Chapter 599: Phoenix Order Outsiders
Chapter 599: Phoenix Order Outsiders
"Do you know where Kyle used his magic?"
George, seeing Hermione's reaction, said indignantly, "At the Cauldron Pub, it's unbelievable!"
"That's impossible!" Hermione exclaimed, "I've read about it in books. The Trace is used to detect magical responses in a specific area. In a place like the Cauldron Pub, where wizards gather, the Ministry of Magic can't identify who used magic."
"But we saw the letters with our own eyes," Fred said.
"And we confirmed it many times; there's no mistake."
"But..."
Hermione wanted to say something more, but Mrs. Weasley interrupted her.
"Alright, dears," she led the two into the kitchen, "Regardless, they're safe now, and that's what matters."
"I bet you're all hungry. I've made beef pies and roasted chicken, along with various jam sandwiches..."
Mr. Weasley didn't join them in the kitchen, "Alright, I have to go now."
"Stay for lunch first."
"No, I have a lot of work to do, and I can't stay away for too long."
As he spoke, Mr. Weasley directly Apparated away.
Fred and George immediately followed suit, Apparating from the foyer to the kitchen.
"That's enough, you two!" Mrs. Weasley, startled, shouted, "You can use magic, but that doesn't mean you should use it for everything. And I've told you many times not to Apparate inside the house!"
"Okay, Mom!" Fred and George replied, then ran off, giggling.
Given Kyle's understanding of the twins, they probably didn't take this seriously.
During the meal, Professor Moody and Tonks also returned, and everyone gathered around as Mrs. Weasley served beef pies and mashed potatoes to each person.
"So, you've joined the Phoenix Order too?" Tonks said excitedly, her hair turning a bright golden color.
"Actually, I'm not sure," Kyle said. Dumbledore hadn't explicitly discussed this with him, but since Mr. Weasley had invited him, it implied that he had already obtained Dumbledore's approval.
Therefore, Kyle wasn't certain if he was officially part of the Phoenix Order or if he was just a temporary helper.
"It's fine," Tonks said, "I'm sure Dumbledore must have thought you weren't ready yet, just like the others."
She glanced at Harry, Ron, and Hermione sitting across from her.
"Wait..." Ron quickly interjected, "Don't we count as members of the Phoenix Order?"
"Of course not," Tonks laughed, "Every official member of the Phoenix Order has to sign a magical contract. Have you signed one?"
"Well..." Ron and Harry looked at each other, as they hadn't actually seen any magical contracts.
"After all, you're still students," Lupin said, "but anyone who can be here is trustworthy. On the day you graduate, you'll naturally become members of the Phoenix Order, I promise."
"But that's still three years away," Ron sighed, poking at the mashed potatoes in his plate dejectedly.
He had thought he had already joined the Phoenix Order and had been excited about it for a long time, only to find out it was all a misunderstanding.
"Don't say that, Remus," Tonks's hair turned a light pink, "Joining the Phoenix Order also has its conditions. What if their grades aren't up to par?"
"What?" Ron said instinctively, "We need good grades too?"
"Of course," Moody said gruffly, "The Phoenix Order requires strength. How can we fight the Death Eaters if we're not strong enough? It's better to stay in a safer place than to go and get killed."
After saying this, he lowered his head and sniffed at the beef pie in front of him, as if checking for poison.
This action displeased Mrs. Weasley.
"Alastor, I made this myself."
Moody didn't respond.
He, of course, knew this, but a habit of several decades wasn't something he could change easily.
If he didn't check, he wouldn't even eat his own food.
Mrs. Weasley, annoyed, gave him the smallest portion of mashed potatoes, only about a spoonful.
However, Moody didn't mind.
Everyone enjoyed the meal, feeling happy for Kyle and Harry.
Everyone began serving themselves food and chatting, and the topic quickly shifted to Moody and Sirius.
"Are you going back to Hogwarts this year?" Harry asked. "To continue as the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor?"
"I definitely will," Sirius replied without hesitation. "I'd bet that the curse has already worn off, and if so, there's nothing to worry about."
"That's great!" Harry exclaimed, but the next moment, he suddenly covered the scar on his forehead with his hand.
However, everyone's attention was on Sirius, and no one noticed this.
"Alastor, what about you?" Tonks asked.
Moody hesitated for a moment and didn't answer.
After Voldemort's resurrection, he was destined to become very busy, whether it was guarding against a surprise attack from Voldemort or investigating the whereabouts of the Death Eaters; all of these tasks required a lot of time.
At the same time, the Hogwarts students' poor performance in Defense Against the Dark Arts also worried him.
After all, they would soon be facing Voldemort, and it was crucial to have self-defense capabilities. So, he had been deliberating on what to do.
As for Sirius... his abilities were excellent, but his teaching skills were just average, barely passing.
"Let's wait and see." Moody cut a small piece of pie with his knife and said, "Maybe Dumbledore can find a better professor."
"I don't think that's likely," Kyle whispered.
Although it wasn't clear what the situation would be this year, the curse probably hadn't ended.
Moreover, under normal circumstances, no one would want to take on this job. If someone did, it would likely be because Dumbledore had forced a friend to take it.
Anyway, Dumbledore had many friends, and if he forced one to take the job each year, it would definitely be sustainable for fifty or sixty years.
In the cheerful atmosphere, the lunch gradually came to an end.
Afterward, Tonks and Moody returned to the Ministry of Magic, while Kyle found Sirius, who was chatting with Lupin.
"What did you say? A library?"
"Yes," Kyle nodded. "The Black family has such a long history; there must be a lot of books here. I want to take a look."
"Hmm, let me think..." Sirius frowned slightly, deep in thought for a long time, but he couldn't recall where the family's books were kept.
He knew there was a study upstairs, which used to be his grandfather's room, filled with a wall of books. But Kyle probably wasn't interested in those.
"Kreacher! Kreacher!" Sirius called out, not knowing what else to do.
He wasn't the only one there, and soon, the house-elf Kreacher appeared before them.
"Master Sirius, Master Kyle," the elf bowed, looking excited. "Would you like some raspberry biscuits?"
"We've already eaten," Sirius replied casually and then asked, "Do you know where all the books here are kept... not in the study, but in a place like a library?"
"Kreacher certainly knows," the elf said proudly. "The old master specifically instructed Kreacher to guard that place at all costs, saying it was the Black family's most important treasure."
Suddenly, Kreacher began to sob: "Before, Master Regulus's favorite place was the library. Now Master Sirius is finally asking Kreacher too."
Sirius's face flushed with embarrassment.
Honestly, if it weren't for Kyle's question, he might never have thought of looking for the library in his lifetime.
But seeing the house-elf's teary-eyed appearance, he didn't feel right about telling the truth.
"Yes, yes," Sirius said, his gaze wandering. "Take us there; we want to take a look inside."
The elf glanced at Kyle, his expression showing hesitation and struggle.
Because he had been instructed that only members of the Black family could go there.
"What?"
As Kreacher didn't respond, Sirius frowned and asked, "Can't we go?"
"Of course, it's no problem," the elf decided in his heart. "Although Master Kyle isn't a member of the Black family, he brought Master Regulus back. The old master would definitely agree.
"Kreacher will take you there now!"
