Chapter 619: Lanchi Doesn't Foresee Any Problems
Chapter 619: Lanchi Doesn't Foresee Any Problems
"Lanchi, you're back."
As the door to the student council room opened, a blend of coffee and candle-scented air wafted through, and Lanchi soon spotted the president seated behind the desk.
Before him was a long table crafted from dark, polished wood, its surface so smooth it reflected the last rays of sunset streaming through the half-open, massive window. The deep red curtains swayed gently in the breeze, shimmering like theater drapes in the fading light.
It seemed the president had waited for Lanchi, as he was still in the office at this hour.
"My apologies for being late, Senior Monaste," Lanchi said as he made his way to the desk and took a seat across from the president.
However, as he passed by the lounge area to the left of the room, he noticed a woman with ash-blonde hair sitting on the student council's comfortable leather sofa. She glanced at Lanchi curiously, and he offered her a brief nod of greeting without engaging in further conversation. For now, his priority was his discussion with the president.
"There's actually no official business," Monaste said, closing the book in his hand and setting it aside. He turned his attention to Lanchi, "This time, the academic visiting team from the Kingdom of Yarloran seemed rather ordinary compared to the previous one, except for a student named Kukulka Pacas, who made a request."
"Kukulka?"
Lanchi had never heard the name before.
But from the president's expression, he gathered that this person was somehow connected to the student council.
"Do you remember Kuse? The strongest martial artist from the Yarloran Royal Academy's academic visiting team last year, who kept challenging our Fighter's Soul team. Eventually, you personally coached the Fighter's Soul team and defeated him in the martial arts competition," Monaste asked.
"I remember," Lanchi said, understanding immediately.
Last year, during the first semester, it had all started with Kuse from the Yarloran Royal Academy wanting to challenge the strongest leader of the Fighter's Soul team, Zervini. However, since Zervini had transferred to the Alchemist School to study law, Kuse resorted to tormenting and attacking members of the Fighter's Soul team, attempting to force Zervini to face him. He even spoke rudely to Hyperian when the student council members tried to communicate with him.
In the end, in a five-on-five fair competition initiated by the president, Lanchi's coaching led the Fighter's Soul team to a resounding victory.
"Kukulka is Kuse's sister," Monaste continued. "They are both nobles from the Kingdom of Yarloran."
"So, does she want to avenge her brother?" Lanchi asked, puzzled, propping his chin with his hand.
"No, at least in my opinion, she's a very reasonable woman," Monaste shook his head. "The first thing she did when she came to the student council room was to apologize to Hyperian for her brother's rudeness."
"She has applied to be an exchange student at Iceritte Academy for a year, expressing interest in the Sage's College. She also wants to join the 'Hutton Times' newspaper where Luseville works. She needs an older student from the Sage's College to show her around the campus, and as a priestess, she is very interested in Dean Lorren."
Monaste chatted casually, "Forgive my bold speculation, but it seems her main target is Dean Lorren. I thought about it and decided to ask Hyperian to show her around."
There didn't seem to be any major issues with this routine academic visit.
"I see," Lanchi said, pondering for a moment. Indeed, Hyperian would be the most suitable person for this task.
As priestesses of the Goddess of Fate, they would likely have a lot to talk about.
Therefore, it appeared that the woman currently sitting in the student council room was not Kukulka.
Kukulka had already left with Hyperian.
After chatting for a while, Lanchi realized he had been ignoring the woman sitting on the sofa in the lounge area.
"Then who is she?" Lanchi turned and looked at the sofa in the lounge, asking Monaste.
The woman indeed looked more mature than a student, exuding an innocent aura. Her features were delicate, her skin was supple, and her vivid red lips left a striking impression—seemingly natural rather than a result of makeup.
Most notably, she shared the same ash-blonde hair color as the president.
"Miss Florence, my sister," Monaste introduced her, inviting Lanchi to sit across from the ash-blonde-haired woman on the sofa. "As you know, I'm not originally from Hutton."
Lanchi turned his head to look at the president.
Iceritte Academy had many students from other countries, and Monaste clearly came from a prestigious background, yet he was not a noble of the Hutton Kingdom. His family had no roots in the Hutton Kingdom at all.
