Chapter 608: Lanchi and Shubelly Ann's Past
Chapter 608: Lanchi and Shubelly Ann's Past
The film opened with a grand hall, pillars of light crisscrossing and cascading down from the wall sconces, illuminating the demon-style palace.
Tier after tier of fan-shaped seats unfolded from low to high, forming a spacious semi-circular seating area.
Even without communicating, Shubelly Ann and Lanchi could recognize the venue as the Regent Hall of the Nakalis Demon King's Palace from the scenes depicted.
Numerous demon nobles and a blood tribe envoy were gathered, resembling the scene from the day of the Shadow World's Painting Selection Ceremony. The only difference was the empty throne, devoid of the princess's presence.
The atmosphere in the Regent Hall seemed tense, with the initially harmonious negotiations between the blood tribe and the demon tribe taking a sudden turn for the worse.
As soon as the opening moment arrived, the Fourth Progenitor, Eduardo, on the platform opposite the throne, unleashed a dazzling red light from his eyes, his body cracking and exuding a terrifying blood-colored magic power.
In an instant, the formidable magic power coalesced, and amidst the chaotic noises, all the demons realized what was happening.
The Fourth Progenitor, Eduardo, was about to employ an unknown forced self-detonation spell at a moment when the great demons were gathered.
Within the Regent Hall, Generals Mist and Thunder were the first to react, directing their attacks toward the Fourth Progenitor's location.
Their eyes reflected anger and gravity as they struggled to comprehend why the Fourth Progenitor possessed abilities akin to those of the Sixth Progenitor, and why they couldn't control him even after triggering his powers!
Subsequently, Eduardo's body swelled, the blood-colored radiance becoming ever more dazzling. The cracks on his skin spread like a spider web, and in a mere moment, he was nearing his limit, his lips frothing with blood as he let out an ear-piercing roar.
Even through the screen, Shubelly Ann cowered, for this historical moment was far more perilous than what she had experienced in the Nakalis King's Palace.
In the Shadow World, Fall Lord Kaliyela had been prepared to take action, but here, the Fourth Progenitor, Eduardo, had almost immediately unleashed the Sixth Progenitor's power of Blood Destruction.
Eduardo transformed into a massive ball of red light, imbued with endless rage and destructive power, poised to engulf every corner of the Nakalis King's Palace.
"Stop, Eduardo!!!"
Accompanying Kaliyela's furious shout, she finally caught up and unleashed her Fall into the Gentle Night without holding back.
An invisible wave of magic power abruptly swept through the space of the Regent Hall, preventing the fierce red light from continuing to erupt and allowing Eduardo to persist.
Time seemed to freeze throughout the entire Nakalis Regent Hall.
All the demons and blood tribe members were immobilized, their figures frozen in place like stone statues.
At this point, Lanchi and Shubelly Ann knew which day Kaliyela had recorded.
"Even without the Princess's Painting Selection Ceremony, did the blood tribe still intend to send the Fourth Progenitor, Eduardo, a remnant of their bloodline, to destroy the core of the Demon King's City?"
Lanchi shook his head helplessly.
The Demon King had perished in a battle with the Second Progenitor, the Blood Tribe Prince, who had also sustained severe injuries. However, the Fourth Progenitor replicated the healing abilities of other blood tribe members, sharing his bloodline origin with the Second Progenitor to expedite his recovery.
Subsequently, the Fourth Progenitor replicated the powers of the Sixth Progenitor, feigning peace negotiations as a prelude to initiating a war with the demon tribe.
"Wait, according to this development, how will Fall Lord Kaliyela deal with the Tenth Progenitor, Ulysses?"
Shubelly Ann fixed her gaze on the precarious scene in the Demon King's Palace.
At this moment, even though Fall Lord Kaliyela had successfully executed her spell, she showed no signs of relaxation, beads of sweat forming on her forehead.
The sole drawback of "Fall into the Gentle Realm" was that it was a large-scale barrier spell that made no distinction between enemies and allies. While it could forcibly restrain the Fourth Progenitor, Eduardo, it also trapped all friendly forces within the Nakalis King's Palace in the Gentle Realm illusion.
Chapter 608: Lanchi and Shubelly Ann's Past (continued...)
Maintaining Eduardo's dream state and preventing him from breaking free to continue his [Blood Destruction] required a tremendous amount of concentration, even for Kaliyela, a Ninth-rank demon. She had to expend all her energy to keep this destructive bomb under control, her eyes half-open as she glared at Esmod, the True Night Lord, sitting on the sidelines.
With her remaining strength, Kaliyela observed the dreams of the other high-ranking demons, countless images flooding her mind. Among the demons, the one with the best chance of quickly breaking free from the Fall into the Gentle Night was the True Night Lord.
However, an unexpected noise reverberated through the quiet palace, causing the Falling Lord's body to tremble as she regained consciousness and looked up, dazed.
On the Blood Tribe's seats, directly opposite the throne, the Tenth Progenitor, Ulysses, had made his move. He casually pointed in the direction of the True Night Lord.
"My apologies, are you waiting for her?" Ulysses asked with a relaxed air, his legs casually crossed as he seemed to have effortlessly broken free from the illusion. His blood-red eyes were clear and focused, and his amused smile seemed to mock the Falling Lord's spell, [Fall into the Gentle Night].
Hearing Ulysses' calm words, Kaliyela felt as if she had fallen into an ice pit.
The Tenth Progenitor, Marquis Ulysses, chuckled softly and raised his hand, effortlessly shattering the thin barrier that enveloped the palace. "Choose, Kaliyela. Will you wait for me to come to you and kill you, or will you voluntarily release your control now, abandon these great demons, and perhaps survive the explosion and escape?" he asked nonchalantly.
It was a game of wits. For Kaliyela, choosing the former would mean the death of all the great demons, but the latter offered her a chance to survive.
"Then let's see who's faster, you breaking through the barrier or one of the great demons waking up," Kaliyela replied, her head lowered, her voice trembling slightly as she struggled to maintain her composure. She knew that Ulysses was trying to make her waver and give up on the possibility of a demon waking up before he reached her.
"Tsk, what a stubborn female demon," Ulysses sighed, clearly unimpressed with Kaliyela's resolve.
Slowly, he turned his gaze to the left of the seats, where a small wolf demon sat. Initially, he had intended to let the Fourth Progenitor, Eduardo, succeed in his self-detonation. But now, he changed his mind. If possible, he would take this poorly disguised little she-wolf with him.
She possessed an excellent bloodline, and starting with her, they could cultivate a slave wolf race, a strategic advantage for the Blood Tribe.
Outside the shadow painting.
"Someone, please help Kaliyela," Shubelly Ann muttered anxiously.
She realized that the little she-wolf who had caught Ulysses' attention was none other than her own Sigil. In the true course of history, the Blood Tribe had failed to capture a demon princess, and now Sigil had become their new target!
Suddenly, in the midst of the demon seats, Shubelly Ann noticed a familiar yet unfamiliar figure sitting beside Sigil—a Radiant Demon.
Her eyes widened in surprise.
The Radiant Demon had horns that resembled white jade exoskeletons, but they were cracked and dull. Unlike Lanchi, his hair was white and somewhat messily tied, resting on his shoulders.
He kept his head lowered, as if deeply entrenched in a dream from which he couldn't awaken.
