Chapter 618: Your Birth is Inextricable from the World's
In Seireitei, amidst the shattered streets, Feng Ye strode forward, holding Rukia's small hand while Benii, Rilis, and Nel followed closely behind.
High in the sky, Soifon hovered, still staring at Feng Ye, seemingly unable to fully process what she had just witnessed. It was only when she noticed Feng Ye's gaze that she snapped out of her daze and swiftly descended, landing before him. With a complex expression, she bowed her head.
"Your Majesty, the Hollow King."
Feng Ye halted and regarded Soifon with a curious tilt of his head. "Soifon, to whom do you pledge your allegiance?"
Soifon, whose true name was rarely used since she inherited the title of Soifon, was taken aback by Feng Ye's direct address but quickly composed herself. "I pledge my allegiance to the Shihouin family, and to Shihouin Yoruichi."
Feng Ye continued casually, "And to whom does the Shihouin family owe their allegiance?"
After a moment's hesitation, Soifon murmured, "...To the King."
As one of the four great noble families of Soul Society, with the most seats in the Central 46 Chambers, the Shihouin family was bestowed their status by the Soul King himself, centuries ago. They held the highest position and were known for their unwavering loyalty to the king.
Each generation of the four great noble families' heads swore an oath of loyalty to the Soul King, vowing to protect Soul Society. Just as Soifon had pledged her loyalty to Yoruichi, so too had Yoruichi made the same vow to the Soul King and, by extension, to Feng Ye.
In a strange twist of fate, Yoruichi's loyalty and all that she was owed now belonged to Feng Ye. Soifon, who had once thought that her prior pledge to Yoruichi prevented her from offering anything more to Feng Ye, now found herself in a peculiar situation.
The world, it seemed, had a flair for the dramatic.
Feng Ye stepped forward, his finger under Soifon's chin, a rare hint of amusement in his eyes. He gave a soft chuckle before withdrawing his hand and saying, "Then continue to serve Yoruichi well."
As those words left his mouth, Feng Ye took a step forward and raised his hand, summoning a beam of light that pierced the sky, reaching from the distant horizon.
The beam enveloped Feng Ye, along with Rilis, Nel, and the others, causing the ground beneath their feet to shatter and crumble. They ascended, carried by the light, toward the heavens.
Soifon, Yoruichi, Aizen, Yamamoto...
The captains watched as Feng Ye, bathed in a soft golden light, rose above the broken earth and into the sky.
Feng Ye's gaze swept across Aizen, Sosuke Aizen's accomplice, Ulquiorra's associate was not present however Ulquiorra's associate's accomplice Starrk's associate Baraggan's accomplice was not there however Sosuke Aizen's accomplice Ulquiorra's associate Starrk's associate Baraggan's associate Soi Fon's captain Yoruichi, and Yamamoto before he and his companions vanished beyond the horizon.
Only when Feng Ye's figure had completely disappeared, and the beam of light faded away, did Aizen and Yoruichi slowly lower their heads, the last remnants of his presence lingering in the sky.
In the silence that followed, it was Akon who finally spoke, his bald head gleaming in the light. "His Majesty, the Hollow King, has departed. We should return as well and leave the rest to you... Kisuke, let's go."
"Mmm... Okay."
Kisuke Urahara, roused from his thoughts by Akon's address, nodded and led Akon away from the distant site.
Feng Ye had the ability to open a direct path to the Soul King Palace, but the same couldn't be said for the Zero Squad. They would have to rely on the cannon of the Kisuke family to launch the Heavenly Canoness back and return home.
As the Zero Squad departed, Yamamoto remained silent for a moment before turning to the remaining captains. "Each squad will assess their losses and report back."
"Yes!"
Aizen and the other captains acknowledged the order and, after one last glance at the sky, dispersed in different directions.
Only Yoruichi remained, standing amidst the ruins of the Second Division's barracks, deep in thought. Despite her close relationship with Feng Ye, she felt a twinge of disappointment at not knowing the full truth and gaining nothing from their encounter, while her squad had suffered significant damage.
It seemed she had gotten the short end of the stick this time around.
In the Soul King Palace, a ripple disturbed the spatial fabric, and Feng Ye, with Rukia in tow, stepped out, their feet landing on the path leading to the palace. Soon after, Rilis, Nel, and Benii appeared as well.
