Chapter 60: Detection
Chapter 60: Detection
In the vast wilderness, Fang Xing had set up a temporary underground camp after his shopping spree in the black market. He carefully chose a spot amidst the ruins and opened the Gate to the Multiverse.
"With over ten million worth of goods, it's a bit too eye-catching..."
"Might as well just disappear for a few days before heading back..."
Fang Xing checked the surveillance feeds. Now that Qinglinfang Market had a Golden Core cultivator overseeing it, he dared not deploy too many drones or get too close, only keeping a distant watch.
"Hmm, aside from the Qingxu Sect sending more people to the Five Scorpion Valley secret realm, nothing much has happened..."
"Who would've thought that the secret realm Chen Yi discovered would eventually lead to his death at the Golden Core stage and attract so much attention... I'm even more interested in his storage bag now."
He sighed and moved to another area of the camp.
Here, he laid out his recent purchases from the black market—the 'Giant Wave RDT93', along with the Revealing Solution, the Dark Birth Box, and the LIQ714 Original Liquid.
These items were definitely not going back to his world.
Fang Xing opened the 'Giant Wave RDT93', a device resembling a black notebook, and placed the 'Blood Forged Magical Weapon'—the Ink Pattern Sword—that he had obtained from Chen Yi onto it.
Beep! Beep!
As the machine whirred to life, beams of light enveloped the sword.
Half an hour later, a report was transmitted to Fang Xing.
"Unnamed sword-shaped weapon, length: 110.2 cm, weight: 8,172 grams. Primary material is an unknown alloy with a 94.9% similarity to 'Ink Iron Alloy' and an 89.7% similarity to 'Titanium Black Gold'..."
"...Features unknown patterns and is determined to require special energy to activate. The craftsmanship bears an 88.55% similarity to the engraving techniques of the 'Blood Snail Clan'!"
"As expected, unknown metal and unknown techniques..."
Fang Xing nodded to himself. Similarities like these weren't too concerning; after all, human and pig DNA shared over 90% similarity! As long as it wasn't a 100% match or extremely close to that, there was likely no direct relation.
He continued reading the report and reached the final page, where he paused:
"Detected unknown structure... Requires a special spiritual wave key..."
At the bottom was a 3D scan of the Ink Pattern Sword, appearing transparent and ethereal.
Through this scan, Fang Xing could now clearly see that within the hilt of the sword, where it connected to the blade, there was something hidden! It was a thumb-sized token, black as pitch, seemingly a plain iron slab, but somehow embedded within the sword.
Even after using this sword multiple times, he had never noticed it!
'Damn, are they taking advantage of the fact that I'm a martial artist and not a cultivator? Even after sacrificing my blood, I didn't sense anything unusual within the sword?'
'Why did Chen Yi hide this secret within the sword? Could it be that he was also being monitored at the time and couldn't spare the attention? So, he came up with this plan to hide the secret, giving the sword to a random martial artist... intending to retrieve it later?'
'This... It feels strangely familiar, am I turning into that dog? Ugh, ugh, ugh...'
'But back then, that dog gained an opportunity from a baked bun and soared to greatness... Could it be that my opportunity has arrived as well?'
'However, it's clear that I need to retrieve that token first... Looks like I'll need some secret art or just destroy this sword outright...'
With that thought, Fang Xing took out the Dark Birth Box, along with a bunch of test tubes, beakers, and other laboratory equipment. His expression turned solemn as he donned a white lab coat, looking every bit the part of a researcher, and began mixing the Revealing Solution with the LIQ714 Original Liquid.
Half an hour later, a layer of peculiar liquid appeared in the Dark Birth Box.
It looked clear and transparent, yet it seemed to emanate a rainbow-like radiance.
"The White Ze Liquid is highly unstable, even when stored in the Dark Birth Box. It can only be stored for a maximum of ten minutes, which is why the Prevention Bureau eventually abandoned it."
Fang Xing quickly took out the White Ze Liquid and dripped it onto the Ink Pattern Sword.
One drop, two drops...
The White Ze Liquid seemed to have a life of its own as it formed a thin film that enveloped the entire sword.
Then, the rainbow radiance faded, and the liquid began to drip down the blade like ordinary water.
"Clear as water, not a hint of black... No need for a blueprint comparison, this sword is definitely not tainted by the Evil God in the slightest."
Seeing this, Fang Xing nodded, "As expected... Cultivation items have nothing to do with the Evil God... It's time to initiate the second probe. I'll plant some talismans and miscellaneous items in the black market and then report them to the Prevention Bureau..."
...
Several days later.
The sky was overcast, and snowflakes gently fell.
Fang Xing walked along the river embankment on his way to school as usual.
"Good morning, Captain Jing!"
A fit and attractive woman walking her dog approached him. It was none other than Jing Xia, the captain of the Prevention Bureau's action team.
"Morning..."
Jing Xia yawned lazily.
"How's the situation with the Sect of Gates?"
Fang Xing stopped walking, knowing that this matter involved him personally.
"We busted several of their bases and captured or killed quite a few of them... Unfortunately, the people under me are useless, and we only managed to catch some small fries..."
Jing Xia seemed to trust Fang Xing, or perhaps she considered him a suspect with a right to know: "But at least we've wiped out most of the Sect of Gates' influence in Maple Leaf City. They shouldn't bother you again... I've finally completed a segment of work and can relax for a bit."
