Chapter 609: Let's Go to the Second Division!
Chapter 609: Let's Go to the Second Division!
"This transformation isn't as intense as the last one."
Feng Ye contemplated the changes within his body, a thoughtful look on his face.
Unlike his previous metamorphosis in the One-Punch Man world, where his combat strength had skyrocketed to stellar levels, this time the changes were less drastic.
Stellar evolution is a lengthy process, and his current transformation was progressing gradually. Although he harnessed the power of a star with his human body, accelerating his transformation countless times faster than a typical star, it seemed that, at this rate, it would still take centuries to reach a critical point.
Only then would there be a true explosive breakthrough.
Having made this assessment, Feng Ye turned his attention back to observing the other consequences of consuming the Soul King's power.
Manipulating the Soul King's power was more challenging than controlling the evolutionary power he had obtained in the One-Punch Man world, or perhaps it was just that every action now felt as though his entire being was entangled in countless silken threads.
Tugging on any one of those threads would cause unrest in the Soul Society.
The reason was simple: the Soul King himself was the pillar supporting both the Soul Society and the Hueco Mundo. Absorbing the Soul King's power meant that he had become the very foundation of these two worlds.
Five percent of the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo's makeup originated from the Soul King's power, and now that Feng Ye had supplanted him, that percentage had skyrocketed to a full hundred.
In other words, now that he had perfectly fused with the Soul King's power, his every action could reverberate through the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, as if his body were physically connected to these two worlds.
Thus, to perfectly control the Soul King's power, he also had to make minute adjustments to these two worlds, or else he might inadvertently cause all sorts of disasters.
When Yhwach obtained the Soul King's power, he had immediately attempted to fuse the three worlds, unifying them into one. Consequently, it appeared that he had no difficulty manipulating the power because he never intended to control it in the first place.
"Manipulating this power... well, it's a little more challenging than I expected."
Feng Ye murmured to himself before closing his eyes, hanging quietly in the air as he bathed in the faint white light.
Since the slightest touch of those threads could disturb the worlds, he now needed to scrutinize his own state more carefully, gathering and setting those threads aside in a different manner.
This was not a difficult task for him.
After all, he possessed the Eye of God, which allowed him to see the past and future with a mere glance. He could directly observe how the Soul King had managed this power in the past, emulate his methods, and then adjust them to suit his own needs.
As Feng Ye closed his eyes and began making slow adjustments, the shaking in the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo gradually ceased, and the previous unrest did not recur.
"It's finally over."
Standing outside the palace in the Soul King's Palace, the members of the Zero Division, led by Ichibei Hyosube, soon sensed that everything had calmed down. They turned their gazes toward the palace.
Ichibei Hyosube pressed his hands together, took a deep breath, and slowly exhaled.
Feng Ye had likely absorbed the Soul King's power, which meant that one of the two supreme kings who had created the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo a million years ago—the Soul King—had truly perished.
Not only his consciousness but even his power had ceased to exist.
From now on, there would be only one king of the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, and that was—the Hollow King, Feng Ye!
Having absorbed the Soul King's power, Feng Ye had also become the pillar of the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo. In other words, with a mere thought, Feng Ye could bring about the destruction of these two worlds.
However, it seemed that after completing this feat, Feng Ye had no intention of doing so. Instead, he appeared to be trying to stabilize the situation in the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, as evidenced by the swift cessation of the unrest and the rapid stabilization of the spiritual energy fluctuations.
"Phew..."
"The Hollow King is indeed one of the creators of this world."
Standing beside him, Nimaiya Oetsu also heaved a sigh of relief.
Based on the current situation, it seemed that the Soul Society was safe and that Feng Ye had no intention of destroying it. However, it was unclear how the Soul Society would change in the future due to Feng Ye's will.
"I'll continue to stand guard here. All of you may return."
Ichibei Hyosube glanced at Nimaiya Oetsu and the others before addressing them.
Tsukishima Shakuraki nodded slightly and said, "I shall also return to prepare suitable attire for the Hollow King."
"I'll go and prepare a meal."
Yorozuya Yuro also nodded in agreement.
After exchanging glances, the group went their separate ways, each returning to their respective palace in the Seireitei. Only Ichibei Hyosube remained, standing guard at the main entrance of the Soul King's Palace.
After a moment of contemplation, he seemed to realize something. He reached back to scratch his head, then took out a piece of white paper and waved his enormous brush through the air a few times. Words began to appear on the paper.
He then rolled up the paper, brought his hands together...
