Chapter 624: Let's Welcome the Final Champion!
Chapter 624: Let's Welcome the Final Champion!
Krum walked out of the tent with a troubled mind, waging an internal battle over whether to stick to the original plan and use the Blinding Spell to confuse the Dragon. After all, Harry had just used that method!
Moreover, he didn't have his Firebolt and couldn't rely on a flying broom to dodge and weave around the Dragon like Harry did, which would lack the necessary spectacle.
When compared, he would undoubtedly receive the lowest score!
This was something Krum simply couldn't accept!
So, on his way to the arena, Krum continuously searched his mind for the Dark Magic he knew, finally gritting his teeth and deciding to try a different approach to combat the Dragon!
With his decision made, Krum clutched his wand and stepped into the arena. The Chinese Fireball stood tall in the center, steadfastly guarding the dragon egg without any intention of attacking.
This slightly eased Krum's tension. He immediately raised his wand, muttering complex spells, and dark sparks began to appear at the tip of his wand...
The Chinese Fireball sensed the threat but hesitated to advance, still needing to protect the dragon egg. Instead, it let out a series of angry roars, trying to drive away the annoying wizard.
The standoff lasted for about ten seconds before Krum finished the complex spell. A large amount of black mist surged out, forming a massive sphere that shot from his wand and collided with the Chinese Fireball.
A violent explosion echoed, and the Chinese Fireball let out a painful screech. The black mist, like the strongest acid, rapidly corroded the Dragon's scales...
Krum's lips curled into a smile, but it lasted only a few seconds before turning into a look of terror.
For the Chinese Fireball, in its agony, abandoned the dragon egg and charged at him with furious rage!
Krum's eyes widened in horror. He only managed to cast a Protego before being slammed by the massive dragon claw, sending him flying and rolling across the ground for several yards before coming to a stop.
The sudden turn of events terrified the young wizards in the stands, their screams continuous. Some even feared Krum had been killed by the Dragon's blow.
The Dragon Keepers guarding the area were similarly startled and were about to rush in to save him!
But it was already too late. The enraged Dragon, now even more aggressive, had already charged back to Krum, its sharp teeth like honed daggers, seemingly intent on swallowing him whole.
“Lumos! (Bulgarian)” In the critical moment, Krum, nearly crushed, clutched his chest and shouted with a hoarse voice. A blinding light, like the sun, radiated from the tip of his wand, obscuring the Chinese Fireball's vision and causing it to go temporarily blind.
Krum, forcing himself to stand, immediately ran towards the Dragon's nest and shouted in broken English to the crowd.
“The match continues!”
The Dragon Keeper, hesitating, wasn't sure whether to follow the order. To them, the situation had already spiraled out of control!
The brief blindness caused by Lumos lasted only about a second before the Chinese Fireball regained its sight and began rampaging through the arena even more fiercely.
Krum was in a panic, desperately trying to come up with a plan—he needed a broom, otherwise, he wouldn't just lose the dragon egg; he'd be dead!
But he hadn't brought his Firebolt this time.
The dragon's roars were growing louder, and Krum could sense death approaching. Just then, a sudden idea struck him, and he turned to look at the exit of the arena—there was a broom right there!
"Firebolt, come to me!" Krum shouted, waving his wand with a glimmer of hope.
One second, two seconds... nothing happened in the arena.
In that moment, Krum's mind raced with frustration and helplessness. He couldn't blame the broom for not coming; if the roles were reversed, he might not have wanted to save a competitor either.
A massive fireball erupted from the dragon's mouth, hurtling towards Krum.
The flames illuminated his face, and his hair stood on end. Just as he was about to admit defeat and call for help, a long, stick-like object suddenly flew in from the horizon.
It was the Firebolt!
Krum didn't have time to celebrate. He leaped up, grabbed the broomstick, and flipped onto it. Relying on its extraordinary speed, he dodged the fireball's explosion and raced towards the Dragon Nest!
The dragon, enraged, spewed dragon breath behind him, but Krum managed to evade each blast. He leaned backward, snatched the Golden Egg, and raised it high, signaling that he had completed the task!
The Dragon Keepers quickly stepped in to calm the mother dragon's fury, and the young wizards in the stands heaved sighs of relief.
"Truly disgraceful behavior from Krum, the Durmstrang champion, who has clearly copied Mr. Potter's method of dealing with the dragon... This is cheating, he must have spied on the previous match!" Ludo Bagman, the commentator, showed no mercy towards Krum, his sharp words amplified through a megaphone, echoing throughout the arena.
Many young wizards agreed with Ludo Bagman's assessment and loudly condemned Krum's dishonorable actions. Only Krum's loyal fans continued to defend him, arguing that the rules did not explicitly prohibit champions from using similar methods to complete the task.
Krum, embarrassed and disgraced, quickly left the arena after securing the dragon egg.
"Alright, let's welcome our final champion to the stage!" Ludo Bagman cleared his throat and announced loudly.
The audience turned their attention to the entrance of the arena, where a young wizard in a Gryffindor robe was walking in. Unlike the other champions, his face showed no signs of nervousness or worry, only a calm and composed demeanor.
As Ivan entered the arena, the crowd erupted into thunderous applause.
Countless young wizards chanted his name, waving banners that read "Gryffindor Hero" or "Hogwarts Star" in golden letters!
Ivan politely surveyed the crowd, nodding in acknowledgment. He also noticed his friends cheering for him from the stands, with Luna waving enthusiastically.
Ludo Bagman continued his commentary, pointing to the center of the arena as he introduced Ivan's opponent.
"The fourth champion will face a Norwegian Ridgeback! I can confidently tell you that this is the smartest and most dangerous of the four dragons! Let's see how Hals performs..."
