Chapter 605: Your Love Is Truly Vast!
Chapter 605: Your Love Is Truly Vast!
To practice Legilimency, Ivan had read many books and gained a deep understanding of this magic. This wasn't the first time he had used it either.
He was confident that Legilimency wouldn't cause any mental damage to the subject, which was why he dared to practice on Hermione.
However, seeing the young witches looking so exhausted, Ivan couldn't help but feel a bit worried.
"I'm fine, just a bit tired all of a sudden," Hermione shook her head, her gaze avoiding Ivan's, as if she were trying to dodge Winky.
She understood that the key to Legilimency was eye contact, so she didn't dare to meet Ivan's gaze, fearing that he might read her thoughts.
Hermione tried her best to calm her mind, but for some reason, memories kept surfacing in her head...
She remembered the first-year Troll Incident, when Ivan had publicly dragged her to the library, making her feel embarrassed.
The Chamber of Secrets Incident, when she felt worried and lost upon learning that Ivan had pursued the culprit alone.
And the first day of third year, when she saw Luna and Ivan talking and embracing on the Thestral-drawn carriage, a wave of jealousy washing over her.
Hermione shook her head, trying to forget these things and avoid Ivan seeing them, but the more she tried, the clearer the memories became, as if someone was forcing her to reveal her deepest secrets.
"Enough! Stop it, don't use Legilimency on me anymore!"
Finally, Hermione couldn't take it anymore and burst out, screaming hysterically. She pounded her fists on Ivan's chest and arms, releasing the emotions she had been holding back.
Ivan, caught off guard, took several hits before quickly grabbing Hermione's wrists, barely managing to control her. He then explained.
"Wait, Hermione, calm down. I wasn't doing anything! I wouldn't use Legilimency on you without your permission!"
At this point, Ivan realized what had happened. Hermione must have been triggered by the magic he had previously released, causing her to recall some private memories and mistakenly think he was still using Legilimency to read her thoughts.
"Really, really not?" Hermione was skeptical, her brown eyes staring at Ivan, unsure if he was deceiving her.
Otherwise, why would she suddenly remember so many things related to Ivan?
The thought that her thoughts might have been seen by Ivan made her face burn like it was on fire.
Compared to that, she would rather jump off the roof.
Seeing that Ivan's expression remained calm and hadn't changed much from the beginning, Hermione finally believed him, letting out a sigh of relief.
"Maybe we should take a break for a day and try again tomorrow!" Ivan suggested, noticing that Hermione's emotions were still unstable.
"Um, yeah, I'll go back now!" Hermione stammered, trying to avoid Ivan's gaze. She almost ran away, quickly turning and opening the door to the Tower Terrace.
Ivan watched Hermione's hurried departure, feeling curious about what memories she was so afraid of him knowing.
Could it be something like her bathing in the shower? But that wouldn't usually be a significant memory for most people, right?
When he had previously reviewed Notte's memories, he hadn't seen any scenes of eating, sleeping, or bathing—ordinary daily activities that most people wouldn't deliberately remember.
This was why Ivan didn't hesitate to practice Legilimency with Hermione, as the chances of seeing any awkward scenes were minimal.
However, Ivan didn't pay much attention to Hermione's unusual behavior, thinking it might just be because she was a young witch experiencing her first memory probe, and that she would get used to it in time.
But Ivan soon realized he had underestimated the impact of their practice session.
In the following days, Hermione deliberately avoided him, and their plans to practice Legilimency were completely derailed.
Their relationship seemed to have reverted to the way it was when they first had their disagreements. Hermione only dared to meet him when Harry was also present.
Every time Ivan tried to ask her what was wrong, the young witch would either stammer and change the subject or pretend not to hear.
If there was any change, it was that Hermione started frequenting the Library even more often, often disappearing right after class.
Ivan was at a loss, but he couldn't force Hermione to practice magic with him.
This caused his progress in Legilimency to stall once again...
"Did you and Hermione have another argument? Why is she always avoiding you?" After a Defense Against the Dark Arts class, Harry couldn't help but ask.
"How should I know? We were fine just a few days ago!" Ivan shrugged.
"Maybe there's some misunderstanding. You should talk to her and clear things up," Harry suggested, not wanting to see his friends bickering again.
"I'd like to, but Hermione has to be willing to listen," Ivan said, sounding quite helpless.
Harry immediately thought of Ron and sighed. For a moment, the two of them felt a sense of shared frustration.
On their way to the Great Hall for dinner, Ivan and Harry were suddenly stopped by a fifteen or sixteen-year-old Gryffindor girl. She was holding a shoulder bag and looked very nervous.
"Hals! Could you please sign this for me?" She handed over the bag, nervously asking, fearing that Ivan might refuse.
"Of course, no problem!" Ivan smiled, took the bag, and pulled out his Quill, signing his name in a prominent spot.
Perhaps feeling that Ivan was as approachable as the rumors suggested, the Gryffindor girl grew bolder and asked Ivan to write a few words of encouragement or a blessing.
Ivan happily agreed and wrote, "Study hard, make progress every day!"
The Gryffindor girl pouted, looking quite disappointed. She had hoped for something different!
Seeing her success, a dozen or so other girls who had been watching from a distance quickly gathered around, offering their own personal items for Ivan to sign.
Ivan didn't turn anyone away. Since becoming a Champion, he had been asked for autographs multiple times.
Considering the needs of his mission, he did his best to accommodate each of them, signing until his hand ached.
But Ivan was puzzled by the lack of significant progress in his task. Only a few more Fanatic Followers had been added.
It wasn't until he signed for a Ravenclaw girl that he noticed something. The backpack she asked him to sign already had Krum's signature on it.
Seeing this, Ivan's lips twitched.
Their love was truly broad!
