Chapter 613: Ghost Rider Robbie (First Update)
Chapter 613: Ghost Rider Robbie (First Update)
In a hospital room at Los Angeles Hospital, a patient named Joseph was screaming wildly, his face contorted as if he had witnessed something terrifying.
Nearby, the doctors and nurses were struggling to restrain his limbs to prevent him from hurting himself.
At that moment, a ring of fire suddenly appeared in the room, and a stranger stepped through it, causing the doctors and nurses to freeze in surprise.
"Please, everyone, step outside!"
The man smiled and waved his hand, and a powerful psychic force immediately enveloped the entire room.
In an instant, all the doctors and nurses became like puppets, obediently lining up to leave the room. The patient named Joseph also stopped his frantic self-harm.
The man approached Joseph, placed his hand on the patient's head, and murmured after a few seconds:
"So, that's where it was hidden!"
Then, he vanished on the spot.
This man was none other than Jerry, who had come from S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters. While he knew the Dark Grimoire was in Los Angeles, he needed to find out its exact location from Joseph, who had hidden it.
Joseph had been forced to reveal the location of the Dark Grimoire by his wife, who had been transformed into a ghost. To prevent anyone else from learning this information, she had killed him.
From a magical perspective, it was an illusion. From a scientific perspective, it was like Dr. Strange's diagnosis report, which described amplifying the human brain's imagination to make it see terrifying scenes constantly, eventually scaring the person to death.
But for Jerry, this was child's play. A slight adjustment with his psychic power, and the illusion was dispelled.
After curing Joseph and retrieving the location of the hidden Dark Grimoire from his memories, Jerry teleported to the spot.
"Looks like someone got here before me!"
In front of an old, dilapidated house in the Los Angeles suburbs, Jerry appeared and saw a flaming skull with one hand around the neck of a female ghost, roaring loudly:
"Tell me, tell me what really happened that year! Why did you hire the mob to kill me and my brother?"
"No, we didn't want to kill you. We just wanted to stop your uncle Eli. He discovered the secret of the Dark Grimoire and wanted to obtain it to become a god. We only wanted to prevent him!"
That year, Joseph and his wife had spent years searching and finally found the legendary Dark Grimoire in the basement of this old house.
By studying the knowledge in the Dark Grimoire, they created a quantum energy machine capable of creating anything out of nothing.
Hearing this, Jerry couldn't help but marvel at how science and magic were fundamentally the same. The principles behind the quantum energy machine were similar to his improved transfiguration spell.
One was expressed through science, and the other through magic. But neither was truly creating something from nothing; they were simply converting energy. The quantum energy machine drew power from the Earth, while Jerry used his own magic power.
"But later, your uncle Eli discovered this. He wanted the Dark Grimoire and dreamed of permanently embedding the machine's power within himself, becoming a god capable of creating anything.
We hired the mafia to kill him for our own protection, but we never expected that it would result in the accidental deaths of you and your brother.
Later, Eli used the machine to transform all of us who were involved in the research into our current ghostly forms. He also turned Joseph into a vegetative state, all to force us to reveal the location of the Dark Grimoire.
I just want to use the Dark Grimoire to return to my original form. Please, let me go!"
The flaming skeleton, holding the pleading female ghost, showed no mercy. It emitted a powerful Infernal Flame, instantly reducing the female ghost to ashes.
"You are guilty and cannot be forgiven!"
After incinerating the female ghost, the skeleton turned its gaze to Jerry, who had been standing there watching the entire time.
"Whoever you are, I advise you not to interfere!"
With that, the skeleton walked toward its 1969 vintage Dodge muscle car.
However, Jerry used a Phantom Shift to block the skeleton's path between it and the car.
"Ghost Rider, leave the book in your hand, and I won't meddle in your affairs."
Indeed, the moment Jerry saw the flaming skeleton and the vintage Dodge, he knew that the person in front of him was the fourth Ghost Rider, Robbie Reyes.
When Robbie heard Jerry's demand for the Dark Grimoire, he drew his Flaming Chain, which was engulfed in Infernal Flame.
"I'm sorry, while I don't mind giving you this old book, it doesn't agree. It wants to send it back to the Dark World!"
"The Dark World. It seems Helllord Mephisto is also interested in the Dark Grimoire."
Jerry's face showed a hint of understanding.
Before becoming the Helllord, Mephisto had once borrowed the power of Zathos, so naturally, he was interested in the Dark Grimoire, which contained all of Zathos' magical knowledge.
As a Dimensional Demon, although Mephisto wasn't as powerful as Zathos, he could still resist the psychic powers of Zathos, especially in Hell, on his own territory.
In fact, Jerry's plan to obtain the Dark Grimoire and use the Ring World to resist Zathos' mental invasion and steal his knowledge and power was similar to Mephisto's plan.
However, Jerry could personally take action on Earth to seize the Dark Grimoire.
But Mephisto, due to the protection of the Ancient One and Kamar-Taj, dared not appear on Earth. He could only rely on his agent, the Ghost Rider, to complete this task.
"Then let it be separated for a moment!"
Jerry took a step and instantly appeared in front of the fourth Ghost Rider. With a single palm strike to Robbie's chest, a flaming skeleton soul was ejected from Robbie's body.
Robbie then returned to his normal human form.
The Ghost Rider is a fusion of a Vengeful Spirit and a human, infused with the power of Helllord Mephisto, making it essentially an indestructible being.
Even with Jerry's many abilities, he couldn't kill the Ghost Rider; at most, he could permanently seal it in a rice cooker.
But that would be too much of an affront to Mephisto.
Although Mephisto couldn't come to Earth, there were other Ghost Riders bound to him by covenant, not just the current Robbie. The most powerful among them is Johnny Blaze, who possesses the Eye of Judgment and a Vengeful Spirit created by the former Elemental Demonic Overlord, Zathos.
