Chapter 598: Back to Number 12, Grimmauld Place
Chapter 598: Back to Number 12, Grimmauld Place
Dumbledore didn't linger long at the Ministry of Magic. After a brief conversation with Kyle, Professor McGonagall followed him out.
In the elevator, Mr. Weasley shooed away a paper airplane hovering above his head and extended an invitation to Kyle.
"Why don't you come over here?" he said in a hushed tone. "Everyone's here, and Molly has prepared a feast to celebrate your safe return."
"Alright, then," Kyle agreed.
Diana had probably kept him from going elsewhere due to this interrogation, but now that it was over, there was no need to stay in Ottery St. Catchpole any longer.
Besides, he couldn't possibly stay cooped up for two months.
Harry seemed delighted by Kyle's decision, or perhaps it was the relief of knowing he wouldn't be expelled from Hogwarts that made him smile at the slightest thing.
When the elevator stopped at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, where Chris was supposed to get off, he left alone since Kyle had decided to go to Number 12, Grimmauld Place.
"Have fun," Chris said with a laugh. "If you plan to stay overnight, remember to send me an owl in advance."
"Okay, Dad," Kyle nodded.
They arrived in the atrium, which was much less crowded than it had been in the morning. A duty wizard had his face buried in the Daily Prophet, seemingly either reading the newspaper or taking a nap.
As they walked past the magical fountain, Harry suddenly turned back.
"Wait a second..."
He took out his money pouch, didn't even glance at it, and poured all the money into the fountain, creating a jingling sound.
"I thought about it when I came here," Harry explained as he put away his now-empty money pouch. "If I managed to escape unscathed, I'd donate all the money I had on me."
"So, should I donate something, too?" Kyle joined him by the fountain.
He rummaged through his pocket for a while and finally pulled out a Sickle.
His money was all in the Snorkack Vault, so he couldn't access it immediately. This was all he had on him for the time being...
But it was still a meaningful gesture.
Kyle tossed the Sickle into the fountain, creating a splash slightly larger than a Galleon.
He looked up at the inscription on the fountain.
"All proceeds from the Magical Fountain go to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries."
"This is all I have for now," Kyle muttered. "If everything goes well, I'll make up for it next time..."
After that, the three of them traveled through the fireplace and arrived at the Cauldron Pub.
Perhaps it was a rare opportunity, or maybe it was because Kyle was with them, but Mr. Weasley chose not to Apparate and instead opted for Muggle transportation...
Throughout the journey, Mr. Weasley was excited, exclaiming at every stop, drawing strange looks from those around them as if they were gawking at a bunch of unsophisticated country bumpkins.
To be fair, Mr. Weasley's current appearance did fit that description, especially with his mismatched clothes.
However, for Kyle and Harry, the journey was somewhat uncomfortable.
Even though Harry had already experienced this once in the morning, he couldn't help but lower his head and avoid engaging in conversation with Mr. Weasley.
Kyle quietly moved to a more distant spot, disguising himself as a passerby.
When they reached their destination, both Harry and Kyle were quick to exit the station, leaving behind Mr. Weasley, who was still shouting at the ticket machine.
"I've never wanted to learn Apparition so badly," Harry muttered. "Fred and George already know it, and they're eager to use it every chance they get."
"Kyle, you'll learn that spell this year, right?"
"Yeah, we can choose to learn that spell when we're in our sixth year," Kyle replied.
In fact, he had already mastered it; this was just a formality.
When the three of them arrived at Grimmauld Place, it was already noon.
Perhaps because it was during work hours, there weren't many people around, but even so, it was much livelier than the last time they had visited.
"Oh, darlings, I knew you'd be fine."
Mrs. Weasley happily ran over and hugged Harry and Kyle.
"Welcome, Kyle," Hermione also rushed over, looking a bit nervous.
"Harry, how did it go...?"
"Master Kyle!"
Before she could finish her sentence, a small figure rushed over from behind, almost knocking her to the ground.
"Welcome, Master Kyle," the house-elf Kreacher said respectfully. "Would Master like some biscuits? Perhaps some raspberry biscuits, or would you like some butterbeer first?"
Everyone stared wide-eyed at the house-elf's gesture.
Especially Ron and Harry, who simultaneously squeezed their thighs, wondering if they were dreaming... Otherwise, why had this house-elf suddenly become so hospitable?
They had been staying here for quite some time, yet they had never received a friendly gesture from this house-elf. He had always treated them with a different attitude, except for Sirius, whom he respected.
Harry was well aware that Kreacher often grumbled about them behind their backs, speaking rudely and ignoring them as if it were a daily occurrence.
How could it be that...
Looking at the house-elf's respectful demeanor, Harry vaguely saw a glimpse of Dobby's shadow.
"Are you sure this house belongs to Sirius?" Ron whispered. "I feel like Kyle is the real master here."
"I don't know," Harry said subconsciously.
He fully understood Ron's thoughts. In fact, not only them, but even Mrs. Weasley standing beside them looked a bit incredulous.
"Don't be surprised," Sirius said as he stepped out of the house.
"Kyle has done the Black family a great service, which is why Kreacher is even more respectful to him than to me."
He walked past the excited house-elf and came to stand beside the two of them. "How are things? Is everything settled?"
"It couldn't be better!" Harry exclaimed happily. "I wasn't expelled, and the charges were dropped!"
"Yes," Kyle agreed.
"I knew it!" Ron jumped up from where he was standing. "I knew you'd be fine!"
"Yes, you didn't do anything wrong. They can't convict you," Hermione also breathed a sigh of relief. Her hands had been shaking since the beginning.
Although they said this, everyone's faces showed relief, and Mrs. Weasley wiped her eyes with her apron.
But this atmosphere was soon shattered by a sudden explosion.
It was Fred and George. They suddenly appeared behind Kyle, and their abrupt voices startled everyone.
"Actually, we knew you'd be fine," Fred said, putting his arm around Kyle's shoulder.
"Yeah, and we weren't worried at all."
"I think the Ministry should compensate you."
"You're dreaming," Kyle said with a laugh. "They won't give me a Nutter."
"Wait," Hermione seemed to realize something as she listened to their conversation, and she looked at them in disbelief.
"Do you mean... did Kyle also go to the Ministry for questioning?"
"Yeah," Kyle shrugged. "And just like Harry, it was for using magic outside of school..."
Hermione was stunned by this revelation.
Harry's violation of the rules was understandable to her. Although it wasn't his intention, it was indeed his third time being caught using magic outside of school.
But for this to happen to Kyle seemed odd. Didn't he live in a village with many wizards?
