Chapter 61: Brother Jing?!
Chapter 61: Brother Jing?!
Xue Jing followed the driver, Zhao, into the automatic doors of the Ruizhu Hotel.
His attire was simple and unassuming, but his exceptional looks and aura drew attention as he made his way through the hotel.
"Hmm? Who's that?"
A young man with a sturdy build, dressed in a white outfit designed for ease of movement, and a resolute expression, pointed at Xue Jing from a distance and asked curiously.
"Judging by his clothes, he seems to be a martial artist. He's probably not a second-generation heir here for the banquet... I wonder which dojo he's from? Could he be one of the security personnel? But he seems a bit too young."
Standing next to him was a man in a suit. He glanced at Xue Jing and Zhao, then smiled as he racked his brains, "Mr. Li, he's probably a top disciple from the Canglong Dojo."
Li Zhaoquan moved his eyes slightly, a puzzled expression on his face. "I've met all six of Master Longwang's personal disciples, including that little girl. I don't recognize this kid."
"Are you saying Master Longwang isn't allowed to take on new disciples?" someone nearby teased.
Li Zhaoquan turned to look at the speaker.
"Zhang Daqing, you're here too?"
The tall and slender Zhang Daqing, dressed in a dark blue suit, walked forward, placing his elbow on Li Zhaoquan's shoulder. He nodded towards Xue Jing in the distance. "Master Longwang once said he wanted to take on seven disciples. This might be the seventh disciple, kept hidden from the public eye. He must have been secretly trained for a long time, and Master probably intends to use him to make a striking impression."
Li Zhaoquan scoffed, "What can a kid whose hair has barely grown out do? At best, he's here to gain some experience and not cause any trouble today. It's already impressive that Master is letting him tag along and share in the glory."
He glanced at Xue Jing's appearance and chuckled, "Who knows, maybe Master brought this pretty boy here to charm some of the rich ladies and their daughters."
Zhang Daqing clicked his tongue and shook his head. "Don't underestimate him. I doubt you could even beat him. Look at his lower body stance; each step he takes is the same distance, not a bit more or less. His upper body doesn't sway at all, indicating exceptional body control and a well-trained skill in exerting force."
Li Zhaoquan remained unconvinced, flexing the large muscles on his arm. "So what if he can use his strength efficiently? Even if he can make one unit of strength feel like ten, it won't matter when faced with a hundred or a thousand units of strength. He'd still be knocked out with one punch."
Zhang Daqing rolled his eyes. "There's no point talking to you muscleheads."
...
"Mr. Xue, look."
Zhao retrieved a piece of paper from the hotel lobby and unfolded it in front of Xue Jing. "This is a map of the banquet hall."
He pointed to a section of the map that was circled. "Today, we've invited six masters, and each of you is responsible for securing a specific area. This is your zone."
"Once you enter the banquet hall, this area will be your responsibility."
Xue Jing carefully studied the map, committing it to memory, and then nodded with a smile. "Don't worry, leave it to me."
As they walked toward the elevator, Zhao continued to brief Xue Jing on several other important matters, which he committed to memory.
After all, he was here to earn money, so he maintained a serious work ethic.
Following Zhao through several elevators, Xue Jing arrived at the twenty-second floor of the Ruizhu Hotel.
"Just walk straight down the corridor, and you'll reach the banquet hall. Today, Young Master Ye has booked the entire floor and instructed that no one should come close unless necessary. I'm not allowed to enter, so I'll have to leave you here."
Zhao maintained his usual courteous attitude.
Xue Jing nodded and turned toward the banquet hall.
Before long, he reached a set of double doors and pushed them open.
Xue Jing had assumed that the banquet hosted by these wealthy and privileged young heirs and heiresses would be akin to those depicted in movies, with elegant men and women socializing gracefully to the tune of mellow piano music, discussing topics that were beyond the reach of the average person.
However, as he pushed open the doors to the banquet hall, he was greeted by a cacophony of banging and thumping noises.
"Everybody—"
"Let's get hyped!!!"
Amid the raucous cheers, the neon lights flashed wildly across the venue.
Xue Jing paused, taken aback by the unexpected sight of a DJ booth in the center of the grand hall and the DJ atop it, clad in hip-hop attire, donning headphones, and relentlessly rubbing his palms against the turntable.
"Hmm, did I come to the wrong place?"
He quietly stepped back out and checked the floor number.
22nd floor, Banquet Hall.
"This is the right place, isn't it?"
He pushed the doors open again and stepped inside.
The lively, rhythmic music filled the air once more, and Xue Jing took in the surroundings of the banquet hall. The ceiling was adorned with exquisite, ornate crystal chandeliers, while the walls were embellished with artistic murals and sculptures. The floor was covered in a intricate patterned carpet, and the overall decor exuded a classical style.
The only oddity was the out-of-place DJ booth in the middle of the room...
"You guys really know how to party," Xue Jing commented dryly.
They had specifically booked this luxurious hotel banquet hall just to change up their clubbing venue?
Xue Jing shook his head, amused, as he watched dozens of well-dressed young people grooving to the pulsating music. However, he didn't pay it much mind.
After all, he was here solely for the security job, and what the attendees chose to do was none of his concern.
Even if he had walked in on them playing a game of improv, his task for the day would remain unchanged.
Xue Jing surveyed the hall, cross-referencing it with the map he had memorized earlier, before making his way to his assigned area and beginning his security patrol.
From a distance, he spotted several individuals with distinctive physiques and auras who were clearly martial artists—likely the other dojo disciples hired by the Ruizhu Hotel for security.
Just then, the lively music reached its climax and came to an end, and with the final beat, the crystal chandeliers on the ceiling illuminated the entire hall, dispelling the dim lighting.
A group of ten or so staff members entered through the main doors and began dismantling the DJ booth, carrying its parts out piece by piece.
Xue Jing nodded to himself; it seemed that the DJ session was just one part of the evening's entertainment and not the main event.
As the lights brightened the hall, his striking appearance became more noticeable.
"Ooh, who's that?" some of the young ladies from wealthy families nearby whispered excitedly, their eyes sparkling with interest.
Before they could make a move, however, a man with a sturdy build and dressed in white activewear strode up to Xue Jing.
"Are you the new personal disciple of the Canglong Dojo?" the man asked bluntly, standing directly in front of Xue Jing.
The commotion drew the attention of those nearby.
Not far away, a few men and women holding wine glasses paused their conversation and turned to look in Xue Jing's direction.
"Hmm? What's going on over there?"
Ye Chenlin, the organizer of the banquet, furrowed his brows in confusion.
"Looks like a conflict between the two security personnel hired by the Ruizhu Hotel," someone replied, a hint of curiosity in their voice.
"Let's go check it out!"
Ye Chenlin immediately suggested, a smile spreading across his face.
Several people, including Pei Youguang, followed him toward Xue Jing.
Pei Youguang scratched his head as he trailed behind his older brother, Pei Tiancheng.
When they drew closer, Pei Youguang glanced casually at the two security personnel in conflict and raised his cup to take a sip of wine—but then he abruptly spat it out.
"J-Jing... Brother Jing?!"
His eyes widened in shock as he recognized the familiar figure standing amidst the crowd.