Snap!
...and the paper disappeared as light points in his palm.
...
Soul Society.
Seireitei, First Division Barracks.
After the intermittent tremors in the Soul Society finally ceased for more than three minutes, the captains, who had been leaning against the windows or staring at the sky, gradually regained their senses.
Kisuke Urahara ran a hand through his hair and said, "I think it's over?"
Sosuke Aizen also looked up, his expression serious, but a subtle ripple flashed through his eyes.
Soifon stood at a distance, squinting as she fixed her gaze on Aizen.
Aizen, sensing Soifon's stare, turned towards her and offered a harmless, peaceful smile. "It seems the danger has passed, Captain Soifon."
"It's not certain yet," Soifon replied, shifting her gaze upwards. "We haven't received any news from the Royal Palace yet."
Not long after Soifon's words trailed off, a small sphere of white light appeared before Yamamoto Genryuusai Shigekuni, as if squeezed out from the space itself. It popped, revealing a rolled-up piece of paper.
"...' Yamamoto reached out and took the note, reading its contents.
On the paper was a single line: 'All is well.'
After reading the message, Yamamoto slowly closed his eyes. With a gentle flick of his fingers, the paper ignited, turning into spirit particles and vanishing into thin air.
The other captains, witnessing this, turned their gazes towards Yamamoto. Undoubtedly, the message had come from the Royal Palace.
"All is well," Yamamoto repeated, his eyes now open as he addressed the other captains, his voice steady.
Hearing Yamamoto's assurance, the captains in the room breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Kyoraku Shunsui adjusted his hat and said, "Well, that was a nerve-wracking experience."
A drop of sweat slid down Jushiro Ukitake's forehead as he furrowed his brows. With the arm of the Soul King sealed within him, he vaguely sensed that something had indeed happened, but he couldn't pinpoint any danger. However, he could feel that the Soul Society had stabilized once more.
Mayuri shrugged and said, "Since nothing's amiss, shall we disband?"
"Not yet," Yamamoto calmly interjected. "Since we're all here, let's take this opportunity to hold an early Captain's Meeting and discuss a few recent matters."
Yamamoto paused briefly before continuing, "Currently, there are two matters to address. First, I propose that Koma Muramasa be appointed as the acting captain of the Seventh Division. Second, I propose that Tosen Kaname be appointed as the acting captain of the Ninth Division."
"Koma Muramasa?" Kyoraku asked, glancing at Yamamoto.
Kisuke Urahara tilted his head and said, "If I recall correctly, Koma is a unique soul from the Wolf Clan, isn't he?"
"Indeed," Yamamoto confirmed. "But he possesses the capabilities to lead a division. For now, he will serve as an acting captain."
Kyoraku shrugged his shoulders. "If Old Man Yama trusts him, I have no objections."
The other captains exchanged glances and voiced no opposition.
"Then it's settled for now," Yamamoto said, tapping his cane on the floor. After a brief pause, he swept his gaze across the room, his tone level as he asked, "Are there any other matters to report?"
Soifon's eyes flickered towards Aizen, lingering on him for a few seconds before she finally looked away. Aizen, meanwhile, turned his attention to Ukitake, studying his demeanor. A thoughtful look appeared in Aizen's eyes.
Mayuri, on the other hand, rolled his eyes and looked up at the ceiling.
Kisuke glanced at Soifon and hesitated for a moment.
Just as Yamamoto was about to rap his cane on the floor to signal the end of the meeting, Kisuke spoke up, addressing Yamamoto. "Captain-Commander, there's one matter..."
"One of my subordinates noticed that Abarai Renji, the vice-captain of the Second Division, brought a stranger into the Seireitei. According to my subordinate, this stranger's spiritual pressure...seemed reminiscent of a Hollow."
The room fell silent at Kisuke's words.
All the captains turned to stare at Kisuke, their gazes intense. Kisuke, feeling awkward under their scrutiny, scratched his head awkwardly.
Yamamoto fixed his gaze on Kisuke, his voice grave. "Are you certain?"
'A Hollow's spiritual pressure!'
The Soul Society had extremely strict regulations regarding contact with Hollows, especially given the recent Hollowification incident. If Abarai Renji was indeed involved with Hollows, it would be an extremely serious matter!
"I asked several of my team members, and they all said the same thing," Kisuke replied after a brief hesitation.
Yamamoto's eyes flickered, and he closed them briefly before opening them again, his eyes sharp. "Let's go to the Second Division!" he declared, striding forward.
