Chapter 612: The Solution
Chapter 612: The Solution
Boom!!!
A blazing orange flame jet erupted underground.
The humans, long confined as 'livestock' in the underground, were not accustomed to such dazzling light, and amidst the cries, they shut their eyes.
Not far away, within an underground burrow, another Phase 5 Deviator was struck down by Lindsey.
With a flash of sword light, Lindsey swiftly slashed, severing the enemy's limbs and reducing them to a living maggot.
At the wound, flames continued to burn.
"Awakened!"
The Deviator attempted to scream.
But Lindsey's flaming sword swiftly pierced the ground beside its head, saying, "Listen, I know that even in death, your corpses possess the ability to resurrect."
"If you cooperate, I can spare your life."
"But if you continue with this resilient scum attitude, I'll burn all your flesh and turn it into ashes, ending your life in the Inferno!"
"..."
The Deviator was about to retort.
But upon hearing Lindsey's declaration, the fear of death compelled it to surrender:
"Wh...What do you want?"
Logically, Lindsey should have breathed a sigh of relief, even feeling delighted, when facing an enemy who surrendered.
However, his expression was solemn, or perhaps, it held a sense of helplessness.
He spoke with a heavy tone, "Tell me the actual scale of your faction, its distribution, and what devious plot you have in this world. As expected, the true target of your revenge is the City of Law in the neighboring Dust Path World, right?"
In these words, Lindsey not only asked questions but also revealed his understanding of the Deviators, or the Abyssal Sect, as a warning to the Deviator.
Yet, the truth was that Lindsey's words had no persuasive effect.
The Deviator's face contorted, and its momentary surrender quickly turned into a defiant stance:
"You'll never hear anything from me!"
"So what if I die? Come on!"
The next moment, the Deviator's flesh began to contort and swell.
Lindsey had witnessed this scene several times in the past few days.
He guessed that the Deviator was about to self-detonate, so he slid his longsword diagonally downward, severing the Deviator's head with the flaming blade.
"..."
"Each one of them has this uncooperative attitude."
After killing the Deviator, Lindsey felt a headache.
Although Deviators and Resurrected ones were of different types, their loyalty to the Abyss's ideology was terrifyingly unwavering.
Lindsey rampaged through the underground, slaughtering indiscriminately.
Each time, he left behind Deviators, but the outcomes varied.
Whether it was coercion, torture, or exposing their secrets, these Deviators refused to reveal the secrets of the past era.
The last time Lindsey obtained information was in the Black Mountain Realm, where he borrowed the body of the Extinction Crown from Red, successfully achieving his goal.
But now, he couldn't find a second Extinction Crown to act as a spy.
"Wait, should I transform myself?"
In desperation, Lindsey had a sudden idea and looked at the face-changing skill, but quickly dismissed it:
"No, how is that possible?"
"Even if I change my appearance, body, or gender, I can't mimic the crucial essence aura. My vital essence and the Extinction Crown's ability to annihilate everything are completely different."
Lindsey shook his head, intending to continue his expedition.
"Ah! Ahhhh!!!"
At that moment, cries and screams erupted from the nearby captives.
Linsey turned to see the humans, caged here, howling in terror.
"..."
"Sigh..."
Linsey let out a sigh.
Over the past few days, he had consecutively destroyed four areas managed by Deviators.
This was only the second time he had encountered such a large-scale human captivity site.
Unfortunately, Linsey was busy chasing down Deviators and couldn't stay to care for these people.
Fortunately, despite the lack of supervision, the lower-tier Deviators continued to follow their original orders and tend to the humans. The Underworld nurtured a type of fungus and light-averse plants, providing sustenance for these captives.
"First, eliminate the evil leader," Linsey reminded himself of his primary objective.
As he turned and headed deeper underground, he couldn't resist switching modules to check the Strategic Map.
Vivian, that trustworthy child, had indeed proven herself.
Riding on a Snow Wolf, she made her way back to the surface under the escort of the Little Savages.
Although she faced dangers traveling alone to deliver the message, she overcame them all.
By now, Vivian had already led the forces from Insect Gorge to their location.
The corrupted humans, though challenging to handle due to their state, were no longer in immediate danger of losing their lives.
"If I head straight up and use my Earth Escape Ability, factoring in rest stops, I can reunite with them in a day," Linsey calculated in his mind.
He then switched the map to Adventure Mode and scouted ahead.
Besides cultivating Wilted Tyrant Blossoms, he naturally continued his slaughter of Deviators, sending these despicable creatures to their rightful place!
However, today was different.
As Linsey extended his reconnaissance range, he noticed something unusual.
"Huh? The path is blocked."
Linsey furrowed his brows.
There was supposed to be an open underground tunnel ahead.
But as he approached, the dirt and rocks had been blasted into oblivion, completely sealing off the passage.
This scene was identical to the tunnels affected by the Flesh Bomb.
However, when Linsey pushed his reconnaissance range to its limits, he discovered that the collapse this time was even more outrageous!
It extended for several kilometers!
The entire Underworld seemed to have no new tunnels or burrows, as if it had been physically isolated with absolute certainty!
"After they received the information, they realized my threat. So, they've decided to stall for time," Linsey thought, still processing the situation as an adventurer.
But then, he recalled the scene he had witnessed on the Strategic Map, and the thought process of a Lord emerged:
"No, this won't do!"
"Admittedly, my killing speed is exceptional. But this is an underground area with complex terrain, and the number of enemies is on a national scale. Even if I single-handedly wipe them out, it would take more than ten years, not to mention the countless humans in need of care."
"Moreover, after I clear one area, they can play a game of hide-and-seek and return. With the entire world as their playground, it's impossible for me to eradicate them all with my current abilities."
Linsey continued to think like a Lord, making the right decision:
"To truly solve this problem, I must expand my faction's size and bring the entire world under control."
"That is the solution to this issue."
