Chapter 610: A Major Incident is About to Unfold!
Chapter 610: A Major Incident is About to Unfold!
As expected, their actions had been noticed.
Yoruichi Shihoin, observing the changing expressions of the captains within the First Division barracks, closed her eyes slightly. She knew that Nel's situation would eventually be exposed.
On one hand, Feng Ye and Nel had made no attempt to conceal themselves when they returned. On the other hand, trying to hide an existence with a spiritual pressure different from that of a normal soul in the Seireitei was indeed not an easy task, unless one stayed hidden within a barrier at all times.
"Do you know about this, Captain of the Second Division?"
As Yamamoto Genryusai Shigekuni walked out of the barracks, leaning on his cane, he looked in Yoruichi's direction and asked in a low voice.
The reason he gave the order to go to the Second Division first and then questioned Yoruichi was that the incident was too egregious, and since Yoruichi had not reported it proactively, no matter how Yoruichi responded, the Second Division would inevitably be involved.
Yoruichi, wearing the white captain's haori of the Second Division, looked at Yamamoto and replied calmly, "I am aware of this matter."
"Then why didn't you report it?"
Yamamoto's tone turned heavier.
Yoruichi looked directly at Yamamoto and said, "I haven't had the chance to report it yet, and my vice-captain said he has other plans."
"..."
Yamamoto stared at Yoruichi for a moment and said solemnly, "You should be clear about what you're doing, Captain of the Second Division."
Leaving these words behind, he strode out of the First Division barracks.
The many captains behind them glanced at each other and then at Yoruichi, who was standing there. They, too, followed Yamamoto out.
Watching Yamamoto and the other captains leave one by one, Yoruichi took a slight breath and glanced in the direction of the Second Division barracks.
Trouble had indeed arrived.
She didn't know what Feng Ye was planning, so even if she wanted to help conceal things, she didn't know how to get involved. Moreover, the current situation was not something she could directly stop. She could only wait to see how Feng Ye would explain things to Yamamoto.
Regardless, she still felt that Feng Ye did not have the intention to become an enemy of the Soul Society or pose a threat to it. This was her intuition and her judgment based on her long association with Feng Ye.
"Captain Shihoin."
Just as Yoruichi was about to follow the other captains out, a clear and pleasant voice reached her ears.
Yoruichi turned to see Retsu Unohana, the captain of the Fourth Division, walking up beside her. Her sleeves were joined in front of her, and her hands were clasped within the sleeves.
All the captains had already left the barracks, and only Yoruichi and Unohana remained inside, still making their way out.
"How well do you know Vice-Captain Hatake Kakashi?" Unohana asked softly as she walked alongside Yoruichi.
Yoruichi and Unohana walked side by side out of the First Division captain's barracks and into the corridor outside. Yoruichi replied in a low voice, "To be honest, I don't know much about him."
"Even though he is my vice-captain, I cannot see through his strength or the thoughts in his heart. But one thing I am certain of is that he is not an enemy of the Soul Society."
A faint light flashed in Unohana's eyes as she heard Yoruichi's answer. "How did you come to that conclusion?"
"Intuition," Yoruichi said, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Unohana.
Unohana held Yoruichi's gaze for two seconds, then continued walking forward. Slowly, she said, "I... share the same judgment as you."
Hearing Unohana's words, Yoruichi paused in her steps and looked at Unohana's back, a thoughtful expression on her face. Then, she quickened her pace to catch up.
Just as Yoruichi was about to ask Unohana why she had made such a judgment, Unohana suddenly looked up at the sky. A faint light flashed in the depths of her eyes, and she asked again, "Then, is Vice-Captain Kakashi in the barracks now?"
"He should be," Yoruichi nodded. "I went to see him ten minutes before the alarm sounded. He should still be in the Second Division, waiting for orders."
"I see," Unohana said, her thoughts momentarily distracted. She quickly dismissed the idea from her mind and, along with Yoruichi, caught up with the other captains, making their way towards the Second Division.
Along the way, the Shinigami they passed, upon seeing the captains of the Gotei 13, led by the head captain Yamamoto Genryusai Shigekuni, out in full force, were nearly all shocked.
Combining this with the earlier event where the spiritual particles in the entire Soul Society seemed to be shaking and trembling... almost everyone arrived at the same conclusion: Something big was about to happen!
Indeed, this was the case. If Feng Ye were just an ordinary vice-captain who had gotten involved with a Hollow, Yamamoto would not have immediately ordered all the captains to take action and head to the Second Division barracks to investigate the situation.
At most, he would have sent a single captain to accompany Yoruichi.
The reason he did this was because Feng Ye's spiritual pressure was so powerful that it surpassed that of a typical captain-level Shinigami, and his strength was equally formidable. If such an existence were to pose a threat to the Soul Society, it would be an extremely serious matter, and there was no doubt that the highest level of alertness would be required to respond!
