Chapter 6: Fat An
Chapter 6: Fat An
After stirring up Ah Fu's fighting spirit, Li Qian returned to his room and began pondering.
He didn't immediately rush into action but was held back by a lack of funds.
Whether it was the Limit-Breaking Stone or the potion capable of awakening the Dragon Bloodline, their prices were beyond what a high school student like Li Qian could afford.
The night before, he had checked the prices, and even an ordinary-quality Limit-Breaking Stone cost over 200,000 Federation Credits.
Should he seek help from Gao Yaxin?
No, that's not an option!
This thought had barely crossed his mind when Li Qian quickly dismissed it.
Her appreciation for him was one thing, but asking for her financial support was another matter.
Most importantly, they weren't close.
If he approached her now, claiming to have discovered the evolution method for the carp and asking for her funding, she might think he had lost his mind.
Instead of appreciating him, she might even find him repulsive.
As the saying goes, 'Words without wisdom, actions without strength.'
Given his age and background, it was highly unlikely that anyone, including himself, would believe that he could research the evolution method for the carp.
To research the evolution method, he needed a wealthy fool.
At this thought, a face suddenly popped into his mind—a round, chubby face covered in fat.
Without hesitation, Li Qian took out his phone and made a call, "Fat An, do you want a Dominant Potential Companion Beast?"
On the other end of the line, a round, chubby face twitched at the mention of this.
...
Half an hour later, at the entrance of the Pet Beast Mall.
Li Qian met Fat An.
Fat An's real name was An Junjie, and contrary to his name, he had no association with the words 'handsome' or 'outstanding'. He was known for his obesity, weighing over 180 kilograms, which earned him the nickname 'Fat An'.
Aside from his weight, he was also known for something else—his wealth! It was rumored that Fat An's family had connections with the Lingwater City Beastmaster Association.
However, the nature of their business dealings was unclear.
At a nearby Beast Coffee Shop, Li Qian took a cup of coffee offered by a tailcat's tail and sat across from Fat An, who was lounging in a booth, "Fat An, haven't you awakened yet?"
"My Psychic Energy has reached 9.8, and I estimate that within a month, I'll awaken my Beastmaster Talent," Fat An said, sipping the foam from his coffee, his expression filled with doubt.
He didn't understand why Li Qian had suddenly brought up this topic.
Li Qian didn't get straight to the point either; instead, he asked a question that had been on his mind, "I've always wondered, with your family's resources, buying a psychic potion should be easy, right?"
Fat An put down his coffee and pretended to be mature, "Let me tell you this, even if I don't awaken my Beastmaster Space in these remaining three months, I won't use a psychic potion."
"Aren't you worried about not getting into a Beastmaster University?" Li Qian was even more confused.
After all, whether one awakened their Beastmaster Space before high school graduation had a significant impact on their college entrance exam scores.
Failing to awaken the Beastmaster Space before graduation meant losing the chance to attend a prestigious university.
Of course, there were exceptions for those with rare Beastmaster Talents.
"Even without good grades, I can still get into a Beastmaster University," Fat An boasted.
Upon hearing this, Li Qian suddenly understood and couldn't help but silently criticize: The evil capitalists!
"The reason I don't use it is that psychic potions have side effects," Fat An revealed, "Not everyone can take them. If one's Psychic Energy doesn't meet the standard, taking a psychic potion might cause brain damage, affecting their future Beastmaster potential. And repairing such brain damage is extremely difficult. All psychic potions currently on the market exceed the tolerance level for those who haven't awakened their Beastmaster Space."
Upon hearing this, Li Qian nodded, "I see."
After An Paozi finished explaining, he steered the conversation back on track, "So, it's the weekend, and you called me out. What's up?"
"You know, my time is very limited right now."
"And you probably don't have much time either, right?"
At this point, An Paozi suddenly remembered something and asked uncertainly, "Have you awakened your talent?"
Li Qian smiled but remained silent, and his posture seemed to give away the answer.
An Paozi's eyes flashed with envy.
Li Qian continued, "An Paozi, do you want a Dominant Potential Companion Beast?"
"Of course I want a Dominant Potential Companion Beast. Do you know where I can buy one?" An Paozi scoffed, his face filled with skepticism.
Li Qian chuckled, "An Paozi, do you trust me?"
"Qian, don't be like that." An Paozi saw Li Qian's eyes light up, and a bad premonition suddenly arose in his heart, "You're not going to rob a bank or something, are you?"
Li Qian couldn't help but smirk, "With my skinny arms and legs, I don't even have a contract with a Companion Beast. How could I rob a bank?"
Spreading his hands, he continued, "To be honest, I've discovered a reliable evolution method for Companion Beasts. It has a 95% success rate. With just a few more experiments, it'll be complete."
"If you fund these experiments, I'll give you a Dominant Potential Companion Beast afterward!"
An Paozi rolled his eyes at this, his expression clearly saying, 'Do you think I'm stupid and easy to fool?'
Li Qian sighed helplessly upon seeing this.
As expected, even An Paozi, the unlucky one, didn't believe such a fantastical story.
"An Paozi, we've known each other for a while now. Do you think I'd lie to you?" Li Qian asked. "In our three years of high school, have I ever lied to you?"
An Paozi gave him a sidelong glance, "What about the time you signed my love letter with your name?"
"Cough, that... that was also for your own good. You know how proud and aloof the class monitor is. I didn't want you to get hurt." Li Qian explained.
"She didn't even accept me, and you think it would be different for you?!" An Paozi exclaimed.
"Think about it. Whenever you had a breakup, wasn't I there to drink with you?" Li Qian chose to gloss over the topic and continued to appeal to their friendship, "As minors, we couldn't drink. Every time, I used my dad's ID to buy alcohol for you."
An Paozi looked at Li Qian coldly, not giving any reaction.
Li Qian's eyes shifted, and he directly used his trump card, "I remember once, you told me you liked our Meditation Class teacher, Zhu Bingqing. You liked her where she was big, and where she was small, you liked it. After all this time, I've always been concerned about you."
Upon hearing this, An Paozi's face turned red with anger, and he gritted his teeth, "How much?"
Li Qian held up three fingers, "Three million!"
An Paozi's eyes widened at the number, "What? Three million? Get lost!"
"Impossible!"
Li Qian sighed, "Zhu Bingqing..."
An Paozi's mouth twitched when Li Qian brought up this matter again, "Buddy, I really don't have that much money!"
"Then how much do you have?" Li Qian hurriedly asked.
An Paozi trembled and held up one finger, "One million."
"One million is fine too!"
Li Qian chuckled, "One million for a Dominant Potential Companion Beast, Paozi, you're making a huge profit!"
An Paozi glanced at Li Qian, thinking to himself, 'I guess it's a gamble.'
