Chapter 615: A Gift Between Father and Son (Third Update)
Chapter 615: A Gift Between Father and Son (Third Update)
Since the ancient times when the Devourer of Gods, Vatum, slaughtered a vast number of demons, the surviving demons and those born later could be counted on one hand.
And every single one of them, Mephisto knew and had dealings with.
But the demon that the Witch had transformed into was one he had never seen before.
Although the demon's power was somewhat lacking, Mephisto could indeed feel the unique demonic energy within the other party at the time.
This was very strange.
It wasn't strange because of the other party's strength; perhaps the demon was a newly born one. What was strange was that the demon had boldly appeared on Earth in its true form, and after appearing, neither the Supreme Mage nor Vishanti had taken action.
It was because of these strange circumstances that Mephisto did not rashly approach the other party but chose to observe first.
But this time, the other party had taken the Dark God's Book that was almost in Mephisto's hands, which left him feeling somewhat displeased.
Although it was just a copy, even if he hadn't obtained it, he could still search for other copies. However, the other party had clearly known it was something Mephisto wanted and still took it, which seemed to show a lack of respect.
"Perhaps, I should find a time to meet this guy!"
The last one who didn't take him seriously was the Elemental Demon Overlord Zathanos, whose power was on par with his own.
However, Zathanos' end was tragic. He was first severely injured by the collective self-destruction of the earliest Vengeful Spirits.
Then, under Mephisto's machinations, he was betrayed by his own followers and assassinated by Mephisto, who turned him into a new Vengeful Spirit, binding him in a contract with humans, making him a lifelong servant.
If given the chance, Mephisto wouldn't mind controlling this demon who could move freely on Earth.
Although the demon's strength wasn't particularly strong compared to his, on Earth, as long as the Supreme Mage and Vishanti didn't intervene, there would be no one who could match this demon named Jerry.
"Since Cysor, who is as powerful as Vishanti, is cautious, I should be careful too!"
After returning to S.H.I.E.L.D. with the Dark God's Book, Jerry didn't immediately open it but sealed it in his ring's world for the time being.
His strength was still steadily increasing, and the speed at which he was comprehending the laws of the Harry Potter Mini World was not slow. There was no need to take the risk of opening the Dark God's Book yet.
He could wait until he was absolutely sure before opening it, which would be safer.
After putting away the Dark God's Book, Jerry went to the training room and found Hermione, who was practicing close combat with Skye. He also briefly explained the situation to Skye, telling them that the matter was largely resolved and that S.H.I.E.L.D. just needed to send agents to destroy the quantum biolab.
Time passed, and there was only one day left before the Mini World cooldown ended.
Inside a villa in Queens, New York.
Aisha watched as Belle used her powers to split into eight, and she couldn't help but feel envious.
After practicing, Belle had now mastered the perfect use of her powers and no longer feared them.
She often created several duplicates to handle household chores, take care of the children, go grocery shopping, and even go to work, experiencing eight different feelings at once.
This was why Aisha envied Belle. In the Magic she had learned, there was no spell that could allow her to split herself.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have to worry about homework or academic performance anymore.
"Dad, what's wrong? You don't look very well."
Jerry looked at Has, who was leaning on the sofa, with a hint of surprise on his face.
In theory, after the regular use of the potions Jerry had been adding to his meals, Has's body should have been even better than that of a normal young adult. Yet, he looked somewhat frail.
Has glanced at Belle, who had several clones scattered around, and whispered to Jerry:
"It's nothing, just a bit of back pain recently. I'll be fine in a couple of days."
Jerry's eyes widened in realization. After a moment's thought, he pulled a bottle out of his pocket and handed it to Has.
Has took the crystal vial, looking at the black pills inside with a puzzled expression.
"What is this?"
"It's a drug we developed in the biolab. It can strengthen the body, especially—kidney-strengthening!"
Jerry replied in a low voice.
Has's eyes lit up. He knew that although Jerry was only in his senior year, his outstanding grades had already led to a research position in a biolab. He hadn't expected them to develop something so useful.
"Cough, then I'll take it."
Putting the crystal vial in his pocket, Has also pulled out a prepared handbag and handed it to Jerry.
"You're heading to school tomorrow. Hermione is a nice girl, so be careful. I knew you might be too shy to buy these things, so I prepared them for you in advance."
With that, Has winked.
As someone who had been through it, Has knew that the first time often happened unexpectedly, and at such moments, people weren't very rational. Not preparing in advance and then buying them with ill intent could lead to safety issues.
Jerry might not have thought about these things, but as a father, Has couldn't afford to overlook them.
Seeing Has's expression and tone, Jerry guessed what was in the handbag. He opened it and took a look inside:
"Insurance for love, a set for the strong."
"Gifts that come in, coats that wrap steel."
"Finite constraints, infinite happiness."
"Love her, give her a set of happiness."
Reading the slogans on the boxes, Jerry's lips twitched.
He could understand why Has had given him these, but he couldn't understand why there were so many different brands and so many boxes.
"I've been buying a lot lately. This is just a small part of it."
Has patted Jerry's shoulder and looked up at the ceiling of the living room.
"Dad, what did you give brother in that big bag?"
Aisha, who was watching TV, turned her head curiously when she heard the conversation between Has and Jerry.
Has quickly waved his hands.
"Oh, nothing, nothing. Just some essentials. I was worried your brother might have trouble buying them at school, so I got them in advance."
"Uh-huh."
Aisha's face showed a hint of suspicion. She felt that Has wasn't being entirely honest.
"I'll sneak a look when they're not around."
The clever Aisha chose not to reveal her suspicions on the spot and instead turned back to the TV.
Even when Jerry took the handbag upstairs and threw it into his room, she pretended not to notice.
It wasn't until the afternoon, when she saw Jerry helping in the kitchen, that she quietly went upstairs, entered Jerry's room, and opened the handbag.
But when she saw what was inside, her face turned bright red.
"I didn't expect Jerry and Witch sister to have progressed to this stage so quickly."