...
Second Division Barracks.
A large number of Second Division members and Hidden Mobile Unit members had gathered in the plaza behind the barracks' main entrance.
Although the previous emergency summons by the Gotei 13 captains had only been directed at the captains of each division, each division had nevertheless entered a state of maximum alertness, with all members on standby.
"That guy..." Soi Fon frowned slightly.
Although Feng Ye had mentioned to her and Yoruichi Shihoin earlier that he would be going into seclusion for a period of cultivation, the current situation warranted the highest level of alert, and regardless of the type of seclusion cultivation, Feng Ye, as the vice-captain, should have been here first to stand by for orders.
Upon realizing that Feng Ye hadn't shown up, she had also sent people to look for him, but they hadn't returned yet, and she still didn't know what Feng Ye was up to.
Just as Soi Fon was deep in thought, she sensed something, and her expression changed slightly as she turned her head towards the direction outside the main entrance of the Second Division barracks.
Numerous figures appeared in the distant street beyond the main entrance.
Even from a distance, it was clear that they weren't wearing the standard black shihakusho of Shinigami but rather the white captain haori—they were the captains of the Gotei 13!
In just a moment, the captains had arrived at the entrance of the Second Division barracks. Leading them was an elderly man with a long beard that nearly touched the ground, leaning on a cane—it was none other than the captain-commander, Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto!
Soi Fon's expression shifted slightly as she looked at the captain-commander and the other captains who had entered without ceremony. She immediately bowed and said, "Captain-Commander!"
As she bowed, a sense of foreboding filled her.
As expected, Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto fixed his gaze on her and asked in a stern voice, "Where is Vice-Captain Hatake Kakashi?!
All the captains of the Gotei 13 were present, and the captain-commander himself had led the group. Such a grand display, coupled with the direct inquiry about Feng Ye's whereabouts, undoubtedly signaled that something significant had happened involving Feng Ye, and Soi Fon immediately guessed what it was about.
Feng Ye had brought back a being with a spiritual pressure unlike that of a Shinigami, something akin to a Hollow yet also resembling an Arrancar—Neliel Tu Oderschvank! It must be that her presence had been discovered!
Perhaps,
Something big was about to go down!
"I'm not sure. Vice-Captain Hatake Kakashi didn't come to the assembly," Soi Fon replied, taking a breath. At that moment, she couldn't afford to think too much, and hearing Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto's sharp question, she could only respond in a low voice.
Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto glanced inside the Second Division barracks and said, "Lead the way to his residence!"
"...Yes," Soi Fon replied, lifting her head to meet Yoruichi Shihoin's gaze, who was standing behind Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto. She took a breath and turned, walking towards the interior of the barracks.
Led by Soi Fon, the captains soon arrived at the courtyard where Feng Ye, the vice-captain of the Second Division, resided, surrounding the entire area from multiple directions.
"I can't sense Vice-Captain Hatake Kakashi's spiritual pressure," said Shunsui Kyoraku, leaping onto the roof and standing on the eaves, his hat pressed down as he spoke.
Jushiro Ukitake, standing next to him, stared at the small courtyard below and said in a low voice, "I can't sense Vice-Captain Hatake Kakashi's spiritual pressure either, but I do sense a spiritual pressure that's different from a normal soul..."
Boom!!! Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, leaning on his cane, strode forward to the front and arrived at the small courtyard's main entrance. He unleashed a surge of spiritual pressure directly at the closed gate, causing it to explode open.
After blowing the gate open, Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto took a step forward and marched into the courtyard, shouting at the houses within, "Everyone inside, come out!"
Boom!!! Along with Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto's shout, a wave of spiritual pressure surged towards the few houses, a display of power comparable to that of a vice-captain. It wasn't meant to suppress everyone directly but rather as a warning and a show of force.
Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto raised his cane and brought it down heavily on the ground, and the overwhelming spiritual pressure immediately dissipated, not lingering.
The entire courtyard fell into a tense silence.
After about a few seconds, two figures emerged from one of the houses, their faces pale and cold sweat dripping from their foreheads. They were Hinamori Momo and Kuchiki Rukia, clearly having endured significant pressure from Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto's sudden release of spiritual pressure.
Hinamori and Rukia had been in the Seireitei for some time.
Although they hadn't met all the captains, they had encountered a few, and they could easily recognize the white captain haori of the Gotei 13 captains.
What was happening?!
Hinamori tightly hugged Rukia, and Rukia hugged her back. The sisters were both stunned by the scene before them and couldn't utter a word.
Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto only glanced at Hinamori and Rukia once before shifting his gaze away, paying them no further mind as he focused on the houses directly ahead.
"Still not coming out?" he said, his eyes narrowing slightly before opening again, a sharp glint flashing in them. Once more, he raised his cane.
