Liam and his companions chose formal robes for their attire this evening, a fortunate choice given that Britain's wizards are quite traditional. The style of formal robes, even in this medieval world, did not seem out of place. As they donned their robes, both of them spontaneously added the Hogwarts crest to their left chest as a badge.
In addition to the robes, they adorned themselves with a complete set of rings, bracelets, cufflinks, and pins—exquisite jewelry that Liam had crafted in the past. These were sets of alchemical gear, or rather, magical equipment.
After putting on the Lassarl Mark, the carriage Lady Elastron had dispatched arrived at their doorstep in this world. Liam and his companions quickly boarded the carriage, which was pulled by two majestic, pure white horses, and set off toward the Supreme Palace. They had initially considered bringing Rose Crystal, but she disliked the stuffy atmosphere of noble gatherings. So, after bidding Liam and the others a quick farewell, she called out Gill and went shopping instead.
The Supreme Palace is situated near the city center, partially integrated into the eastern wall, serving as a fortress to provide a strong support point for the city. This castle, with its towering spires, is built of heavy stone and encased in pristine white marble, drawing the attention of every passerby.
The crenellations are carved into the shapes of unicorn heads, and inside, the ceilings are high, the marble floors emit a gentle glow, and the walls are adorned with tapestries and relief carvings depicting flowers, vines, ferns, and trees.
As they prepared to enter, Liam glimpsed a squad of guards in gleaming silver armor through the carriage window. These were the Supreme Guards, known for their constant vigilance. There are only 90 of them, and they protect the Supreme Palace alongside the arcane power of the Arcane Guard.
The venue for tonight's feast is the central main tower, the Moonshield Tower. After Liam and his companions alighted from the carriage, two Supreme Guards in silver armor approached, inspected their special markings, and inquired about their purpose. After a brief nod, the guards bowed slightly and directed them to the correct route.
Following the guards' instructions, Liam and his companions entered the Moonshield Tower through the Unicorn Gate on the west wall. They ascended the Silver Staircase to the Greeting Hall, where numerous servants were welcoming guests.
A butler in a black robe embroidered with gold noticed them, greeted them, and then led them upstairs. This surprised many of the other guests, as ordinary guests are usually escorted by servants. Consequently, many began to inquire about the identities of these young faces.
However, Liam and Hermione were unaware of this. By now, they were being led by the butler through a luxurious archway into the Moonshield Tower. As the Jewel of the North, tonight's dinner party attracted many wizards, who naturally employed various magic detection methods. Liam and Hermione's comprehensive set of magical artifacts indeed dazzled the eyes of the wizards present.
While the others could not see the magical auras, they still nodded in approval of the pure French court jewelry style that Liam and Hermione had learned from the Doll World.
Since no one around them was familiar, Liam and Hermione could only chat with each other to pass the time. After just a few minutes, Lady Elastron emerged in a deep blue gown adorned with sparkling diamonds. After gracefully greeting everyone, she extended her hand toward Liam and Hermione and said,
"Tonight, we welcome the legendary mage Liang and his fiancée, the powerful mage Granger, from a distant land. They will be staying in Silvermoon City for a period of study and exchange, and I hope that the casters here will engage in meaningful interactions with them."
In such introductions, nobility is usually emphasized, but for a legendary mage, the introduction is kept simple. The title of legendary alone is sufficient to denote one's noble status.
Sure enough, everyone in the room applauded in welcome. At least a third of the guests were casters, and they were both curious and welcoming to friendly colleagues from distant lands. To them, a unique magical system was a fantastic subject for research, and the exchange and learning would greatly benefit their own progress.
After a polite first dance with Lady Elastron, Liam and Hermione quickly retreated to a corner of the hall to avoid the formalities of nobility. They truly didn't enjoy such social gatherings. Fortunately, several mages approached Liam after learning he was a legendary mage, eager to seek his advice. Liam and Hermione, eager to engage in mutual learning, soon found themselves in a heated discussion, which also earned them the goodwill of these mages.
Being the host of the banquet didn't mean Lady Elastron had to stay in the main hall the entire time. After a while, she invited Liam and Hermione to join her in a nearby lounge. Several people were already seated there, and upon introduction, Liam realized they were Lady Elastron's most trusted core subordinates and allies in Silvermoon City.
The most powerful among them was Talen Hornbread, who was set to succeed Lady Elastron as the High Mage. Though not a legendary mage himself, Liam believed that with enough high-tier magic artifacts and wondrous items, Talen could hold his own against ordinary legendary mages. However, he doubted Talen's gear could match his own, given Liam's expertise as an alchemist.
Two ladies were also present: Tashandra Tilar, the representative of the Forest Church in Silvermoon City, and Sarisa Luria, a half-elf and the high priestess of the Silverstar Temple. While not particularly powerful, they represented the forces of the Deity, the Elves, and the Druids.
The discussion then turned to recent events. As outsiders, Liam and Hermione could only listen intently. They found Taren's approach to problem-solving quite to their liking, especially his willingness to tackle the root causes of issues. Facing evil, hesitation only led to more innocents being harmed.
However, Taren could sometimes be too forceful, and some of his methods were better suited for dealing with enemies rather than internal disputes. Lady Elastron clearly recognized this and began to provide Taren with the education of a competent ruler.
But this wasn't the main topic of the day. Soon, Tashandra Tilar, looking somewhat anxious, spoke up about the purpose of the gathering. Oberd the Many-Arrows posed an increasing threat to Silvermoon City. The city and its surrounding areas had seen a significant drop in merchant caravans, and several rangers had fallen to orc patrols. More critically, the orcs had caused irreversible damage to the environment, turning vast forests into barren land.
"This is why I have invited these two distinguished guests from afar", Lady Elastron said, placing her hands on the table to calm Tashandra. "I intend to request their assistance in dealing with these detestable orc raiders."
"Orc raiders, where are they?" Hermione asked, curious. "We only encountered a group of goblins when we rescued a caravan."
"Those goblins were driven out by the orc raiders", Lady Elastron explained. "If you are willing to join the fight, I will arrange for a Harper familiar with the terrain to guide you. I believe, given your skills, you should be able to handle any enemies except for Oberd the Many-Arrows and his elite guards."
"We are happy to help", Liam said after a quick exchange with Hermione via the Phoenix Mark. "However, we would like to receive corresponding knowledge as payment."
"That is certainly acceptable", Lady Elastron nodded in agreement. "Your payment will be access to all spell knowledge up to level six in two of Silvermoon City's largest magic houses. Additionally, I can personally exchange two spells with you, as long as you provide spells of equivalent level, even up to level nine."
With the terms settled, Lady Elastron smiled. "This is excellent. Normally, we would have to deploy the Silver Legion and the Arcane Guard to handle such a situation. Now, these forces can be used to maintain internal stability and guard against potential threats. After all, there are many who wish to sabotage the Silver Federation before it is established."
