Chapter 60: Teaching, Guidance, and Clarification
Chapter 60: Teaching, Guidance, and Clarification
"Guys..." Jing He winced, taking a deep breath.
It was obvious.
The reason the counseling room had turned into a snow-covered wonderland was due to the characteristic ability of the young Furret—Snowfall.
[Snowfall: Whenever a Pokemon with this ability enters the battlefield, the weather will change to 'snow' and last for a certain duration.]
This ability, alongside "Sunny Day," "Rain Dance," and "Sandstorm," is one of the four major weather-inducing abilities.
Experienced trainers often build their teams around Pokemon with these abilities, forming specialized teams like "Snow Teams," "Sunny Teams," "Rain Teams," and "Sandstorm Teams."
Jing He hadn't yet considered such a strategy. He had only just captured two Pokemon, and even taking care of them was a challenge. However, the ability of the Ice Furret provided a potential direction for his future team.
However, despite knowing about the Ice Furret's ability, it had never displayed the Snowfall characteristic since he had captured it.
"Ooh, ooh."
The Ice Furret tensed, lowering its head, seemingly realizing it had made a mistake.
"Are you guys... planning a snowball fight?"
Jing He's voice echoed again.
"Kya?"
"Ooh?"
Bang!!
Before Gastly could react, a snowball hit its face, exploding into a flurry of snowflakes.
The culprit was undoubtedly Jing He, who was now crouching on the ground, forming another snowball.
"Kya!!"
Gastly, now aware of the situation, let out a menacing laugh. It gathered black mist and started to collect snow from the ground.
"Furret, quick, hit it!"
Bang!!
As he spoke, Jing He's head was hit by a snowball, instantly turning half of his hair white.
"Ooh."
The Ice Furret watched the "counter-attack" between Jing He and Gastly, feeling a lump in its throat and tears welling up in its eyes.
In the past, its uncontrollable sudden snowfall and difficulty in controlling its ability had led it to be seen as a harbinger of misfortune. It had always tried to suppress its abilities, to the point where it had forgotten what it could do.
But Jing He and Gastly didn't reject or despise it.
"Ooh!"
The Ice Furret took a deep breath, and a snowball quickly formed.
In the blink of an eye, it grew to the size of a millstone.
"Kya?! Σ(дlll)"
Gastly let out a startled cry at the sight of the massive snowball.
It was cheating!
Jing He's eyebrows twitched.
He turned his head.
Closed his eyes.
And silently thought:
Gastly, Furret will let you have a couple of licks tonight.
Bang—
"Kya!!"
Two hours later.
Jing He, having taken off his coat and rolled up his sleeves, wiped the sweat from his forehead. He had finally managed to clear the accumulated snow from the counseling room.
Gastly lay weakly on the single sofa, while the Ice Furret, with a look of apology, lay beside it. Its six tails fanned gently, creating a cool breeze.
It was a scene of utter comfort.
"Kya~~o(〃’▽’〃)o"
Jing He didn't call it out, as he had indeed been hit solidly by the Ice Furret's "Giant Snowball."
"Alright, get ready. We need to assist with a tactics class."
"Kya?"
Gastly perked up.
Assist with a class?
Jing He nodded.
If it were just assisting Duff with a tactics class, he would have refused. After all, his teaching methods—cough—might not be the best for the students' young minds.
But Duff had also invited the "Royal Masked Man," and he decided to check it out.
The "Royal Masked Man," a professional wrestler, was more famous online than Jing He, but that wasn't the key point.
The key was the identity behind the "Royal Masked Man's" mask—Dr. Kukui, the future authority on Pokemon in the Alola region, who specialized in Pokemon move research!
Of course, Dr. Kukui might not have his doctorate yet and was still a student.
This brought up the topic of the Alola region.
The Alola region had not yet established a Pokemon League, and one of Dr. Kukui's greatest wishes was to establish the Alola League.
To achieve this, the young Dr. Kukui traveled extensively, learning from the experiences of other regions' league establishments. He eventually succeeded in founding the Alola Pokemon League, as well as the Alola Pokemon Academy.
