Chapter 6: Danzo's Obsession
Chapter 6: Danzo's Obsession
"Yo, this is Danzo's latest order." The Root ninja handed Mu Yue a scroll.
Mu Yue, whose code name in Root was "Night," nodded and took the scroll.
The two didn't exchange much, and as soon as the Root ninja handed over the scroll, he quickly disappeared into the shadows. Mu Yue was meant to be a hidden card for Root, and too much contact could draw unwanted attention from the Anbu.
Before the Root ninja left, Mu Yue performed an identification jutsu.
Name: Hiruzen Sarutobi
Potential: B
Chakra: 7000
Evaluation: A capable Jonin
Seeing the incredibly high chakra level of 7,000, Mu Yue couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy. He had yet to reach even 5,000, falling far behind Sarutobi's impressive reserves.
Only when he could no longer sense the presence of the Root ninja did Mu Yue return to his room and open the scroll to read Danzo's latest command.
"Uchiha Itachi, a genius of the Uchiha clan, is in your class. Pay close attention to his actions, assess his personality, and report back to me."
After reading the order, Mu Yue sighed. Danzo's paranoia and obsession with the Uchiha clan were bordering on pathological.
Itachi was only six years old this year and had just started at the Ninja Academy.
Despite being just a child, Danzo wanted him monitored and assessed simply because he was known as a genius within the clan.
Of course, it was also possible that Danzo had plans to recruit Itachi into Root.
However, Mu Yue doubted that Danzo's plans would come to fruition. The Third Hokage would surely remind Danzo who held the true power in Konoha.
The Third allowed Root to exist, but he would never tolerate an overly powerful faction within his village.
A genius Uchiha's potential was limitless, and who knew what heights they could reach.
Thus, a genius Uchiha either stayed within the clan or joined the Anbu—there was no in-between.
After reading the scroll, Mu Yue destroyed it with a fire jutsu.
This new order was within Mu Yue's acceptable range. In fact, even if Danzo hadn't sent a special messenger, Mu Yue would have reported Itachi's genius during his regular updates.
Given Danzo's fixation on the Uchiha clan, Mu Yue knew that hiding such information would be pointless and only draw suspicion onto himself.
Mu Yue created a shadow clone to practice ninjutsu while his main body began training to increase his chakra reserves.
Currently, his chakra capacity was his biggest weakness. No matter how many jutsus he learned or how proficient he became, without sufficient chakra, it would be difficult to display their full power.
A ninja with limited chakra could only achieve so much, while a ninja with abundant chakra had a high ceiling even if they were weak in other areas. In a sense, chakra determined a ninja's potential.
...
The next day.
Taking advantage of the fact that he didn't have any classes that morning, Mu Yue made his way to the Ninja Academy's resource room.
His goal was to gather the exam papers from the past few years for the fourth-grade students. The process went smoothly, and he even managed to find some for the first-grade students as well.
His primary purpose was to find potential disciples, but he also intended to help the two boys improve their theoretical knowledge.
After examining the papers, Mu Yue found that the questions didn't vary too much from year to year. Each question belonged to a specific type, with only slight changes in wording or data. Some papers even had identical questions.
Mu Yue nodded, now confident that the two boys could pass.
He felt that there was no need to drill them with practice questions. Simply letting them attempt the papers from the previous two years should be enough to ensure they scraped by.
After taking a few papers, Mu Yue left the resource room and headed to the staff room.
"She kept listening to me talk yesterday. It's obvious that she's interested in me!"
"Isn't it more likely that she just didn't want to talk to you?"
"When we were paying the bill yesterday, she even offered to split it! She's already considering my feelings!"
"Or maybe she just didn't want you to use the excuse of treating her to a meal as a reason to ask her out again."
As soon as Mu Yue entered the staff room, he saw Ueda Aya arguing with Ikegaya Isamu.
Mu Yue glanced at Kimura Sugito, who was enjoying the show from the sidelines.
