Chapter 6: Our Uchiha Clan is Truly Flourishing!
The criminal and the victim’s body—Uchiha Izumi had carried them both back alone.
Throughout the journey, she’d been met with countless strange stares from passersby, leaving her so flustered she couldn’t lift her head the entire time.
Fortunately, no one misjudged her. Perhaps it was the unmistakable Uchiha clan attire she wore that kept the awkwardness at bay.
At last, steeling her nerves, she returned to the Uchiha Police Force headquarters.
And finally, after what felt like an eternity, she saw her senior, Uchiha Iizumi—once again.
The rigid tension in her body finally eased.
But then—
She quickly realized that every single senior in the police force was now fixating on her.
That peculiar sensation, as if she were some rare specimen under a microscope—she’d felt it before.
And just like then, a wave of nervousness washed over her.
"Leave the bodies here. They’ll be handled. Now, come with me—find the Clan Head."
Uchiha Iizumi’s cold, detached voice landed in Izumi’s ears like a balm.
For some reason, it brought her a strange sense of calm—unexpected safety.
The jittery unease in her chest began to fade.
It was as though she’d finally found a solid foundation to lean on.
"Yes, Senior!!"
Izumi snapped to attention, responding with forced enthusiasm.
As Uchiha Iizumi strode into the police headquarters, not even turning around, she asked the black-haired girl trailing behind:
"As a member of the Uchiha Police Force, if you encounter a civilian criminal who resists arrest during enforcement, what would you do?"
Is she testing me on theory?
Izumi felt a surge of confidence.
She’d spent a full month memorizing every line of the Police Force’s Conduct Manual—every single word, no exceptions.
She’d qualified for the recruitment exam not just by passing, but by acing it—achieving a perfect score.
She recalled the manual clearly:
When dealing with a civilian who resists arrest, the response should be proportionate to the threat.
If resistance is mild, use gentle control.
If it’s excessive, a firm but restrained response is acceptable—enough to bring them down, perhaps a face-plant, but nothing more.
After all, they were just civilians.
Not dangerous ninja.
"First, attempt to subdue them using a gentle method..."
Izumi began, reciting the textbook answer.
But she froze mid-sentence.
Because she suddenly remembered—what Uchiha Iizumi had done earlier today, when the short man tried to flee, had been nothing like the manual described.
Izumi swallowed the rest of her answer.
She couldn’t help but think—this senior wasn’t the type to follow rules blindly.
So she adjusted her reply, her voice dropping to a hesitant whisper:
"Maybe… a more forceful approach is needed?"
Just then, Uchiha Iizumi paused.
They’d reached the office of Uchiha Fugaku, Head of the Uchiha Clan.
Uchiha Iizumi glanced over her shoulder, voice flat:
"Newcomer—make sure your answer wasn’t just an attempt to flatter me. Remember: Absolute Justice stems from unwavering enforcement. The degree of enforcement must shift with the times."
"Right now… the Ninja World is more corrupted by evil than ever before. In turbulent times, harsh measures are necessary. Even the smallest trace of evil must be crushed—without mercy."
…Answered correctly.
Even though it wasn’t the standard response from the Conduct Manual.
But still—
Izumi couldn’t shake the feeling that Uchiha Iizumi’s ideology was dangerously extreme.
She believed the world had long since moved past the chaos of war.
The Third Ninja War was years behind them.
The Nine-Tails’ attack had been over for years too.
Now, yes, there were still minor conflicts—but nothing close to the level of “chaotic era.”
Look at the Uchiha Clan itself!
Everyone was progressing. Life was getting better.
Wasn’t it?
Uchiha Iizumi seemed overly pessimistic.
Of course—she kept those thoughts locked inside.
She’d never dare say them aloud.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
The door was tapped.
A deep, steady voice from within called out:
"Come in."
Uchiha Iizumi pushed the door open, dragging the slightly nervous girl behind her.
"Pool? And… Uchiha Izumi?"
Fugaku Clan Head blinked in mild surprise.
"You explain."
Uchiha Iizumi replied casually, then took a seat, propping one leg up, idly rubbing the armrest of the chair until it had worn down to a smooth, glossy sheen.
"Huh?"
Only when Fugaku’s gaze settled on Izumi did she realize—she was being addressed.
And Fugaku seemed completely unfazed by Iizumi’s lack of manners.
She hadn’t even greeted him.
Do they have a conflict?
A strange thought flickered through Izumi’s mind.
But she quickly composed herself.
"Headmaster Fugaku, today I was with Senior Iizumi—”
And so, Izumi recounted everything—every detail, without omission.
Fugaku’s brow furrowed deeply.
His expression mirrored that of the Third Hokage to a startling degree.
"Izumi… your methods are too extreme."
He sighed, his tone hardening.
"Our clan has been isolated because of actions like this. I know you’re acting on your sense of Justice. I understand your perspective. But Justice must be tempered—adapted to circumstances."
"You must know… the village has grown increasingly distant toward us. We were forced to relocate to the very edge of the village. We’ve nowhere left to retreat. We must take steps to restore our reputation."
"But this…"
He looked at the young Uchiha—still a genin, yet already a high-ranking Jonin.
The thought of her potential made him ache.
She was exceptional—had awakened her Three Tomoe Sharingan at an early age.
She possessed the rare "Molten Release"—the only Uchiha to bear two bloodline limits.
Perhaps one day, she would awaken the legendary Mangekyō Sharingan.
A pillar of the clan.
But…
Her ideals were utterly incompatible with his.
Not just with the hardliners—the faction pushing for open rebellion, even daring to suggest a coup against the village leadership.
Nor with the moderates—those who sought negotiation, peace, and compromise with the Hokage’s office.
Uchiha Iizumi’s Justice wasn’t rooted in the clan’s survival.
It stood for something greater—her own personal ideal of truth, of righteousness.
She stood alone.
She was an island within the clan.
That was why she was so isolated.
That was why she didn’t belong.
Uchiha Iizumi lifted her eyes, meeting Fugaku’s gaze.
"Are you asking me to consider moderation? To compromise my enforcement of Justice to ease tensions with the village?"
Fugaku said, "No need to phrase it so harshly."
But he didn’t deny it.
"My methods won’t change. Instead of urging me to hold back, you should focus on your own child. Find him a psychologist. I think it’s long overdue."
The words hung in the air—cold, sharp.
No further conversation was possible.
Uchiha Iizumi stood up and left.
Fugaku’s face froze.
To speak so harshly about a father’s son—especially in front of the man himself—was a rare provocation.
Even Fugaku felt a spark of anger.
But…
This wasn’t the first time.
Izumi had never liked Itachi.
In fact, she’d once attacked him—had it not been for Shisui’s intervention, Itachi might have died.
Fugaku stared after her retreating figure, his expression grim.
Izumi, meanwhile, stood frozen—eyes darting between the two men.
She could feel the tension in the room.
She sensed the simmering rage beneath Fugaku’s calm.
She even caught a glimpse of the man’s clenched fist—tight, almost trembling.
She had no idea why Iizumi held such a grudge against the Headmaster’s son.
Wait…
The Headmaster’s son…
That’s Itachi and Sasuke, right?
Izumi’s mind went blank.
Oh no…
Did I just pick the worst possible evaluator for my exam?!
My future looks… bleak.
…
