Chapter 62: Forever Friday
Chapter 62: Forever Friday
"Obito, has something good happened to you lately? You seem to be in a particularly good mood today," Hanabi wondered, curious about Obito's unusually cheerful demeanor.
"Of course, good times are just around the corner," Obito replied with a mischievous smile.
Although the change in battle rules made the tasks seem more numerous, the training provided a good offset. Additionally, with the option to complete the tasks in installments, the actual number of tasks they had to do each day hadn't increased significantly.
Now that he was gradually growing stronger, the number of tasks was decreasing. With the offsets and installments, he truly felt that better days were ahead.
"Obito, you finally remember the dates. Do you want to hang out with me tomorrow?" Hanabi thought Obito was referring to the weekend, so she invited him.
"Dates? Hang out tomorrow?" Obito looked confused, and then a terrible possibility occurred to him.
"Is today Friday again?" Obito asked Hanabi.
"Yes, is the good day you mentioned not the weekend?" Hanabi nodded and asked.
Obito fell silent, feeling that just yesterday had been Sunday, and now it was Friday again.
In a daze, Obito realized that he had experienced this scenario several times already.
"Could I be trapped in a world where it's always Friday and the weekend?" Obito couldn't accept this fact and held his head in his hands.
"What's wrong, Obito? You look troubled," Hanabi said, not understanding.
How could a student be in pain at the thought of the weekend? Wasn't it great to have a break from school?
"It's because I love school and studying so much that the thought of not being able to go to school makes me feel terrible," Obito explained, forcing a reason.
He wouldn't tell Hanabi about his fear of accumulating a pile of tasks over the weekend and not being able to finish them—that would be too embarrassing.
"So, Obito, you love studying that much?" Hanabi was surprised, feeling that this might be related to Obito's improvement this term.
"Then, do you still want to hang out tomorrow?" Hanabi asked.
"Let's go out tonight!" Obito replied.
He really didn't have the energy to play during the weekends after the rule change.
He spent almost the entire day training and doing tasks, and by evening, he didn't even feel like moving.
Every time he thought of Might Guy's ability to train on his own in addition to their regular training, he felt his scalp tingle. How was that even possible, both physically and mentally?
"Does Guy-sensei never get tired?" Obito wondered, glancing at Might Guy, who was focused on his tasks.
"I hope the weekends can be installment-free too," Obito thought of yesterday and silently prayed to the kind Immortal, Moonyi Xian.
After school, Obito, as usual, went to the training ground. He was the last one to arrive.
Mu Yue gathered the three of them together and began assigning tasks.
"Guy, kick that tree with all your might," Mu Yue casually pointed to a lush tree and instructed.
Might Guy nodded and walked up to the tree. He gathered his chakra and kicked out with an extremely fast tornado kick.
The tree cracked and fell with a loud snap.
"My strength is enough to kick down a big tree," Might Guy exclaimed in surprise.
When he had seen Mu Yue swiftly kick down a tree with his leg, he had thought it was cool. He didn't expect that he would be able to do the same so soon.
Then, Mu Yue used ninjutsu to create a large pit and filled it with water. She turned to Obito and said, "Obito, use your Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique at full power to attack the pool."
Obito began forming the hand seals and then spat out a giant fireball, instantly evaporating all the water in the pit and leaving only scorched earth.
"This is the power of my Fire Release," Obito said, his eyes wide with surprise. The pit was several meters wide!
Three months ago, he couldn't even evaporate a half-meter-wide pit with his small fireballs.
Mu Yue then led them through a series of training exercises, including tree-climbing and water-treading.
Obito suddenly realized how much stronger he had become. The water-treading training, which had once left him utterly drenched, was now easily managed as he ran across the water without a single wave knocking him over.
"Sixty out of a hundred? Is this my test score?" Madara's expression upon seeing his score was even more astonished than when he had witnessed the Fire Release evaporating the water pit.
The last time he scored thirty was a first, and now sixty points was an unprecedented high score.
"Fifty-four!" Might Guy, holding the test paper in his hand, shed tears of joy.
He felt the same as Madara—the score was so high that it seemed surreal.
Madara couldn't help but ask, "Teacher Mu Yue, are you really the Sage of the Six Paths in disguise?"
All their hard work had paid off, and they had reaped the rewards.
From nature transformation to ninjutsu, taijutsu, chakra control, and even theoretical knowledge, Madara felt that he had improved tremendously in every aspect.
At this moment, Madara felt that doing assignments and full-day training on weekends didn't matter because the gains were immense.
If he continued like this, he might truly become the Hokage of Konoha.
"Flattery will get you everywhere. Are you trying to get out of today's interest payment as well?" Mu Yue asked with a smile.
"Hehe, it would be best if tomorrow's payment could be waived too," Madara said with a goofy smile.
Although he now felt confident about the assignments, he'd still rather do less if he could.
"You wish! Special privileges are only for yesterday," Mu Yue said, tapping Madara's head with her fingers held together.
The reason for this sudden training summary was to show her disciples their progress, motivating them to cultivate even harder.
Timely positive feedback was essential, and Mu Yue planned to conduct such training summaries periodically.
With her disciples' morale boosted, Mu Yue didn't waste the opportunity. She presented each of the three disciples with a piece of calligraphy that she had written herself.
["You gave your disciple, Uchiha Madara, your own calligraphy. Due to his immense gratitude, the reward triggered a critical strike, and he learned the ninjutsu Earth Release: Earth Spear (Proficiency level)"]
A vast amount of knowledge about the Earth Release: Earth Spear technique and its practical applications in battle flashed through Mu Yue's mind, and she instantly grasped multiple ways to utilize this ninjutsu in combat.
Mu Yue nodded inwardly, pleased with this rewarding outcome.
This was an extremely practical Earth Release ninjutsu that could harden any part of the user's body, making it both offensive and defensive and highly versatile.
Whether it was used for defense against close-range attacks or to harden offensive body parts during an assault, it was incredibly useful.
"Do not forget your original aspiration?" Madara pondered for a while but couldn't decipher any special meaning behind it, ultimately choosing to disregard it.
"The heavens reward the diligent," Might Guy scratched his head, vaguely understanding the meaning, and a smile appeared on his face.
Even without this training summary, he still felt highly motivated.
"Those who attain the Tao are helped by many, while those who lose the Tao are aided by few..." Kakashi, too, was a bit puzzled by the meaning behind Mu Yue's calligraphy.
What did it mean to attain the Tao or to lose the Tao?
