Chapter 621: Revival (First Update)
Chapter 621: Revival (First Update)
"Sorry, Ms. Foster. I just lost it!"
In the Headmaster's Office at Hogwarts, after an extremely awkward silence, the usually stern and strict Professor Snape stammered an apology to the witch sitting opposite him, who bore a striking resemblance to Lily.
At this moment, Snape was feeling incredibly embarrassed.
He had burst into tears upon meeting the witch for the first time, only to realize in his calm state that he had been overly emotional and mistaken her for someone else.
However, it wasn't entirely his fault. How could he not lose control when the American witch in front of him looked so much like the Lily he deeply loved?
"It's fine. You've already explained that it's because I resemble your long-dead friend so much. I can understand that, really."
Lily Foster smiled in response.
She wasn't particularly bothered by it. After all, apart from crying uncontrollably, the Headmaster hadn't done anything else.
To be honest, she had been a bit anxious after hearing the witches at the Leaky Cauldron say that Headmaster Snape wasn't easy to get along with. But to her surprise, the actual Snape was quite emotional.
She could genuinely feel the intense, heartfelt emotion Snape had for his deceased friend, which even affected her deeply.
At that moment, she thought to herself that if there really was someone who could still feel such strong emotions for her even decades after her death, it would be a truly fortunate thing.
From a woman's perspective, she genuinely admired men like Snape.
"Then that's good."
Snape let out a slight sigh of relief and couldn't help but sneak another glance at Foster.
"Too similar, just too similar! How could anyone look so much alike!"
Although he had confirmed that this Ms. Foster was not the Lily who had passed away over a decade ago, Snape still couldn't resist looking at her. She was just too much like Lily.
Many people can look similar, but finding someone who looks this much alike is truly rare.
Not only were their facial features similar, but even their hair and eye color, as well as their height, matched Lily's exactly.
Of course, if one looked closely, there were some differences.
First, Foster's skin was a healthy tan, suggesting she spent a lot of time in the sun, while Lily's skin was fair.
Second, Foster appeared more mature and had a better figure, possibly due to regular exercise.
Lastly, Lily had a London accent, while Foster spoke with a very standard New York aristocratic accent.
What Snape didn't know was that the two were indeed identical twenty-three years ago, as Lily Foster was cloned from Lily Evans's genes by Jerry.
However, their different life experiences had led to some significant differences between them now.
Lily Evans had attended Hogwarts, married James, and given birth to Harry, becoming a wife and mother. She ultimately died protecting Harry from Voldemort.
Lily Foster attended Ilvermorny and, after graduation, traveled the world, often venturing into remote forests to gather herbs for potion-making. This is why her skin is a bit darker and her figure is more toned.
Lily Foster is now 34 years old, in the prime of her life and radiating maturity and charm. In Snape's memories, Lily Evans was 20, just an adult.
Their personalities have also diverged significantly due to different life experiences.
Lily Evans was fresh out of school and more idealistic, while Lily Foster, having traveled the world and run businesses, is more mature and experienced.
Thus, apart from the inherent kindness that has never changed, Lily Foster and Lily Evans are essentially different people.
"Headmaster, can we get started?"
Foster looked at Headmaster Snape, who was staring at her, and reminded him with a chuckle.
Snape was startled and quickly averted his gaze.
"Of course, of course. Let's discuss the benefits of the potion professor position. If you find them suitable, you can stay in the castle's quarters tonight."
"Headmaster, don't you need to assess my knowledge of potions?"
Foster was taken aback by Snape's words. How could the interview skip straight to the final stage without even starting?
Snape's face turned red, and he hurriedly replied,
"I reviewed your resume, Ms. Foster, and I believe your capabilities don't need to be tested."
In reality, before she arrived, he had prepared over a dozen challenging potion-related questions to gauge her true abilities. However, for some reason, he had subconsciously forgotten all about it.
It seemed that regardless of her qualifications, he hoped she would stay at Hogwarts.
Foster chuckled,
"I didn't expect you to trust me so much, Headmaster. It's an honor."
Foster looked at the blushing Snape and suddenly found this stern headmaster, whom everyone described as strict, to be rather endearing.
"Ms. Foster, what do you think?"
Snape's eyes betrayed a hint of anticipation.
Foster picked up her suitcase and giggled,
"Of course, Headmaster. You can see I've already brought my luggage. If it's convenient, could you show me to my quarters? I'm not familiar with the place yet."
"Of course, of course."
Snape's tone was noticeably lighter and more cheerful upon hearing Foster's affirmative response.
"It looks like it's going well!"
After a pleasant conversation, Snape led Foster out of the Headmaster's Office towards the Staff Quarters. At that moment, a figure emerged from the office.
It was Jerry, who had arrived early and had been hiding nearby, observing the entire interaction.
He had gone to great lengths to see how things would turn out.
Fortunately, despite a few minor mishaps, their first meeting seemed to have gone well overall.
From his observations, Jerry felt that Foster's impression of Professor Snape was positive, and Snape's evident fondness for Foster was clear.