Feng Ye had contemplated whether to bring Benii and Rukia to the Soul King Palace, but given Benii's physical condition, he needed medical attention. Feng Ye, now the Hollow King, didn't want to appear discourteous by returning without them, only to make another trip later.
As they walked along the path to the Soul King Palace, Feng Ye suddenly recalled something he had overlooked. Scratching his chin, he mused,
"It seems the Second Division endured significant losses for no reason."
Who knows, he might be misunderstood as a pervert who favored young girls and had the living world loyally 'sacrifice' a few girls to him every year.
Although there might be a bunch of girls who would scramble to 'be sacrificed' and serve him, it would still be terrible to be misunderstood in that way.
Whoosh!!
Feng Ye walked forward a few steps and then looked up at the highest palace, the Soul King's Inner Palace. He reached out and grabbed at the empty air, pulling something towards him.
Many figures were pulled out from within the palace; there were Shinigami guards, male and female attendants, totaling nearly a hundred people. They were all momentarily dazed after being displaced, but upon seeing Feng Ye, they bowed in unison.
Feng Ye paid no heed to them and instead clasped his hands together, causing the Soul King's palace to crumble and shatter, gathering towards the center. It disintegrated into its most basic form of spirit particles, becoming a shattered sphere.
Then, as he pulled his hands apart, the spirit particles scattered in all directions, re-forming into blocks of matter, and a brand new towering palace emerged.
"Your Majesty, the Hollow King... What are you...?"
The attendants of the Soul King Palace were taken aback by this display.
Feng Ye adjusted the new palace with a pinch of his fingers and then slowly lowered his hand. "There's no need to be alarmed. I am one with the Soul King, two sides of the same coin. Now that we are one, you may refer to me as either the Hollow King or the Soul King."
After saying this, Feng Ye casually waved his hand, and the end of the path leading to the Soul King Palace rose, eventually connecting with the main entrance of the new palace.
Feng Ye strode forward.
Rukia, led by him, walked forward in a daze, and Hinamori also froze in her tracks, her mind blank.
Even though she hadn't understood what had happened from the beginning and didn't know why the Court Guard Squads had fought against Rilis and Nel, at this moment, even without a clear understanding of the situation, she gradually comprehended the circumstances before her.
The Soul Society...
Had a King.
The souls in the Rukongai may not have been aware of this, but within the Seireitei, in the Second Division barracks where she had lived for a long time and frequently interacted with Soifon and Yoruichi, she knew this truth.
And Hinamori Momo, being an avid reader, had an even broader knowledge thanks to Feng Ye's presence. She had access to most books, and thus, she knew more about the Soul Society, its million-year history, its creation by two Kings, the Soul King, and the Hollow King.
"Feng... Mr. Feng Ye..."
Hinamori forced her wobbly legs to move forward and took two steps before speaking up, her voice trembling as she addressed Feng Ye. She couldn't maintain her composure.
Feng Ye stopped and turned to look at her, offering a casual smile. "There's no need to be so nervous. I'm the same as I've always been."
"Ho-How can... there be no difference...?"
Hearing Feng Ye's words, some color returned to Hinamori's pale face, but her voice still carried a tremor that she couldn't suppress.
The Hollow King!
The Soul King!
The two figures who reigned supreme over the Soul Society, who had created this world millions of years ago, the most exalted beings—she had unknowingly lived with such an existence for so many years!
She had always thought that Feng Ye held a high and noble status, but she never imagined that his existence far surpassed her expectations, to the point where the difference was immeasurable.
One could say
That the gap between her and Feng Ye was almost the measure of this world itself—the lowest common soul and the King at the pinnacle of the sky, with no greater distance conceivable.
"There really is no difference. Creating this world was merely a coincidence, and meeting you was also fate and coincidence."
Feng Ye smiled nonchalantly. "So, in essence, your encounter with me is no different from the birth of this world."
Nel closed her eyes slightly.
Feng Ye's words were difficult for her to comprehend. According to him, her encounter with him was no different from the world's creation, both being mere coincidences.
For an existence like Feng Ye, perhaps everything was just that—the birth and destruction of worlds, and all encounters, were equal and merely events.
It was like a pedestrian walking along a path.
Whether they came across a white flower or a red flower, there was no distinction.
This was a state of mind she couldn't fathom, and only an existence like Feng Ye could possess it. Thus, the look she gave him was filled with reverence, and reverence alone.
