Chapter 608: Keeping a Low Profile, Hals
Chapter 608: Keeping a Low Profile, Hals
Ivan ignored Rita Skeeter’s furious gaze, cleared his throat, and began speaking.
"You can write it like this... **Hogwarts Champion** Ivan Hals is an outstanding student with exceptional character, known for his kindness and enthusiasm. He is affectionately called the **Gryffindor Hero** and the **Hogwarts Star** by his classmates and friends at school!
His commendable deeds are numerous, such as defeating a **Troll** during his first year, using his remarkable **Wisdom** to uncover the disguises of several **Defense Against the Dark Arts Professors**, and even developing the **Wolfsbane Potion**. Despite these achievements, he remains incredibly humble, stating that he has long forgotten about these past events and they are not worth mentioning!
According to an unnamed **Student**, every **Professor** who has taught him speaks highly of him. His dedication to learning is likely a significant reason for his impressive achievements..."
Ivan spoke fluently, describing his excellent qualities and modest personality as objectively as possible.
If it weren't for the fact that this interview could enhance his reputation and potentially become a **Legendary Event**, he wouldn't have bothered with such a detailed account.
Rita Skeeter, listening beside him, was completely taken aback. Her gaze was filled with a strange mix of emotions; she had never encountered someone so shamelessly self-promoting!
No, upon further reflection, Rita Skeeter did recall a similar scenario—her interview with **Lockhart**, who had also been full of self-praise.
"Although this **Hogwarts Champion** is unwilling to share more information, the snippets we have are enough to showcase his excellent character. He is simply a very modest person. That's about it!" Ivan smacked his lips, thinking for a moment to ensure he hadn't missed anything, before turning to look at Rita Skeeter.
Noticing that she was still frozen in place, not having written a single word on her **Parchment**, Ivan frowned and said, somewhat discontentedly, "Haven't you written it down yet?"
Rita Skeeter snapped out of her daze and reluctantly scribbled on the **Parchment**.
Ivan watched her closely until she finished writing. It had to be said, the notorious gossip reporter was quite skilled; she accurately recorded every word he had said without a single mistake.
After finishing the last word with a sense of discomfort, Rita Skeeter quickly put away her paper and was about to leave. She couldn't wait to get out of there!
"Wait a moment, Ms. Skeeter!" Ivan stopped her.
"What else do you want?" Rita Skeeter said indignantly, regretting ever coming to Hogwarts to interview this **Champion**.
"I hope you will be fair and objective when you interview Harry, understood?" Ivan warned her.
He remembered how, in the original timeline, Rita Skeeter had fabricated a story about Harry, even inventing a love triangle involving **Hermione** and **Krum** to attract attention. This made Ivan very uncomfortable, so he warned Rita Skeeter not to mention his friends in her articles.
"Otherwise, I think your readers might be more interested in hearing your story!" Ivan threatened.
...
After a "friendly" conversation, Ivan and Rita Skeeter emerged from the booth.
"Looks like you two had a good chat?" Ludo Bagman, who had been waiting in the classroom, approached them, completely oblivious to the tension.
He was well aware of Rita Skeeter's reputation as a relentless gossip reporter, a woman everyone in the **Wizarding World** tried to avoid. Seeing her now, with a barely suppressed rage, he couldn't help but feel curious.
Rita Skeeter smiled somewhat reluctantly, but Ivan, standing beside her, enthusiastically mentioned that he had enjoyed a delightful conversation with Ms. Skeeter.
Ludo Bagman didn't believe a word of it, but he understood that he probably wouldn't get anything more out of them. So, he decided to get straight to business. "Hals, since the interview is over, let's head over there! Mr. Ollivander is checking the wands of the Champions, and you're the last one!"
Ivan nodded, turning to look at the podium where several tables had been set up. Dumbledore, Karkaroff, Maxime, and Crouch were seated behind them.
In addition to them, an elderly wizard stood in the room, one Ivan didn't recognize. The old wizard was holding Harry's wand, speaking about it and waving it slightly. Instantly, a deep red liquid spurted from the wand's tip, filling a few cups in front of him.
"It's in excellent condition, Mr. Potter!" the old wizard declared after a brief test, then returned the wand to Harry.
Harry put his wand away and then turned to Ivan, calling out, "Ivan, it's your turn!"
Ivan stepped forward and, mimicking Harry, handed his wand over to the old wizard.
The old wizard took the wand, his pale eyes fixed on Ivan, his gaze filled with admiration and nostalgia.
"It's been so long, Mr. Hals! The last time I saw you, you were just this tall..." The old wizard gestured with his hand, then added with a sigh, "But even then, I knew your future would be extraordinary. I personally handed you this wand!"
"Thank you, Mr. Ollivander!" Ivan replied humbly, having recognized the old wizard.
However, Ivan didn't take Ollivander's words to heart. He searched his memory and recalled that when "Ivan Hals" had gone to the wand shop to select a wand, the wand master had been quite perfunctory, treating him no differently from the other young wizards.
Moreover, most British wizards had wands made by Ollivander, and they were all personally handed over by him!
Ollivander, however, was very pleased with Ivan. The happiest moments of his life were when he witnessed exceptionally talented wizards using his wands to shine in the wizarding world. This not only served as excellent publicity but also made Ollivander feel personally involved.
While thinking this, Ollivander didn't forget his task. He quickly raised the wand to his eye level and inspected it carefully.
"Yew, unicorn hair, eleven and three-quarters inches..."
Ollivander, as usual, analyzed the wand's composition, confirming it was the one he had given Ivan. However, he also noticed the runic inscriptions etched into the wand.
"Hmm, you've made some modifications to it, haven't you?" Ollivander raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, Mr. Ollivander!" Ivan replied cautiously, aware that his private modifications might displease the wand maker.
In fact, Ivan had initially been reluctant to hand over his wand, but the wand check was mandatory for every Champion, and he hadn't brought his backup wand.