"Isamu went on a blind date yesterday, and he's been telling us about it," Sugito explained. "He wants our help in pursuing that girl, but Aya thinks she's not interested and is advising him to move on.
He felt that Mu Yue was the type of person who would have many girlfriends.
"Special tricks... I think as long as you let the other party feel your sincerity, that should be enough," Mu Yue replied thoughtfully.
Whether he had tricks or not was one thing, but Mu Yue had no intention of sharing them with Iketani. It didn't fit the persona he wanted to portray.
"Sincerity..." Iketani furrowed his brows, unsure how to make someone feel his sincerity.
"Give it up, Iketani. Don't you see how good-looking Teacher Mu Yue is? His tricks might not work for you even if he shares them," Ueda said with a hint of sarcasm.
"How is that possible? I admit that Teacher Mu Yue is slightly more handsome than me, but the difference isn't that huge," Iketani argued, refusing to concede.
"You're truly stubborn, aren't you?" Ueda said with a hint of exasperation as she watched Iketani's stubborn expression.
Being a woman herself, she understood women's thoughts. After hearing Iketani's story, she knew that this blind date was a lost cause, but Iketani just wouldn't listen.
"Good luck," Mu Yue offered a smile of encouragement, unsure what else to say. Even his friend, Ueda, couldn't persuade him otherwise.
Moreover, Mu Yue genuinely hoped that Iketani would stay busy so that he could have more opportunities to teach the fourth-grade class again.
"As expected of Teacher Mu Yue, you understand. Just wait and see, Aya. I'll make her fall for me," Iketani said, feeling more confident with Mu Yue's encouragement.
In the afternoon class, Mu Yue made a small experiment. He intentionally lowered the quality of his lecture.
Based on the system's previous feedback, he inferred that the lecture evaluation would be divided into two main parts: lecture content quality and student satisfaction.
He wanted to achieve a B-grade evaluation because the first time he received an A rating, he got an additional reward.
Following this logic, he surmised that the first time he received a B rating, there should also be a bonus.
[Lecture completed, calculating results...]
[Evaluation: B]
[Reward: Chakra +20]
[First-time achievement of a B-grade evaluation: Mastery of Chakra Form Manipulation]
Mu Yue's mind was instantly filled with memories of cultivating Chakra Form Manipulation.
Mu Yue was delighted. In the Chakra system, Form Manipulation was on par with Nature Transformation, and both could effectively enhance ninjutsu.
Although he had only achieved mastery and not proficiency in Form Manipulation, it wasn't restricted by Chakra attributes.
Speaking of Form Manipulation, one must mention Naruto's iconic Rasengan, or Spiral Sphere. This A-rank ninjutsu, developed from scratch by Naruto, was the epitome of Form Manipulation, boasting immense power without the need for Nature Transformation.
"I can start developing Rasengan now." Mu Yue intended to create this versatile A-rank ninjutsu himself. With the detailed training process from the original story and his knowledge of Form Manipulation, the process shouldn't be too challenging.
The Chakra bonus from the B-grade evaluation also made Mu Yue reconsider his lecturing approach. He felt that it might be worthwhile to aim for B-grades occasionally. While the bonus Chakra from a single B-grade wasn't substantial, it could add up over time.
With the addition of Rasengan development to his schedule, Mu Yue realized that his life was becoming exceptionally fulfilling.
During the day, he taught at the Academy, guided Shisui in the evenings, and practiced cultivating and developing ninjutsu at night. On weekends, he conducted special training sessions for Might Guy and Obito. His schedule was packed.
Mu Yue yearned to maintain this peaceful life and steadily grow stronger over the years.
Unfortunately, he hadn't crossed over at an opportune time, and it seemed difficult to enjoy tranquil days ahead.
On the fourth day after Mu Yue's arrival in the Ninja World, an unsettling report reached Konoha from the front lines.
8:00 pm, another chapter will be released.
