Chapter 620: Cheating is a Tradition in the Triwizard Tournament!
Chapter 620: Cheating is a Tradition in the Triwizard Tournament!
After breakfast, with time being of the essence, the three of them didn't waste any time. They found an empty classroom and began the lesson.
"The **Summoning Charm** isn't a particularly difficult **Magic** to learn. The **Spell** and **Gesture** are quite straightforward. However, to successfully cast this **Magic**, the **Caster** typically needs a strong will and determination!"
Ivan was no stranger to teaching **Magic**. He had ample experience from his regular classes, and many **Professors** had even affectionately praised him, saying he could just as well take over the lectern and teach the class himself, rather than constantly standing up to disrupt the order.
Harry listened intently. The **Danger** posed by the **Dragon** had completely changed his previously lax attitude toward studying, making him even more anxious than when he had practiced the **Expecto Patronum** spell.
Once Ivan had finished explaining the key points of the **Summoning Charm**, Harry eagerly took out his **Firebolt** and began practicing over and over again.
Hermione, who had come along, didn't idle either. Although she wasn't participating in the **Dangerous** competition, she joined Harry in learning these **spells**.
Apart from her desire to improve her skills and close the gap, Hermione was also deeply concerned that if she had free time, Ivan might bring up the topic of practicing **Legilimency** again.
Just thinking about the scene from the memory probe made the **young witches** feel uneasy. Fortunately, Ivan seemed to have forgotten about it and hadn't mentioned it since, which had greatly reassured her.
Ivan was unaware of Hermione's thoughts and had no time to dwell on them. He was busy guiding Harry's spell practice while also refining the plan he had in mind—convincing Norbert to act in the competition and stage a fake fight!
Yes, a fake fight!
**Dragons** are not easy opponents. They are incredibly strong, have high **Magic** resistance, and can breathe powerful **dragon breath**.
Usually, it takes more than five specially trained **Dragon Keepers** to subdue a rampaging **Dragon** without any casualties!
Ivan believed that to achieve this in a short time, he would have to use enhanced **Runic Inscriptions** to bolster **Sectumsempra**, **Exploding Spell**, and even the **Killing Curse**.
However, doing so would not only expose his proficiency in **Dark Magic** but could also result in a very bloody scene, leading to unnecessary misunderstandings about him.
If the **Dragon** were to go berserk and destroy the **dragon egg** after being severely injured, it would be a disastrous outcome.
Therefore, Ivan thought it would be better to find a cooperative **Dragon** to act out a thrilling and spectacular battle. This way, everyone would save a lot of trouble, and it might even create an incredibly dramatic visual effect, causing a sensation among the audience!
Coincidentally, he had heard from Charlie the day before that Norbert had been selected by the **Romanian Dragon Reservation** and had likely received relevant training, making it easier to communicate with him.
The more he thought about it, the more Ivan liked the idea. He was confident that if he performed flawlessly, Karkaroff and Maxime wouldn't have any reason to make him **lose points**!
However, Ivan soon frowned, realizing there was a flaw in his plan: how to ensure that Norbert would be chosen for the competition?
In the original timeline, when the **Champions** selected their **Dragons**, Hogwarts, as the host, had graciously let Fleur and Krum choose first.
If they picked Norbert, his plan would fall through.
Ivan’s frown remained etched on his forehead throughout the entire morning as he struggled to find a solution to the problem at hand.
The only good news was that Harry, after a morning of practice, had finally managed to grasp the basics of the Summoning Charm!
Although he wasn’t entirely proficient yet, and his Firebolt occasionally failed to respond to his summons, Harry was thrilled. He felt that with another hour of practice, he could start learning the Blinding Spell.
Hermione’s progress was a bit faster; after three hours, she could summon any item in the room with ease.
“Take a break, Harry, Hermione! Let’s go have lunch and rest a bit before continuing,” Ivan checked the time. It was already lunchtime, and they had been practicing for nearly four hours.
Learning was important, but it was also essential to balance work and rest—prolonged casting could be very draining.
Harry nodded, looking tired, and stopped practicing. He picked up his Firebolt and followed Ivan towards the Great Hall.
On the way, the young wizards they encountered all greeted them enthusiastically. Ivan noticed that many of them had pinned large badges to their robes, which read "Ivan Hals, Go!" in bright red letters. These badges occasionally flashed, and a few even changed to read "Support Champion Harry Potter"!
Harry also noticed this and felt a surge of excitement despite his fatigue. The Dragon he was about to face seemed less daunting, and he was eager to master his magic and prove himself on the field as a worthy Champion!
“Hey, Ivan, Harry, over here!”
As they entered the Great Hall, a voice called out from the Gryffindor table.
Ivan turned and saw that it was George and Fred. He hesitated for a moment before walking over to them.
“Tomorrow’s the big day, are you guys ready? We’ve even bought celebratory banners!” George draped an arm around Ivan’s shoulders, pulling him to a seat beside him. The badge on his chest, which read "Winky," glowed brightly.
Fred, however, looked at Ivan and Harry with a mix of concern.
“Not too bad, you’ll see!”
Having learned the Summoning Charm, Harry felt more confident. The thought of proving himself on the field gave him the determination to make a strong statement.
Harry’s response caught George and Fred off guard. They exchanged a glance, sensing something was different, and decided to hold back their initial comments. Instead, they began to tease the two, almost as if they were already celebrating their success.
“By the way, George, Fred, I heard you placed bets at the Quidditch World Cup and lost everything. Is that true?” Ivan suddenly interjected, changing the subject.
“Who says we lost? We guessed right! We bet 100 Galleons on Ireland winning—and Viktor Krum catching the Golden Snitch. But Mr. Bagman forcibly took our winnings, and now he owes us a fortune—600 Galleons!” George corrected Ivan, clearly frustrated.
Fred, hearing Ivan’s question, also looked upset.
Seeing their reactions, a small smile played on Ivan’s lips. He had an idea of how to ensure he would select Norbert for the competition.
