Chapter 6: Fangflare
Chapter 6: Fangflare
Fangflare quickly vanished under the glow of the Star Array.
In Qiao Sang’s Beastmaster Codex, a blank page suddenly lit up, and a vivid image of Fangflare appeared on it.
At the same time, in the blank spaces of the Beastmaster Codex, the following information appeared clearly before Qiao Sang:
Name: Fangflare
Attributes: Fire
Level: Beginner (63/1000) +
Skills: Bite (Beginner 73/100) +, Charge (Proficient 133/500) +, Flame Fang (Beginner 1/100) +
Points: 0
Qiao Sang was dumbfounded.
Does the Beastmaster Codex have this kind of information?
No, right?
She remembered that the Beastmaster Codex only had two functions: to bond and to provide a space for familiars. There was no such system-like feature.
But Qiao Sang wasn’t entirely sure about her memory, since the original owner was a bit of a slacker with many knowledge gaps.
However, this might just be a golden finger!
She would need to verify everything once she left this place.
Qiao Sang suppressed her excitement and formed the summoning seal.
In the next second, a white Star Array appeared on the ground, and the surrounding starlight converged to reveal an excited Fangflare.
“Fang!”
Fangflare called out to Qiao Sang.
Because of the bond, Qiao Sang easily understood what her familiar meant.
It wanted to try entering the Beastmaster Codex again.
Qiao Sang smiled indulgently and formed the seal to send Fangflare back.
As soon as it entered, Fangflare started calling out from inside the Codex, wanting to come out.
Qiao Sang couldn’t refuse, and as soon as Fangflare emerged, it happily wagged its red tail.
“Fang!”
Qiao Sang smiled and sent it back.
A moment later, she summoned it again.
Fangflare blinked its black eyes.
“Fang!”
Qiao Sang’s smile froze, but she hesitated for a moment before sending it back into the Codex.
When Fangflare came out again, its eyes were filled with anticipation.
“Fang!”
It wanted to play more!
Qiao Sang: “...”
When Ye Xiangting returned, she saw her daughter with a numb expression, forming seals to summon and dismiss Fangflare repeatedly.
Ye Xiangting asked curiously, “Sang Sang, what are you doing?”
Qiao Sang replied expressionlessly, “I’m playing.”
...
...
After leaving the Hanggang Familiar Base, Qiao Sang didn’t go home directly. Instead, she headed to the Hanggang Beastmaster Center.
According to the Alliance regulations, all Beastmasters who bonded with familiars had to register them at the Beastmaster Center within seven working days.
In this era, bonding with a familiar didn’t mean you could bring it home immediately. First, you needed to register your familiar, or it would be considered an unregistered entity.
Human cities were strictly off-limits to wild Supernatural Creatures. If an unregistered familiar was discovered, the Patrol Department would take it away, treating it as a wild Supernatural Creature.
Wild Supernatural Creatures attacking humans was not uncommon; news reports of such incidents were frequent.
To ensure the safety of humans, especially those whose brain domains had not awakened, the Alliance strictly prohibited the presence of wild Supernatural Creatures in cities.
Supernatural Creatures came in various types, each possessing mysterious and extraordinary powers. Animal-type Supernatural Creatures were relatively easy to spot.
However, creatures like elves and ghosts were much harder to detect once they hid themselves.
Therefore, the Alliance established the Patrol Department to specifically address such issues.
From the Hanggang Familiar Base, it was just a short turn to the Hanggang Beastmaster Center, making it a convenient detour on the way home.
At that turning point, her mother rode the Faithwarden ahead, saying she had something to attend to, and left the Plump Homing Dove for Qiao Sang to use.
By the time Qiao Sang arrived at the Hanggang Beastmaster Center, it was already 11:32 AM, and the center would close in just 28 minutes.
The information registration process was not as simple as the brain domain testing, which had only one window. Here, there were 16 windows available for information registration.
Qiao Sang took a number and found a seat to wait.
The Plump Homing Dove stood quietly by her side, while Fangflare, cradled in her arms, looked around curiously, clearly intrigued by the surroundings.
"Number 06556, please proceed to window 12."
"Number 06556, please proceed to window 12."
Qiao Sang glanced at her number, 06557, and then checked the time: 11:52 AM. It seemed she wouldn't be served before noon.
"Number 06557, please proceed to window 12."
Number 06556 hadn't shown up, so they called Qiao Sang's number directly.
Qiao Sang quickly stood up with Fangflare in her arms, feeling lucky today.
At window 12, a young man with a buzz cut greeted her.
"Hello, how can I assist you?"
Qiao Sang took out her information card and handed it over. "I'm here to register my familiar."
The young man placed the card on the scanner, glanced at it, and said, "Hello, it shows here that you are not yet a Beastmaster, so you cannot register a familiar."
Qiao Sang was taken aback. "Then I'll register as a Beastmaster first."
The young man replied, "Please provide your Brain Domain Certificate."
Qiao Sang, who was registering as a Beastmaster for the first time, didn't realize she needed the Brain Domain Certificate.
"I don't have it with me", she said, somewhat helplessly.
She then lifted Fangflare. "Can't this prove I'm a Beastmaster?"
The young man glanced at the computer, noting the time: 11:58 AM. "No, it can't."
"Why not?" Qiao Sang was puzzled.
"Are you done yet? If you don't have all your documents, move aside", a frustrated female voice came from behind her.
Qiao Sang turned around to see a girl in the Harmony Beastmaster High School uniform standing behind her. The girl had narrow, slanted eyes that made people uncomfortable when she looked down at them.
Seeing that Qiao Sang wasn't responding, the girl stepped past her and handed over her number slip. "I'm number 06556, ahead of her. Please process my familiar information change first."
Qiao Sang frowned, stood up to let her pass, though she found the girl's attitude annoying, she indeed lacked the necessary documents.
The young man refused the girl's request. "We require you to rejoin the queue if you miss your turn."
He then returned the information card to Qiao Sang. "To register as a Beastmaster, you need to provide proof and have your photo taken."
It was exactly noon. The young man turned the sign at his window and smiled. "We're closing now. You can come back this afternoon." He then left his station.
Neither of them had their business completed. Qiao Sang didn't mind; she had only thought of it as a convenient detour.
However, the girl in the high school uniform looked upset. "It's all your fault. If not for you, I would have been done."
Qiao Sang got up and started to leave.
A hand blocked her path. "Hey, are you ignoring me?"
Qiao Sang was confused and looked around. "Are you talking to me?"
"Is there anyone else here?" the girl's eyes widened in annoyance.
Two passersby quietly walked by at that moment.