"That's wonderful."
Fang Xing laughed heartily, feeling no guilt about secretly planting cultivation items in the black market...
After parting ways, Fang Xing walked into Yucai High School.
'Now that I've cultivated my spirit to a new realm, and after a few days of experimentation, I can contain this spiritual power within my body. Even Xia Long won't be able to detect anything unusual...'
'In fact, it doesn't matter if I'm exposed. Martial arts cultivation can be forced with resources, but martial will is much harder to come by... Even if they have the resources, I wouldn't be able to access them, so they can only assume I have incredible insight.'
'My cultivation speed is getting faster and faster, even surpassing my previous plans. I'll definitely be able to reach the Uncarved Jade realm by the end of the winter vacation... By the time I finish my second year, I might even be able to attempt the Four Realms during the Hundred Stars Joint Exam!'
Aside from those top-tier universities, most college students only certified as professionals during or after their graduation.
Those who could certify as professionals in high school were geniuses among geniuses, the kind who could get into top universities without having to take the entrance exams!
Of course, to get into those top-tier universities, one still had to rely on their own hard work and talent!
As Fang Xing entered the classroom, he focused on listening to Teacher Lan Fei's lecture.
Every bit of progress in martial arts would give cultivators feedback.
After refining his bones, his mental acuity had improved again, enhancing his comprehension abilities and making it easier to follow the lessons.
'This is nothing. Once I reach the Uncarved Jade realm, even a mediocre talent will become a true jade... This will be a huge breakthrough!'
Just as he was deep in thought, Xia Long suddenly appeared outside the classroom. "Apologies, Teacher Lan Fei... The principal wants to see Fang Xing, Liu Wei, and Bai Leyi, the three of you!"
"Of course. Students, please don't disturb the others."
Teacher Lan Fei smiled.
"Teacher Xia Long... What's the principal's business?"
The three of them walked out of the classroom through the back door, and Liu Wei spoke up directly.
"Yes, Xingcheng High School has a teacher leading a visit to observe our open classes. It's a normal exchange..."
Xia Long replied, "The principal of Xingcheng High School has a bit of a personal grudge with our Principal Lu, but you don't need to worry about that. Just remember one thing: beat the excellent students they brought with them!"
"So direct?" Fang Xing was a little surprised. "Don't we need to have the open class first and then find a reason to spar?"
This was too direct and felt a bit too brutal.
But Xia Long only gave a cold laugh. "We martial artists should be direct! I don't want to waste time. Just go and challenge them, beat them all down. If you can't, then I'll beat you down myself!"
He clenched his fists, causing the air to reverberate with a booming sound.
No one in the room could ignore the threat of an External Realm martial artist!
"No problem. Is there a reward if we win?"
Fang Xing asked.
"Isn't the principal's favor enough? Isn't bringing honor to the school enough?" Xia Long countered.
'Sigh, I should've known from the special scholarship. This school is so stingy...'
Fang Xing sighed and followed Xia Long to the school's sports field.
Principal Lu Guangming was not present, only a few female teachers who accompanied the visitors on their tour.
The group from Xingcheng High School was small, consisting of only four people: one teacher and three students.
The teacher, named Sun Fu, was in his thirties, and looked gentle and refined with his gold-rimmed glasses. However, Fang Xing couldn't help but feel that he looked like a scoundrel in disguise... Well, Fang Xing had to admit that he was projecting his own hostility, causing him to view the enemy with a biased lens.
As for the three students behind Sun Fu, they looked to be around sixteen or seventeen years old, with two boys and one girl, all dressed in the same school uniform, exuding youth and vitality.
"Teacher Xia, have you brought your university seeds?"
The leader of the Xingcheng High School group was a man named Sun Fu, who had a gentle demeanor. He looked at Fang Xing and the others with appreciation in his eyes as he said, "They are indeed elites."
"Cut the chatter," Xia Long interrupted. "You came here looking for a fight, didn't you? Well then... let's see whose students are better!"
Xia Long coldly smiled and said, "Liu Wei, you go first!"
Liu Wei's expression remained unchanged as he stepped forward. "My name is Liu Wei. Who will fight me?"
"Oh, Teacher Xia Long, you've misunderstood me," Sun Fu said, pushing up his gold-rimmed glasses with a look of helplessness. "Ming Yixin, you go. Remember, this is about mutual learning and friendship."
"Yes, Teacher!"
The female student from the group stepped forward.
She had long eyebrows and gentle features, but her eyes held a firm determination.
Fang Xing's gaze shifted downward, focusing on the girl's palms.
Ming Yixin's hands were not soft or delicate. Instead, they were rough and calloused, indicating a great deal of hard work and training.
These were the hands of a true martial artist!
'This girl's hand techniques are remarkable...'
Fang Xing thought to himself, and in the next moment, Liu Wei had already engaged Ming Yixin in combat.
"Hah!"
Liu Wei let out a soft exclamation, his muscles rippling like flowing water as his entire body transformed into that of a small giant.
Boom!
Ming Yixin took a step forward, her right hand spreading out with her fingers like claws, carrying the force of wind and thunder as she unleashed a terrifying cry!
A-rank martial art—Soul Searching Dragon Claw Hand!