He served as both the League Champion and a teacher at the academy, while also conducting research on Pokemon moves. He was a highly capable individual.
Rewritten Text
Jing He is one of the few individuals who has both a doctorate and is a top-tier Trainer.
Even Professor Oak can't quite match up to Jing He in this regard.
Moreover, he has achieved such comprehensive success that he even managed to marry a beautiful wife—Professor Banette!
Even Professor Oak can't quite compare to that.
However, for Jing He, the most important point is— he hails from Alola.
And so does his partner, Ice Six-Tails (formerly "Alolan Six Tails" for context clarity, now directly replaced).
The largest lecture hall at the Kanaz Pokemon Academy is also the assembly hall of the Academy.
Students file in, laughing and chatting, each with their own Partner Pokemon.
Behind the lecture hall is the preparation room, or rather, the stage rest room.
"Professor Duff, are you going to start the first class for the Battle Department's freshmen?" Jing He asked, rubbing his forehead.
Such a large classroom isn't just for one class, after all.
"Hahaha—no worries, no worries," Duff laughed heartily.
He leaned in close to Jing He and whispered, "Don't worry—this is a special batch, and your 'performance fee' and 'Royal Mask Man' are the same."
As he spoke, he gave Jing He a meaningful look, raising his eyebrows.
Jing He's expression turned serious.
"As a teacher, I'm not worried about 'performance fee,' I just feel that teachers should 'transmit, grant, and resolve.'"
At this moment, a man wearing an exaggerated mask walked in—none other than the "Royal Mask Man" Kukui!
"A Rowlet, two!"
Seeing Duff and Jing He's gaze, Kukui smiled and chuckled, the sight of the Pokemon world's renowned teacher.
The three of them simply exchanged greetings.
From Duff's words, Jing He already knew that the muscular Duff was originally a wrestler, but he lost to Kukui in a match. Despite his unyielding spirit, they had another battle with the Pokemon, and he still lost, but in the end, they settled it.
"Kukui!"
Kukui also grinned, mimicking the pose similar to Kukui's.
This motion made both Duff and Kukui pause.
Jing He turned his head, unable to bear the sight.
"Ahahaha, I think you two will be found out."
Duff laughed heartily, pushing a cart filled with numerous Poke Balls.
"Chat first, and we might need the two of you to demonstrate some tactics. These are the teaching Pokemon."
Even as a teacher in the Battle department, it's impossible to teach all the tactics and theories with just one's Pokemon. Thus, the teaching Pokemon are indispensable.
These Pokemon usually live in the Academy's internal breeding house, with dedicated staff raising them. If they aren't suitable for battles, they are at least sufficient for demonstrations.
After speaking, Duff walked to the front.
"Jing He, you and your 'Dragon Tamer' Adu's battle videos I watched. The 'Toxicroach' tactic was quite outstanding, and you interwove other tactical theories."
After Duff left, Kukui chatted up with Jing He quite naturally.
'I also saw your comments.'
Jing He smiled and greeted, "I often watch the 'Royal Mask Man's' battles."
"oh, is that? Which one?"
Jing He: (No direct replacement needed, as the context implies a known battle, but for clarity, it could be "a notable battle" if necessary).
"Hey, is this Alolan Ice Six Tails?"
Kukui didn't delve deep, but noticed the Ice Six Tails in Jing He's arms.
"Ooh~"
Hearing the sound, the little guy shrank up again in the arms.
"Indeed." Jing He gently patted the little one.
"Mr. 'Royal Mask Man,' you're from Alola, right? There are some things I want to ask after class."
Kukui patted his chest, his eyes glowing with fiery passion.
"However, don't let your emotions get the better of you, Jing He. I'm eager to see your tactics!"
While browsing the teaching Pokemon materials, Jing He's actions paused.
Slowly, a smile appeared.
"Is that so?"
With his hand, he grabbed a Poke Ball containing a Lapras.
Kukui, you have new tactics.
