Chapter 605: Waiting for the Rabbit (Third Update)
Chapter 605: Waiting for the Rabbit (Third Update)
Stephanie had dispatched Hydra agents to infiltrate the current S.H.I.E.L.D. base, so naturally, she knew about Skye's Inhuman team, including the Inhuman named Gordon, who could teleport instantly.
If she wasn't foolish, Stephanie should have guessed that once the Inhuman incident erupted, Coulson would order the Inhuman team to bring the transformed Inhumans back to headquarters first. This was the most common method S.H.I.E.L.D. used to handle such situations.
At that point, S.H.I.E.L.D. would have over a thousand Inhumans, either in the process of transforming or already transformed.
If Hive entered the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, he could instantly take control of these over a thousand Inhumans, as well as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s powerful Inhuman team.
Even if only a small portion of these Inhumans had destructive abilities, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents at headquarters would be no match for them.
If Coulson hadn't learned about Hive's intelligence from Jerry, he might have fallen for the trap.
This clearly demonstrated that, regardless of the era, intelligence played an undeniable role in warfare.
"Skye, right now—"
Upon realizing Stephanie's sinister plan, Coulson immediately wanted to halt Skye's mission. However, Jerry raised his hand to stop him.
"No need. Let them continue. We'll wait here, like a rabbit in the bush, for Miss Stephanie and Hive to come to us."
Hive could control all Inhumans through parasitic means, and Belle and Charlie were certainly within his control. Therefore, Jerry had no intention of letting him live.
Moreover, Hive was a valuable experimental subject, one of the highest achievements of Kree biotechnology.
As for his strength, Hive was far from weak. His entire body was composed of special parasites, allowing him to achieve immortality by continuously parasitizing humans and gaining all of their knowledge and memories.
He could release parasites to consume targets, heal himself, and even regenerate broken bones.
His physical abilities were extraordinary, capable of defeating Kree elite warriors in hand-to-hand combat.
He had once led the Inhumans to defeat and drive the Kree, who created them, out of Earth. His body was nearly impossible to kill by conventional means.
Even among the current Avengers, only a few could defeat Hive in a one-on-one fight.
Of course, to Jerry, Hive was merely a slightly stronger ant.
Coulson also realized this. Yes, Jerry was here. With Jerry, he didn't need to worry about Hive. Even if Hive controlled all the Inhumans, he wouldn't be a match for Jerry.
Stephanie probably never imagined that her plan to activate Inhumans would inadvertently activate the family of a terrifying Witch.
"Director, what did you say?"
At that moment, Skye's puzzled voice came from the phone on the table.
Coulson replied in a relaxed tone:
"Nothing, continue with the mission as planned. Oh, and there are two transformed Inhumans in Queens you don't need to bring back. I'll have Fitz give you the coordinates."
"You get to work. I'll show Hermione around S.H.I.E.L.D. If Stephanie and Hive show up, just let me know."
Seeing Coulson hang up the phone, Jerry waved at him and led Hermione out of the office.
S.H.I.E.L.D. was one of the few places on Earth, besides Tony's, where one could see the most advanced technology and weaponry. Since they were here, it was a good opportunity to show Hermione around.
"Jerry, I never thought muggle technology in the future could be so advanced, to the point where muggles without a sorcerer bloodline could possess abilities similar to magic."
Just as Hermione left the office, she whispered to Jerry.
In her view, the so-called Inhumans were like muggles who had undergone biological experiments and gained magical abilities.
For example, Gordon’s ability to teleport was so similar to Phantom Shift, and the key was that he didn’t need to learn spells; he was born with it.
After all, Phantom Shift, a high-level magic, wasn’t something every witch could master easily.
“Well, I think they might find the abilities of witches more terrifying,” Jerry replied with a smile, nodding.
A qualified witch would know at least a hundred different spells, which was equivalent to having a hundred different superpowers.
Which Inhuman could master a hundred different powers?
“Looks like the relationship isn’t just casual!”
Coulson watched as Jerry and Hermione walked together, their intimate demeanor causing a thoughtful expression to cross his face.
He then pressed a button on his phone:
“Jemma, put down your work. Witch Jerry and his girlfriend are coming to the base. You go and guide them.”
Meanwhile, in a villa in Queens, New York.
After hours of anxious waiting, the stone-like surfaces of Belle and Charlie finally peeled off, and they returned to their normal appearances.
Aisha and Has were extremely anxious when Belle and Charlie turned to stone.
Aisha found that none of her magic could help in this situation, and when she asked Qinglong, Qinglong also had no idea.
So, they made an excuse to sneak upstairs and used a special Avengers device in Aisha’s room to contact Tony.
“Mr. Stark, we have a situation at my house,” Aisha said.
“I know, Aisha. Don’t worry, I’ll send someone to investigate. Wait for my call,” Tony replied, initially taken aback but then reassuring her.
Just as Tony hung up with Aisha, he received a call from Has.
Has, seeing Belle and Charlie turn to stone, had first thought of calling the police.
But then he remembered he was the police chief, and this situation was clearly beyond the scope of the police.
So, he also made an excuse to leave and secretly contacted the Avengers, specifically Iron Man, Tony Stark.
Tony answered Has’s call with the same reassurances, but he was still puzzled.
Under normal circumstances, he would immediately contact other Avengers to check on Belle and Charlie’s condition at Aisha’s house.
However, he knew Jerry was at home, so he was certain Jerry was aware of the situation.
“Knock! Knock! Knock!”
Sure enough, just as Has hung up, there was a knock on the door of Tony’s office. When he opened it, he saw Jerry.
Jerry had learned about the situation from Coulson and had sent a duplicate of himself to inform Tony.
The duplicate at home had already noticed Aisha and Has’s actions, and to ensure they could wait with peace of mind, Jerry needed to inform Tony.
“Jerry, I’m glad you didn’t just appear in my office this time, but what’s going on at your place?”
Tony asked, his hair slightly disheveled when he saw Jerry.
