoat, Full-Force Ram!" Shizuru's voice rang out.
Gogoat charged forward, exuding an ancient aura, transforming as it rammed into Shadow Hoopa.
However, in response to this attack, Shadow Hoopa simply summoned a halo to block its body.
Gogoat, unable to stop in time, crashed into the halo and reappeared from another direction.
Hoopa's figure flickered, and halos automatically appeared around it, then landed next to Gogoat, surrounding it.
The next moment, massive fists extended from the halos, delivering a comprehensive strike to Gogoat.
That was... Dimensional Assault!
"Mew, Raichu, Bickity, please!" Shizuru stepped forward, shielding the others behind him.
"Miu!"
Mew nodded and flew forward to help.
Tangible psychic powers erupted from Mew, launching a fierce assault on Shadow Hoopa.
A red V-shaped flame lit up on Bickity's forehead.
Raichu hovered in the air, controlling massive lightning bolts that fell from the clouds.
Psywave + V-Flame + Thunder.
The three Pokemon of the Knight Explorers attacked Shadow Hoopa simultaneously.
"Boom!"
The powerful force exploded on Shadow Hoopa, causing it to stagger.
Gogoat seized the opportunity to burst out of the Dimensional Assault, punching Shadow Hoopa with its right fist.
Its massive body then awkwardly fell into the desert, kicking up a cloud of sand.
"Well done!" Hitoru was thrilled.
Standing next to him, Yurika smiled, while the little Soft on Yurika's body silently observed the scene in the sky, deep in thought.
"Hoopa!"
Shadow Hoopa roared, flying out of the desert, its eyes filled with anger as it glared at the several Pokemon floating in front of it.
Was it a battle of many against one? Hmph, in that case, it was time to fight!
A terrifying energy surged from Shadow Hoopa.
Its golden halos flew out, floating on both sides.
The halos glowed brilliantly.
In one halo, the blue Time Force flowed slowly, and then a huge Pokemon with red eyes and a massive body emerged.
A purple glow emanated from another halo, and the Space Force erupted. Palkia, the god of space with red eyes, appeared.
In another halo, a crimson glow shone, and the next second, Kyurem's hideous figure flew out.
In one halo, it was as if ice crystals were shattering, and a cold wave surged out, accompanied by a Pokemon with powerful ice power.
In yet another halo, a vast amount of red lava erupted, and from within the lava, a Pokemon with a red shell and golden patterns fell.
In one halo, a massive amount of blue seawater surged, and Kyogre's enormous body appeared in the desert alongside the water.
Six legendary Pokemon with red eyes stood on both sides of Shadow Hoopa, their faces devoid of emotion, coldly staring at Gogoat, Mew, Raichu, and Bickity.