However, if the president were to marry Senior Asina in the future, he might stay in the Hutton Kingdom instead of returning to his homeland, the Kingdom of Cambella.
Understanding dawned on Lanchi as to why the president was so well-informed about Lorren. After all, it was the president who had initially spread the rumors about the dean.
"Hello, Lanchi!"
Florence waved and greeted Lanchi and Monaste with a smile, her dimples showing.
"Don't be fooled by her delicate appearance. She possesses monstrous combat talent. It's just that her true appearance lacks dignity, so she usually hides her face and voice with armor and divine magic," Monaste sighed, leaning against the sofa.
"As a result, even Dean Lorren didn't recognize her after she took off her armor."
"Oh."
Lanchi looked at Florence's amiable demeanor; to be honest, he couldn't imagine her donning a set of heavy armor either.
"So, this time you're looking for me for a personal request, President?" Lanchi inquired.
"That's right," Monaste affirmed, his arms crossed. He gestured for Florence to explain the request to Lanchi herself.
Florence glanced at Lanchi. "I'm actually quite worried about Lorren. He's been looking gloomy these past few days, but I don't know how to approach him."
She fidgeted nervously.
Even in her simple attire, one could discern her adorable and captivating qualities, and her voice was like a crisp and pleasant melody.
She had come to the Hutton Kingdom with the secret mission of investigating the mysterious cardinal, and unless necessary, she wouldn't reveal her identity as a Saint Knight Captain.
This, however, left her unsure of how to meet her dear friend.
"She heard that you can create flawless transformation magic, so she wants to commission you to make a magic card that will disguise her as a man. That way, she can openly meet Dean Lorren as his close friend," Monaste explained from the sidelines.
"A card-making commission, huh?"
This was the first formal card-making request Lanchi had received since becoming a card maker. In fact, he had never opened his availability as a registered card maker in the Card Makers' Association.
Lanchi understood the gist of it—in simple terms, Florence didn't know how to meet her online friend in person.
Dean Lorren thought his close friend was a man, and since this friend wanted to put him at ease, she wanted to disguise herself as a man.
"Is there a risk of being found out?" Lanchi asked, leaning forward slightly.
He didn't think it was a bad idea, and even if the disguise was discovered, it wouldn't be a big deal. However, there might be trouble on Dean Lorren's side.
"It's fine as long as the Ice Snow Witch doesn't find out. She's the only one in this church who knows I'm a woman. While the Ice Snow Witch has come to the Hutton Kingdom, she clearly has no interest in Lorren. As long as I stay out of her way, there shouldn't be a problem," Florence shook her head firmly.
She knew that the Ice Snow Witch, Almys, had been in the Hutton Kingdom for a long time, and had even been helping Lorren with church affairs recently. If not for Almys' assistance, Lorren might not have been able to hold on.
However, Florence suspected that the Ice Snow Witch Almys' true purpose was also to pursue the cardinal who had come from the Northern Continent.
If Almys had her own work to do, she probably wouldn't be keeping a constant eye on Lorren.
If the Ice Snow Witch were to intensely surveil Lorren, Florence would be in a dire situation.
In any case, Florence had some understanding of Almys, and she knew that the witch wasn't that kind of deranged, obsessed woman.
"No problem. What do you think of this image?" Lanchi asked as he took out some paper and a pen from under the coffee table and quickly sketched a simple drawing. It depicted a handsome youth with ash-blonde hair, retaining Florence's facial features while making her appear more masculine.
"Perfect! Can you really make me look like this, and ensure that Lorren won't see through my disguise?" Florence asked, her eyes wide as she gazed at the sketch, her vibrant red lips making her look like an energetic young woman.
"Of course. I should be able to get the card to you by tomorrow. I'll leave it with the president, and you can pick it up from him," Lanchi replied with a smile.
Whether it was to help Lorren or the president, he was more than happy to oblige.
Previously, when he had to disguise himself in the Northern Continent, he needed to make the disguise identical to his target, and it took him almost a full day to create a targeted transformation card.
This time, since he didn't need to make it exactly like the reference image and only needed to turn Florence into a male version of herself, he could finish the job much faster.
Lanchi had long since become adept at card making, and his specialty now was the Transformation magic card.
"Thank you so much, Lanchi!" Florence clapped excitedly.
Soon, she would be able to meet her dear friend!
