After a bit of a struggle, Ruo Yu finally severed the safety belt. Just as she prepared to push open the car hatch and jump out, a tunnel appeared on the road ahead.
Inside the tunnel, a "Batman Vehicle" that had been lying in ambush for some time was speeding toward them from the opposite direction.
Of course, calling it a "Batman Vehicle" was generous. In reality, it was just a black civilian car with amateurish modifications. Aside from the pointless bat-wing decorations on the roof and sides, it was nothing more than an ordinary vehicle.
"Damn it! Henry, keep the steering wheel steady!" Inside the car, a plump woman dressed as Batgirl shouted at her husband.
Henry was a mustachioed man in his fifties wearing a homemade Batman suit that looked surprisingly authentic. "Tch… If your brother had done a better job modifying this junk—"
"Shut up!" the fat woman snapped. "We’ll win! My astrologer told me so!"
They were another pair of fools trying to challenge The Bruce. Every year, countless rabble-rousers like them emerged, and even if they somehow managed to kill one of the "Villains", their final challenge always ended in failure. But such people never disappeared—Gotham’s poverty and tyranny kept driving new ones to desperation.
"Quick! This tunnel can only fit one car at a time! Intercept her—she’ll brake!" the fat woman yelled from inside the vehicle.
Henry was practically driven mad by her. "You want to drive? Then you drive!"
"I can’t shoot and drive at the same time, you idiot!"
"Don’t call me that!"
"Hey! Wait—what’s happening?!"
"She didn’t slow down… Oh my God!"
It wasn’t that Ruo Yu didn’t want to brake—it was that her car simply lacked that function.
Crash—screech—clang, clang!
After a series of collisions, scrapes, and flips, both vehicles crashed sideways into the roadside, their bodies shattered.
"Phew…" Ruo Yu crawled out of her car and checked the game menu. "Losing only 20% vitality value from this… Not bad." She walked a few steps away from the burning wreckage. "I wonder how Bu Jue is doing… Am I already stronger than ordinary people in the real world?"
"Demon! Beast!" The fat woman’s furious screams came from behind Ruo Yu. "My Henry’s dead!"
Ruo Yu turned around to see the Batgirl-costumed woman struggling out of her car.
The woman’s overly plump figure and mismatched outfit looked almost comical. But the ferocious expression behind her Batman mask—and the submachine gun in her hand—made the scene anything but amusing.
"I’ll kill you, you bitch!" The woman opened fire with poor marksmanship at the "Harley Quinn" before her.
Ruo Yu had no intention of engaging or explaining. She silently pulled a handgun from her satchel and casually fired a shot at the woman’s arm.
At the moment the scenario officially began, Li Ruoyu had also heard two system prompts: [Your appearance has been adjusted to match Harley Quinn's design from the Npcs' perspective] and [A new item has been added to your satchel].
Like Feng Bu Jue, Ruo Yu’s item was a handgun. Her weapon resembled a revolver, but its barrel was as thick as a detonator, with a muzzle wider than a shotgun’s.
"Ow! Ah—!" The fat woman screamed in pain after being shot, collapsing to the ground. Her weapon clattered away, beyond her reach.
For the Npcs in this scenario, injuries felt painfully "realistic"—car crashes killed, arm wounds disabled. No wonder they could never defeat The Bruce. Even at his weakest, the current Batman was no match for ordinary civilians.
"Sorry", Ruo Yu said coldly before turning away.
Her actions were recorded by cameras in the tunnel and broadcast live on Gotham’s giant screens.
From the Npcs’ perspective, they saw a twin-tailed, leather-clad madwoman in a low-cut, midriff-baring outfit with thick black eye makeup. She had crashed into two challengers’ car, ruthlessly killing one and crippling the other.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city.
"Hmm… Judging by her gait… That’s Ruo Yu", Feng Bu Jue muttered, standing in front of a giant screen on the street. "I thought watching through surveillance devices would let me see her Joker outfit, but she’s completely transformed into someone else…" His expression was slightly disappointed.
Clearly, in this scenario, players were merely embodying existing characters in this universe. When viewing themselves through mirrors or surveillance devices, they saw only the characters they "possessed."
"Tch… She’s a foreigner, yet her figure doesn’t even match Ruo Yu’s original…" Feng Bu Jue grumbled with a gentleman’s (pervert’s) critical gaze, clearly dissatisfied.
Someone might wonder—was it safe for him to wander the streets so openly?
Actually, yes. Just minutes earlier, Feng Bu Jue had ambushed a lone civilian and stolen a tattered robe to wear.
His tracking chip had already failed, and as long as he disguised himself briefly in a camera-blind spot, he could walk freely.
"Anyway… Ruo Yu doesn’t need my help", Feng Bu Jue thought, shifting his gaze to the split-screen showing two other figures. "‘Poison Ivy’ immediately fled into the sewers on her first attempt, evading surveillance… Clever move. That must be Xiao Ling. Once she returns to the surface, she’ll probably deduce the tracking chip’s existence. Combined with my earlier electric shock demonstration, she’ll figure out countermeasures soon enough." His gaze lingered on the figure of Two-Face. "Sigh… So you really are Two-Face, huh? In a way, that’s fitting."
Watching Xiao Tan’s ragged escape on the screen, Feng Bu Jue gave a helpless smile. "No choice then…"
He exhaled deeply, then pushed off the ground.
His figure sliced through the night sky like an arrow, instantly landing on the roof of a nearby building.
"Though this is a parallel universe largely unrelated to the DC Main Universe, the basic urban strategic layout is probably unchanged", Feng Bu Jue mused, gazing into the distance from his high vantage point.
Seconds later, using the Gotham map he’d memorized during his last visit and cross-referencing the buildings and streets from the giant screen, he quickly locked onto Xiao Tan’s location.
