Chapter 611: S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents Hermione (First Update)
Chapter 611: S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents Hermione (First Update)
"You're right, there's no problem with that. I am indeed a Witch, but I haven't graduated yet."
Hermione was taken aback by Hive's exclamation but quickly nodded in agreement.
That's right, she was a Witch, a fourth-year student at Hogwarts.
Hearing Hermione's admission, Hive's expression changed dramatically.
If there was one person he feared the most after returning to Earth and merging with Stephanie, it was that terrifying Witch.
He didn't really take the other Avengers seriously.
That's why he hadn't made a big move until he had gathered over a thousand mutants through S.H.I.E.L.D. before launching his attack.
He never expected that the Witch, who rarely ever showed up at the base, would actually be at S.H.I.E.L.D. today.
"Marcus, use ten thousand volts!"
Once he confirmed that the girl in front of him was indeed the Witch, Hive immediately issued an order to the last mutant who had not yet revealed his powers.
With the Witch here, completing his plan was now impossible. The most important thing now was how to escape from under the Witch's eyes.
Fortunately, for added safety, he had brought along this mutant who was not originally part of the plan.
Marcus had awaken with a lightning-based power, capable of releasing an extremely powerful electric shock that could turn anything within a few hundred meters into charred remains, with an incredibly destructive force.
However, there was a significant drawback: the charging time was too long, requiring at least a day to complete. Additionally, the attack was indiscriminate, affecting everything within range except for Marcus himself.
This was why he hadn't let Marcus use his power earlier.
If Marcus released his ability, it would not only kill the enemies but also his own subordinates and the thousands of mutants imprisoned in the warehouse.
Only Marcus and he, with his powerful self-healing ability, would survive.
That would be meaningless.
But now, the question wasn't whether it was meaningful; it was how to escape from the Witch. Even with Marcus's powerful lightning ability, he couldn't guarantee that he could kill the Witch.
After all, based on the Witch's past performance, it would be a success if it could just buy him some time.
Therefore, after ordering Marcus to release ten thousand volts, Hive instantly transformed into a large mass of parasites and flew toward the ventilation duct in the warehouse.
"Yes!"
Upon hearing Hive's command, Marcus did not hesitate. With a loud shout, his body was instantly wrapped in powerful lightning, looking even more like Thor than Thor himself.
The current Thor, without the Odinforce, should more accurately be called the God of the Hammer, as he couldn't release lightning without Mjolnir.
"Portal!"
Just as he was about to release the lightning he had been charging for a day, a large fire circle suddenly appeared under his feet.
"Ah... Splash!"
Marcus felt a chill run through his body, and the lightning inside him was instantly released.
But when he finished releasing it, he realized he was no longer in the S.H.I.E.L.D. basement warehouse but in the middle of an endless sea, surrounded by a thick layer of charred fish he had electrocuted.
It turned out that upon noticing something was off with Marcus, Hermione had immediately opened a portal under his feet, transporting him to the sea.
At the same time, Hive, who was fleeing toward the ventilation duct, crashed into a Spatial Barrier that Jerry had pre-activated, reverting to his normal human form.
"Seal!"
Seeing the situation, Jerry no longer stood by and threw a thermos with a sealing array inscribed on it.
A powerful suction force immediately appeared above Hive’s head. Hive tried to resist, but no matter how hard he struggled, his body continued to be pulled toward the thermos.
At the moment of being sucked into the thermos, Hive’s heart was in turmoil.
He had barely escaped the clutches of the Witch, only to be captured by an unknown nobody.
And for some reason, he felt that this unknown nobody standing there all along seemed even more formidable than the Witch they had just fought.
"Great job!"
After sealing the Level 1 experimental subject, Jerry removed the spatial barrier and gave a thumbs-up to Hermione, who was running toward him.
Hermione, however, modestly fidgeted with the hem of her dress.
"I still have a long way to go. If you hadn’t acted, that important guy would have escaped!"
Indeed, if Jerry hadn’t set up the spatial barrier in advance, Hive would have escaped through the ventilation duct.
Jerry, however, smiled.
"You did very well. It was your first time dealing with such a situation. Just keep practicing, and you’ll get better."
Then he turned to Coulson and asked:
"Coulson, I’d like Hermione to temporarily join your S.H.I.E.L.D. as an agent for a while. Do you think that’s possible?"
"Sure, of course. I’ll have Jemma process the paperwork for Miss Granger right away."
Coulson hadn’t expected Jerry to have such a plan. He was initially taken aback, but then his face lit up with barely contained excitement.
Although Hermione wasn’t a true Witch like Jerry, it was clear that her magic belonged to the same system. They had witnessed her power firsthand—she had taken on five opponents, easily defeating four and forcing the formidable Hive to flee.
Her addition would undoubtedly provide significant assistance to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s future operations.
Moreover, it was obvious to anyone with eyes that Miss Granger was Jerry’s girlfriend.
Having Jerry’s girlfriend join S.H.I.E.L.D. as an agent would be the perfect opportunity to strengthen their relationship with Jerry. There was no way he would refuse.
Hearing that she could join S.H.I.E.L.D., this special muggle organization, and experience a month of agent life, Hermione’s eyes sparkled with anticipation.
"Harry and Ron would be so surprised if they knew I was an agent in the muggle world for a while."
As a Gryffindor Witch, Hermione’s adventurous spirit was just as strong as her academic prowess.
At Hogwarts, the school rules and the Ministry of Magic’s laws kept many of her impulses in check. Now, in this new world, many of those constraints were lifted, and her adventurous spirit became even more evident.
This was evident in her proactive suggestion to engage with the tech-enhanced superhumans and her eagerness to experience life as an S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.
Thus, without waiting until the next day, on the same night as the capture of Hive and his group, Hermione, with Coulson’s full support, successfully joined S.H.I.E.L.D. as an agent.
She temporarily joined Skye’s superhuman team, with Skye guiding her through her missions.
