"It's him!" Gao Shun's eyes flashed with recognition.
This guy had a keen eye. Despite being over a hundred meters away from Lu Hai Kong, and even standing on a canyon several dozen meters high, Gao Shun still identified Lu Hai Kong.
Gao Shun clearly remembered that when he had seen Lu Hai Kong half a month ago, Lu Hai Kong's strength was possibly even a little inferior to his own soldiers. He never expected that in just half a month, Lu Hai Kong's abilities had grown to such an extent that he was no weaker than a typical company commander or platoon leader in the army.
"What a terrifying growth rate!" Even Gao Shun couldn't help but be amazed.
Immediately, Gao Shun spurred his horse forward and reached the outside of the canyon. When he saw the canyon filled with severed limbs, he instantly understood the identity of the other party in the battle—it was none other than the 'Black Wind Fort', a notorious group active in the Yanmen area. Gao Shun had been dispatched to guard against these bandits, but he never imagined that before he could even meet their leader, Lu Hai Kong had already led his men to defeat them.
"But why did this guy target the Black Wind Fort?"
As Gao Shun turned his horse and approached the other side of the canyon, seeing the ground littered with gold, he suddenly understood.
………………………………………………
Lu Hai Kong, with Li Xiong in a state of unconsciousness, easily arrived at the designated meeting point with Wang Chao and Ma Han. By the time he got there, Wang Chao and Ma Han were already waiting for him.
Lu Hai Kong was unaware that Gao Shun had already seen him once and had even vaguely located the position of his mountain fort. Cautious as he was, Lu Hai Kong led Wang Chao and Ma Han on a lengthy detour, trying to obscure his destination as much as possible, before heading back to the mountain fort with them.
On the mountain path below the fort, as they passed by 'Zhang Family Village', Lu Hai Kong hesitated. He asked Wang Chao and Ma Han to take Li Xiong back to the fort while he, with a small bag of meat buns as provisions, rode his horse to 'Zhang Family Village'.
At the village entrance, Lu Hai Kong spotted the village elder's little one playing with a group of rowdy children. They seemed to be engaged in a game of cops and robbers, clumsily hitting each other, their faces flushed with excitement.
Lu Hai Kong noticed that although the little one was the smallest among the children, he seemed to possess the greatest strength. He chased after several of them, his baby face flushed with excitement, his toothless grin beaming with pride.
As they played, the little kid suddenly spotted Lu Hai Kong, and his eyes lit up with a spark of intelligence.
The little one remembered Lu Hai Kong and the package in his hand, which was filled with fragrant meat buns. At the thought of the meat, the kid's mouth watered, and he stopped to say something to the children beside him before strutting over to Lu Hai Kong with his chest puffed out.
Lu Hai Kong couldn't help but feel a genuine fondness for the little guy standing before him with his hands on his hips and his head tilted back, looking like a miniature adult. It wasn't because of any peculiar preferences, but because the kid reminded him of his little cousin.
Seeing the child approach, Lu Hai Kong couldn't resist pinching the little one's chubby cheeks and greeting him, "Little one, long time no see!"
To his surprise, the little one kicked Lu Hai Kong's leg and then grabbed the package from his hand, intending to run off.
The little one's strength was indeed surprising. When he kicked, Lu HaiKong could feel the force, almost painful. His power was just a tad less than that of a typical bandit chief, but it was impressive for a little kid.
Unfortunately, the little one's strength was no match for Lu HaiKong. Despite the little one's efforts, he couldn't snatch the package from Lu HaiKong's grip.
The little one was determined not to give up. After all, he had taken things this way twice before; why couldn't he do it again?
The little one tried everything, even using his mouth, but he couldn't grab the package from Lu HaiKong. In his enthusiasm, he fell to the ground, sitting there in a daze for a moment.
Finally, the little one realized he wasn't getting that delicious meat bun. He had promised Da Zhuang and Niu Niu a treat, and now he couldn't keep his word. He decided that Niu Niu and the others wouldn't be his friends anymore, and the more he thought about it, the more he felt wronged, until he burst into tears.
Seeing this, Lu HaiKong laughed and held out the package to the little one. "Do you want this?"
The little one, seeing the package within reach, instinctively reached out to grab it. But Lu HaiKong retracted his hand and dodged.
"If you want it, just ask," Lu HaiKong said with a smile. "Why do you have to snatch it?"
The little one, with tears in his eyes, eagerly asked, "Are you really giving me these delicious buns?"
"Call me brother, and I'll give you a meat bun!" Lu HaiKong often teased his little cousin like this, and it usually worked.
In the sixth chapter, the first look was not wrong!
Of course, when it came to food, the little one had no resistance. He didn't understand concepts like dignity or pride. Seeing the food, he shouted with a high-pitched, childish voice, "Brother!"
After shouting for who knows how long, the little one finally stopped and stared at Lu HaiKong.
Lu HaiKong kept his word and gave the package to the little one. As soon as he got the meat bun, the little one stood up, kicked Lu HaiKong when he wasn't looking, and ran off with the package, his short legs carrying him quickly to the group of mischievous kids.
Lu HaiKong watched as the little one opened the package and proudly handed a bun to a little girl. He couldn't help but marvel at how kids seemed to mature early, no matter the era.
As the little one distributed the meat buns and made faces at Lu HaiKong, the latter turned to greet the village elder, who had arrived without him noticing. "It's been a while, Elder Zhang!"
The village elder sighed and responded, despite his reluctance to interact with people like Lu HaiKong. "Rest assured, I'll be leaving soon. We won't cause any trouble for your village." Lu HaiKong understood that elders like Elder Zhang often disliked associating with bandits and preferred to keep their distance. Lu HaiKong had only come to tease the little one on a whim.
As Lu HaiKong turned to leave, he paused and said to the village elder, "The county is preparing to suppress the mountain bandit camp. If possible, try to stay clear to avoid getting caught up in it."
With that, Lu HaiKong strode away. The little one, among the group of kids, watched Lu HaiKong leave with a hint of reluctance in his eyes, which quickly faded as he got distracted by the meat buns.
