Chapter 606: Can't You See? She Likes You!
Chapter 606: Can't You See? She Likes You!
Harry watched enviously as Ivan was surrounded by a group of girls.
Krum and Fleur, the other Champions, were receiving similar treatment, being adored by students from all the houses at Hogwarts.
Only Harry himself wasn’t getting much attention. Apart from the Gryffindor students, the rest of the school didn’t really acknowledge his status as a Champion, and he was tired of the subtle jibes and snide remarks.
Just as Harry was feeling self-deprecating, he saw a familiar girl approaching him.
“Ginny? Are you here to get Ivan’s autograph?” Harry asked curiously, but then he realized it didn’t make sense. If that were the case, Ginny should be with the group around Ivan.
Ginny didn’t answer. Her body trembled slightly, and it seemed to take a lot of courage for her to hand over her bag.
Harry was completely stunned. He pointed at the bag and then at himself, his words coming out in a stammer. “You want me to sign this? Here?”
Ginny stared at Harry and nodded, finally managing to utter a soft “yes.”
Harry’s heart was a mix of nervousness and excitement. He frantically searched his wizard robes for a quill to fulfill Ginny’s request, but his pockets only contained some Galleons and candy.
“Sorry, I don’t seem to have a quill. It’s Professor Moody’s class, and we usually don’t bring books or quills,” Harry explained awkwardly.
Ginny was taken aback. She hadn’t brought a quill either, and the idea of asking Harry for an autograph was a spur-of-the-moment decision. She had seen girls asking Ivan for autographs and saw Harry standing alone, which had spurred her to approach him.
The two teenagers stood there awkwardly, staring at each other.
“Here! Harry, take this,” Ivan, who had just managed to shake off a few clingy girls, noticed Harry’s predicament and handed him a quill.
Harry gratefully thanked Ivan, feeling a weight lifted as he took the quill and wrote his name on Ginny’s bag.
Compared to Ivan’s practiced handwriting, Harry’s signature wasn’t as neat, and it even looked a bit messy due to his nervousness.
But Ginny didn’t mind at all. She clutched the bag with Harry’s signature like a treasure and hurriedly ran off before Harry could say anything.
Harry didn’t have time to stop her. He had hoped to ask Ginny to help persuade Ron.
“How does it feel?” Ivan suddenly asked.
“Feel what?” Harry looked at Ivan, confused.
“Ginny, of course! Can’t you see? She likes you!” Ivan rolled his eyes, thinking Harry was clueless. No wonder he had become a Champion but was still alone at the Dance.
It was why, during the second task of the Triwizard Tournament, the organizers had placed Ron, his most precious possession, in the lake—despite the significant argument they had had recently.
“No, no way,” Harry stammered, completely taken aback. Ginny was Ron’s sister, and he had never considered such a possibility.
Moreover, he already had a crush on Cho Chang, a girl from Ravenclaw. So even if Ginny did like him, he couldn’t reciprocate her feelings.
Ivan could see what Harry was thinking and shook his head.
Cho Chang had always liked Cedric, and now that Cedric wasn’t participating in the Triwizard Tournament and was likely still alive, Harry, as a third party, had no chance.
But Harry didn’t see it that way. He was still infatuated with his dream girl, Cho Chang, and dismissed Ginny’s kindness.
In the afternoon, during Potions class, Snape resumed his usual habit of sarcastic remarks. He praised Harry in front of the class for cheating his way past Dumbledore’s Age Line, something that far exceeded his expectations and was truly remarkable!
"It seems our Savior of the Wizarding World is set to add another accolade this year—being the first Champion to enter the tournament through cheating. How do you like that title, Potter?" Snape sneered.
Malfoy and his cronies turned to look at Harry, snickering.
Harry was so angry that his whole body trembled. He was convinced that the person who had put his name in the Goblet of Fire was none other than Snape, the only one who would want to see him humiliated!
Snape relished Harry’s furious expression, feeling his mood lighten considerably. The constant bad news and the burning Dark Mark on his arm had been weighing heavily on him, but moments like these were the only times he could relieve his stress and find some amusement.
With that thought, Snape cleared his throat, ready to say more, when the classroom door was suddenly pushed open.
Snape frowned in annoyance, wanting to see who was interrupting his fun. Turning around, he saw third-year Colin Creevey entering.
"I hope you realize it’s class time, Mr. Creevey! You’d better have a good reason!" Snape glared at Colin coldly.
"Professors, Mr. Bagman wants all the Champions to go upstairs!" Colin swallowed hard under Snape’s cold gaze but managed to speak up despite the pressure.
"We still have an hour before the class ends. They can go after class!" Snape’s frown deepened. He was just getting into the swing of things and had no intention of letting Harry off the hook so easily.
"But Mr. Bagman said to come now. The other Champions are already there," Colin insisted, not backing down.
Snape glared fiercely at Colin for a moment before finally muttering, "Very well!"
"Shall I escort you out, Potter?" Snape turned his icy gaze to Harry, then glanced at Ivan. "Ah, and our true Champion, Mr. Hals… I suspect Mr. Bagman is only calling you, though…"
Snape’s attempt to sow discord fell flat. Harry ignored his words and quickly gathered his things, grateful to leave the classroom. He looked at Colin as if he were a savior.
Staying in the classroom any longer, Harry could hardly imagine what other venomous remarks Snape would come up with.
Ivan also glanced at Colin, patted his shoulder, and admired his courage. Not everyone had the nerve to stand up to Snape.
"If you want to thank me, just take a photo with me later! I knew you would become Champions, who else could it be?" Colin said excitedly, the epitome of a devoted fan.
This time, neither Ivan nor Harry refused Colin. They gladly posed for a picture, fulfilling his small wish.
Colin was over the moon, saying that if he showed the photo to his parents, they would be astounded!
