Chapter 6: The RPG
Chapter 6: The RPG
"Game activation successful?"
Just as Lin Sai sensed the presence of Essence, a game-like notification sounded in his ear.
As a man who died at a gaming table in his past life, he instantly understood the nature of his newly awakened skill.
Then, Lin Sai started to shiver.
This wasn't due to the excitement of his skill awakening, but rather—it was too cold!
Lin Sai, who had just been in the midst of a fire, suddenly found himself in a forest, with snowflakes as white as goose feathers drifting down from above.
Whoosh—
A cold wind swept through the trees.
"Brrrr..."
Lin Sai shivered, recalling Alvera's whispered words before her departure.
"Delivered to a safe place..."
"This is definitely safe, but it's too far!"
It was still over two months before Anville Village would see snowfall!
Who knew where this Righteous One's super support skill had sent him.
Lin Sai turned to survey his surroundings, only to find himself surrounded by lush, verdant trees.
Fortunately, the leaves above him were withered and yellowed, not the slender type like pine needles, indicating that he might not be in a cold region.
"First things first, let's figure out my location."
Amidst the forest, he couldn't see much in the distance, and his view above was blocked by the tree canopy.
Lin Sai, a rural boy in this life, was the type who liked to climb.
Trees weren't a challenge for him.
Rubbing his hands together, Lin Sai chose a birch tree that seemed easier to climb, sprinted towards it, and began to ascend the trunk.
Soon, he poked his head out from the sparse canopy.
The leaves of the deciduous tree would naturally fall, but not all at once, and as Lin Sai pushed through the canopy, a handful of accumulated snow on the leaves immediately covered his face.
"Peh—"
Wiping off the melted snow, Lin Sai took another look around.
White snowflakes filled the air, forming a seamless white line on the horizon, as the entire forest was being covered by a blanket of snow.
Lin Sai quickly closed his eyes, finding the pure white scenery a bit blinding.
After a moment, he continued to observe his surroundings.
This was a vast forest sea, and Lin Sai's position was slightly lower, preventing him from seeing the edge of the forest.
Except to the west, where the forest suddenly opened up, revealing a cliff that cut off the line of sight...
"Wait, smoke!"
Lin Sai squinted, spotting a wisp of smoke rising in the west.
In the wilderness, smoke meant hope!
At that moment, a rustling sound came from the neighboring forest.
Lin Sai's heart skipped a beat.
After observing for a while, he identified it as a pheasant-like bird fluttering in the distance. Assured that it wasn't a dangerous beast, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Startled by the commotion, Lin Sai's body relaxed, and he decided against climbing trees for now.
Instead, he remained in the tree, guiding his Essence and sensing the power of his awakened skill.
Perhaps it was due to the skill's game-like nature.
with caution, and as he touched his Essence, he felt a mysterious sensation, but he could also perceive it in the form of game data—a format he was most familiar with.
Lin Sai chose the latter, and in his mind, a human-shaped figure representing his body appeared, with strings of text and images below detailing specific data.

Lindsay scratched his head.
His awakened skill was a manifestation of the games he had played in his past life, categorized into modules such as RPG, Survival Building, Fighting, and Sports.
Each module had its own slot.
Lindsay could activate the abilities of an entire game genre, and he could freely switch between modules.
Additionally, each activated module would automatically awaken a new function, allowing for the development of further abilities. For example, Lindsay's current RPG module had the potential to unlock additional skills.
"But how does this help me right now?" Lindsay wondered.
Admittedly, the ability to present his status in a data-driven manner was exceptional.
However, it did not grant him any extraordinary power beyond that of an ordinary person. Lindsay's physical strength remained that of a mortal.
"For now, survival is the top priority."
"I need to find shelter quickly in this snowy weather."
The snow continued to fall.
Lindsay couldn't afford to waste any time. He quickly slid down the tree trunk, hugging it tightly.
From his observation at the top of the tree, he knew that the source of the fire was quite a distance away.
Navigating through the forest without any paths was no easy task.
Before setting off, Lindsay made some preparations.
He adjusted the tightness of his collar and cuffs, ensuring they wouldn't hinder his movements or get caught on the bushes.
Then, he began his journey! Lindsay maintained a steady pace, carefully making his way through the forest.
Traveling through the forest without getting lost was one of the biggest threats.
However, Lindsay could determine his general direction by observing the growth patterns of the trees and the positions of the shadows.
When it was difficult to distinguish, he would look around.
The clear footprints in the snow would immediately provide the answer, saving him the trouble of marking the tree trunks.
Although the snow would soon cover the footprints, it wouldn't affect Lindsay's speed as he had already run far ahead.
Instead, it was the low-hanging branches, dense bushes, and moss-covered stones that posed the most annoyance.
These common obstacles were the most troublesome.
The branches scratched his skin and caught his clothes; the bushes blocked his path; and the moss-covered stones were slippery, especially with the ongoing snowfall!
Lindsay encountered these obstacles one after another, leaving him in a disheveled state.
Fortunately, he adjusted his stride and paid close attention to his surroundings, managing to maintain his pace without interruption.
After more than an hour, Lindsay's body remained warm from running, but his feet were painfully cold.
Swish, swish, swish...
At that moment, Lindsay heard a sound.
He turned his head, and a gust of wind brushed past his ear.
Lindsay focused his gaze and saw a blue ice spike piercing the tree trunk right next to his head.
If he hadn't dodged, he would have been dead! Lindsay blinked.
The next second, he turned and ran! As an Awakened, Lindsay's strength was still that of an ordinary child, and he couldn't possibly confront the enemy that launched such an attack head-on.
Lindsay's obvious attempt to flee caught the attention of the attacker, which emerged from a bush twenty meters behind him.
A beast with brownish-gray fur, a head resembling a wolverine, and a body like a fox, charged out and pursued Lindsay relentlessly.
Most dangerous of all,
Every time this beast raised its head, a blue ice spike would form above it and shoot towards Lindsay like a warrior's thrown spear!
Lindsay struggled to maintain his escape rhythm.
He roughly controlled his direction while running and began to complain loudly:
"Oh! Indeed, this world has Awakened ones."
"And magical beasts capable of casting spells, how reasonable!"
"But is this truly a safe place?!"
