Chapter 619: Three Questions
Chapter 619: Three Questions
"You, you're back!"
"..."
"Could you stop talking in such a strange tone?"
Upon returning to the Banyan Forest, the first person Lindsey encountered was not Hammer, nor any of the other assistants involved in city construction.
Instead, the first person he saw was Hild, confined to a wheelchair due to her restricted movements.
After the construction of the corresponding buildings and the upgrade of technological research in Forest Capital, Hild had also completed her training in various new skills here.
With this round of ability enhancement and the previous enhancement she received in the Hive, her skills had now firmly stabilized at the third stage.
The only issue was that her paralysis was caused by extreme fate backlash, and she remained unable to move her legs.
For a writer, the first stage of their skills merely provided assistance when they put pen to paper. The second stage enhanced their memory, and only at the third stage would they begin to awaken their talent for perceiving fate.
At this stage, writers were essentially powerless 'spectators'.
But Hild was different. She was, in essence, a seventh-stage Grand Writer capable of manipulating and rewriting fate.
Drawing upon the roots buried deep within her soul.
Hild's perception of fate had now become so acute that it surpassed even that of ordinary fifth-stage Awakeners.
At this very moment, the writer was looking at Lindsey with excitement.
She propped herself up with her hands, wanting to leap into Lindsey's arms.
"I..."
Slap! Lindsey anticipated her move and slapped her hand away, pressing her back into her wheelchair.
"While I was in the Hive, something must have happened in Forest Capital. Let's walk and talk."
Hild bit her lip and nodded obediently.
"Just tell me what you want to know."
Lindsey dismissed his entourage, letting them attend to other matters.
He took Hild, and the two of them headed towards the Forest Academy.
During the last architectural upgrade, the Forest Academy's area had expanded, absorbing the library Lindsey had built separately into a secluded room.
He led Hild, climbing through the slanted branches until they reached a hidden spot on the back of a tree trunk, concealed by lush green leaves and offering a pleasant view.
"Last time I left, you said you were almost done organizing, right?"
"Shouldn't there be news by now?"
Hild nodded slightly.
"Half and half, I guess."
Lindsey raised an eyebrow.
"What do you mean by half and half?"
Hild spread her hands and pointed to the neatly organized bookshelf in front of her.
"I mean, the messenger did leave behind quite a bit, but it's not that useful. Even when some information touches on key points, they took the most important parts with them."
Lindsey's raised eyebrows almost twisted together.
"So, it's a complete waste of time?"
Hild proudly straightened her chest and smiled.
"But when combined with my ability to peek into fate, the results are different!"
Lindsey couldn't help but roll his eyes.
"Then just tell me the results!"
Hild smiled slyly, like a cunning fox.
"I worked so hard for this, can't I get some credit?"
"A three-stage writer wanting to peek into fate will have to pay a significant price!"
Lindsey got straight to the point.
"What reward do you want?"
Hild also cut to the chase, reaching for the buttons on her shirt.
"Now, with me..."
Bang! Lindsey pushed Hild back into her wheelchair, firmly holding her hands against her chest, rendering her immobile.
"Say something practical.
"......"
"Waaah!" Hilda struggled, but her frail body was no match for Lindsey's strength, and she could only beg for mercy incoherently.
"Lin...sey...please...let me go!"
Lindsey released her, and the young woman spoke up, "Then for the next month, I want to eat something you make every day!"
Lindsey immediately refused, "A month is too long. I have to visit the Insectoid Nest regularly, so the most I can do is half a month."
Hilda bargained, "Three weeks then, how about three weeks?"
Lindsey remained firm, "I said, half a month is the most I can do."
Hilda raised a finger and bent it back, "Then I'll compromise. Not three weeks, but 20 days, okay?"
"I remember your trips to the Insectoid's lair, so that should avoid any conflicts with your schedule!"
"..."
Not wanting to argue further, Lindsey silently accepted Hilda's request.
The writer girl then spoke up, "Firstly, it's the thing you've been looking for, something that can repair the World Junction. It does exist, and it's in the south of this world. Given the current state of this world, I'd bet it's in the Heart of the Green Marsh, and it's connected to a Phase Seven Awakener."
This outcome matched Lindsey's speculation exactly.
Hearing it confirmed by Hilda, he felt a sense of relief, knowing that the goal was achievable, which was encouraging in itself.
Lindsey then asked about another matter, "What about the Adventurer?"
"The one who once traveled to the south of the world, trying to save that plague, and left behind the Adventure Journal." Hilda answered without hesitation.
"The person is alive, but in poor condition, within the Green Marsh."
"I can't confirm anything else."
Lindsey continued with his final question, "Then, the last thing, what about the City of Law?"
At this topic, Hilda's expression turned serious, "Lindsey, the path ahead is fraught with danger."
"I know you're a brave warrior who can overcome fate!"
"But...but if you step into that land, everything becomes fragile in the face of the will of the Phase Eight Righteous One."
Here, Hilda recalled Lindsey's miracle in the Thousand Sails City.
She quickly corrected herself, "I'm not questioning your strength!"
"It's just...the City of Law was once transformed by the power of a ruler, and it's not the same as an ordinary world. Take the Seven Seas Alliance, for example—it serves as a gateway to countless illusory dream worlds, and such a feat is only possible with the backing of a Phase Nine Grand Artist..."
The writer girl's voice gradually lowered.
In her heart, two voices battled. One was the desire to pursue the fate of a brave warrior, urging her to encourage Lindsey to keep moving forward. The other was a newfound concern, a desire to keep Lindsey safe.
In the end, Hilda chose to stop persuading him.
As perhaps the person who understood Lindsey the most in the world, she gave in to her own strong desires:
"Lindsey, I have a question."
"I once peered into your fate and knew you were from the World Border. But before you turned 13, I couldn't find any corresponding scripts, as if all fate and causality abruptly ended there."
"Can you tell me why?"
