Chapter 605: Steel Sparrow's Nest
Chapter 605: Steel Sparrow's Nest
"Xunxun!"
Treasure Seeker called out.
But before its eyes could glow with Blue Light, a dark aura suddenly descended. A black Blade materialized and plunged into Treasure Seeker's Shadow Control, which it hadn't yet retracted.
The Blade pierced through the shadow and buried itself in the ground.
"Xunxun?!"
Treasure Seeker's expression was one of disbelief as it found itself unable to move!
The thick fog had not been completely dispersed by the Flame Rain; a thin layer still swirled around.
Qiao Sang clearly saw a black shadow pierce into Treasure Seeker's shadow, flickering in and out of sight.
Shadow Blade... with just one glance, Qiao Sang recognized the skill used by Mist Shadow Yake, and her heart raced with alarm.
A Dark-type Advanced Skill, it could both attack and immobilize the target by piercing their shadow. It could even prevent a Beastmaster from recalling their familiar into the Beastmaster Codex.
It was somewhat similar to Shadow Control.
The difference was that Shadow Control focused on binding. In 2D Mode, once the target was bound, the user couldn't move freely either. Shadow Blade, however, did not have this limitation.
"Pull your shadow back!" Qiao Sang urged.
Treasure Seeker's shadow was extended due to Shadow Control. If it retracted the energy, the binding would naturally be broken!
Treasure Seeker had already been preparing to withdraw Shadow Control and use Spatial Shift, but the sudden immobilization had startled it, causing it to forget its next move.
Hearing its Beastmaster's command, Treasure Seeker calmed down and began to dissipate the energy maintaining Shadow Control.
"Mist Shadow!"
At that moment, Mist Shadow Yake, despite being injured by the Flame Rain, roared with fury.
Dozens of Shadow Blades suddenly appeared in the thin fog and fell rapidly.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
Some of the Shadow Blades collided with the falling Flame Rain, producing explosive booms.
The rest of the Shadow Blades sped toward Qiao Sang and Fangy, including Treasure Seeker, which was still pinned down and in the process of canceling Shadow Control.
In the fog and Flame Rain, the dozens of Shadow Blades were not particularly noticeable, making them hard to see clearly.
"Move to Treasure Seeker!" Qiao Sang's eyes grew sharp, and she issued the command without hesitation.
To retreat safely, Treasure Seeker must not fall!
Fangy's eyes also grew sharp like its Beastmaster's. It focused on the intense Flame Rain and the inconspicuous Shadow Blades mixed within, then dashed forward.
The white and red figure weaved through the scorching red flames and black Blades, as if the falling flames had a mind of their own and avoided it.
Fangy's speed was terrifying, and despite the blur of its movement, it didn't forget to use Flame Jet to counter the Shadow Blades above Treasure Seeker.
Amidst the explosions, it reached a position about ten centimeters above Treasure Seeker.
Its massive form completely covered Treasure Seeker, providing a sense of security.
Qiao Sang sat on Fangy's back.
More Shadow Blades were approaching, and they were only about five centimeters away.
Qiao Sang leaned forward, trying to get as close to Fangy as possible.
The timing should be right... Qiao Sang's heart pounded fiercely, and she shouted:
"Treasure Seeker, are you ready!"
Four centimeters.
Three centimeters.
Two centimeters...
"Xunxun!"
Just as three Shadow Blades were about to pierce Qiao Sang's back, less than one centimeter away, Treasure Seeker called out loudly, indicating it was ready!
In the next second, Qiao Sang and Fangy vanished from their spot.
"Mist Shadow!"
The fog dissipated, and the Flame Rain ceased. Mist Shadow Yake, dragging its injured body, stood angrily before the fallen and unconscious Mist Shadow Yake.
“Mist Shadow!”
Mist Shadow Yake mercilessly kicked the Mist Shadow Yake that had its eyes closed.
“Mist Shadow...”
The Mist Shadow Yake with its eyes closed flipped and turned its head slightly, appearing to be unconscious.
It had fainted long ago under the influence of Mars Rain.
...
Damn, that was close... Qiao Sang panted heavily, feeling sweat drench her back.
What just happened was incredibly intense.
Honestly, she felt like she had never experienced anything as intense as this, not even when she encountered the wild beast companion Dreamless Tot and the Three-Eyed Ghost Cicada in the Chamber.
Back then, she had only been a Beastmaster for a short time, and her environment had always been very safe. Her understanding of the strength of familiars mostly came from books and TV, giving her a somewhat fearless attitude.
But as she spent more time as a Beastmaster and encountered various wild beast companions, including General-Class ones, she came to understand the true danger of wild General-Class Beast Companions.
Two General-Class Beast Companions were absolutely too much for her to handle head-on.
Knowing this, she realized that a single misstep could cost her life.
Fortunately, she had been through Spatial Shifts too many times and knew that it happened in an instant. As long as Treasure Seeker released its Shadow Control, she could use it.
Having Fangy position itself above Treasure Seeker served two purposes: to block Skills and to enable a quicker escape.
As long as they managed to escape, even if they were injured by the Shadow Blade, she could summon Lulu for immediate healing.
Otherwise, in such an environment, she wouldn't be able to cast Healing Light with peace of mind.
Thinking back, how did it feel like there was only one Mist Shadow Yake just now? Qiao Sang felt a lingering sense of fear.
“Ganggang...”
At that moment, Steel Treasure flapped its wings and called out worriedly.
Qiao Sang gathered her thoughts and turned to say, “I'm fine.”
After speaking, she fully regained her senses and remembered something. She quickly checked on Fangy, Treasure Seeker, and Steel Treasure.
“Are you all okay?” Qiao Sang asked.
“Ya Ya.”
Fangy shook its head honestly.
It was fine.
“Xunxun...”
Treasure Seeker sat on Fangy's back, looking exhausted, and called out.
It wasn't fine; it had almost been scared to death...
Steel Treasure didn't respond.
Qiao Sang looked at Steel Treasure and couldn't help but ask again, “Are you okay?”
She remembered how Steel Treasure had acted completely out of character just now.
“Ganggang...”
Steel Treasure awkwardly put on the hat it had been holding and called out softly, indicating it was also fine.
That's a relief... Qiao Sang sighed in relief and then remembered to observe her surroundings.
She glanced around, and towering trees came into view.
The humid, warm air and the ground covered with dead branches and decaying leaves all indicated that she was likely still in the familiar's habitat.
Qiao Sang quickly accepted this reality and, relying on her experience, began forming hand seals with lightning speed.
This place was too dangerous; she needed Lulu by her side for a sense of security.
Soon, Lulu appeared from the Amber Star Array.
Unbeknownst to her, pairs of red eyes were closely watching her.
Most of the red eyes focused on Steel Treasure, then on the ID Bracelet in its claws.
Many of the red eyes turned to anger.
Suddenly, Fangy's ears twitched, and its eyes became sharp.
It opened its mouth and shot a burst of searing flames at a tree above.
Just as the flames were about to reach the tree, the leaves rustled, and a purple familiar flew out.
Then, a second, a third, a fourth, and a fifth...
Soon, purple figures were flying out from the surrounding trees.
Before long, countless purple figures were circling in the sky.
The sky was almost entirely obscured, turning purple.
Damn... Qiao Sang looked up, her heart sinking.
Great, just when she thought she had escaped the Mist Shadow Yake's nest, she had ended up in a Steel Sparrow's nest...
Wait, Steel Sparrow? Qiao Sang suddenly remembered something and turned to look at Steel Treasure.
