Chapter 595: Seed of Thunder Qi
Chapter 595: Seed of Thunder Qi
Behind the colossal Thunder Winged-Bird, a streak of light shot forth, and a refined and elegant middle-aged cultivator quietly appeared before Lu Chen and Lei Zheng.
The cultivator's aura was profound and unfathomable, like an endless abyss. His eyes were silver-white, with thunder patterns radiating from the center, giving him an incredibly deep and mysterious appearance.
"Elder Qi, allow me to introduce Lu Chen, a fellow cultivator specializing in spirit herb cultivation and spirit beast taming," Lei Zheng quickly stepped forward and respectfully introduced.
"Fellow Lu possesses a talent for nurturing spirit beasts and plants, so I've brought him here to examine this Thunder Winged-Bird and uncover the reason for its condition," he added, turning to Lu Chen.
"Greetings, Fellow Lu. This is Star Envoy Qi Wuhe," Lei Zheng said.
"Greetings, Elder Qi," Lu Chen replied, maintaining a respectful yet confident demeanor.
"Young Fellow Lu, thank you for coming today. I entrust this spirit beast to your care," Qi Wuhe said with a gentle tone.
"I will do my utmost to resolve this issue and ease your worries, Elder," Lu Chen assured sincerely.
Following Qi Wuhe, Lu Chen and Lei Zheng entered the cave abode.
"The size and purity of qi in this cave abode of a Core Formation cultivator certainly surpasses mine. However, the defensive array formations are likely not as sophisticated as my two fifth-grade arrays," Lu Chen mused to himself after a quick assessment.
The trio arrived at the habitat of the fourth-grade Thunder Winged-Bird.
Initially, the bird seemed excited upon seeing Lei Zheng, but its enthusiasm quickly faded as it entered the cave, and it slumped lazily onto a thick spiritual tree wrapped in thunderous light.
"Elder Qi, may I inquire how long this spirit beast has been exhibiting these unusual symptoms?" Lu Chen asked, cutting straight to the matter at hand.
"Around a month. At first, I thought it was just a mood swing or something trivial, but as time passed, its condition seemed to deteriorate," Qi Wuhe replied.
"During this time, I've tried various methods and even invited several cultivators skilled in beast taming, but we've yet to find a satisfactory solution."
"This Thunder Winged-Bird has been a companion for a long time, and we share a strong bond. However, as it hasn't broken through to the fifth-grade and hasn't refined its throat bone, it cannot speak, only conveying a vague sense of discomfort," he explained.
"As for the reason, that remains a mystery."
Lu Chen nodded gently and approached the Thunder Winged-Bird, his gaze soft and friendly. He projected a peaceful thought towards the majestic creature.
Then, he extended his spiritual sense into the bird's body, carefully searching for any abnormalities.
Although he knew that Elder Qi and others had conducted multiple searches, he wanted to be thorough.
As expected, he found nothing out of the ordinary.
Unfazed, Lu Chen maintained his composure. Noticing the bird gradually relaxing around him, he took out a Misty Immortal Peach from his storage bag.
"Here, try this spirit fruit grown by my own hands. Relax, and I'll examine you with a different method," he said softly, addressing the bird and the two cultivators beside him.
The Thunder Winged-Bird sniffed the fragrant scent of the peach and swallowed it in one bite.
Seeing this, Lu Chen's tense heart finally eased.
He knew that if he couldn't complete this feeding process, he wouldn't be able to understand the bird's abnormal condition.
Although he had read extensively about beast taming, his knowledge was mostly theoretical. Facing this mysterious and challenging case, his chances of success without employing his unique abilities were slim.
As he focused his mind on the bird's body, a sudden thought flashed through his brain.
【Thunder Qi Seed: A seed formed by the Thunder Qi Grass, a Fifth-Ranked Spirit Herb, absorbing an abundance of primordial thunder qi. It contains a rich and mysterious qi, which can aid cultivators or magical beasts in breaking through their cultivation realms. However, improper refinement can lead to damage to one's spiritual and demonic energy.】
"Thunder Qi Seed... Thunder Qi Grass? Is this the cause of the Thunder Winged-Bird's lethargy?"
Lu Chen marveled inwardly, as this was the first time he had heard of this so-called Thunder Qi Grass.
Though filled with curiosity, he knew that resolving the present issue took precedence.
He opened his eyes and stood before Qi Wuhe and Lei Zheng.
"Friend Lu, have you discovered anything?"
The elegant cultivator's face held a hint of anticipation. Although multiple examinations had failed to uncover the issue with the magical beast, Lu Chen's arrival rekindled his hope.
"Senior, I dare to ask if you have fed this Thunder Winged-Bird any special spirit items in the distant past? Perhaps something of a relatively high rank?"
Lu Chen inquired.
"Indeed, there is such a matter," Qi Wuhe replied, a thoughtful expression on his face.
"During my travels in the Vast Realm, I obtained a unique spirit fruit called the Thunder Qi Seed. It is said that consuming it can slightly increase the chances of a cultivator or magical beast breaking through to the Golden Core or Fifth-Rank. Upon my return, I fed it to the Thunder Winged-Bird."
"Then that must be it," Lu Chen said, his acting skills impeccable as he feigned a thoughtful expression.
"I recall reading about a Fifth-Ranked Spirit Herb called the Thunder Qi Grass in a certain ancient text. The Thunder Qi Seed is the fruit that forms from this herb."
"It contains a mysterious and unique qi. When consumed, this qi must be refined; otherwise, it can cause harm to one's spiritual and demonic energy."
He skillfully referenced the so-called ancient text.
"I see, so to speak, the Thunder Winged-Bird's abnormal condition is simply due to an upset stomach?"
"You could say that," Lu Chen nodded emphatically. Consuming spirit fruits or elixirs improperly could indeed have negative consequences, even for a Fourth-Ranked magical beast.
Qi Wuhe was largely convinced by Lu Chen's explanation.
The fact that he had fed the Thunder Qi Seed to the Thunder Winged-Bird was unknown to others, and Lu Chen's inquiry after examining the bird indicated that he had likely identified the root of the problem.
"Thank you, Friend Lu. If not for you, I fear I would have remained clueless about the cause of my companion's condition for a long time."
Qi Wuhe expressed his gratitude with a respectful bow.
"As for the special qi from the Thunder Qi Seed that has fused with the Thunder Winged-Bird's body, I will think of a way to refine it as soon as possible."
He said with a smile.
"Certainly, Senior. Here's to wishing the Thunder Winged-Bird a speedy recovery."
Though Lu Chen had identified the issue, he was clueless about refining the special qi within the Thunder Winged-Bird's body. Moreover, Qi Wuhe wouldn't entrust such a task to a mere late-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator, thus relieving Lu Chen of any burdens.
"I didn't expect your beast-taming skills to be so remarkable, Friend Lu."
The three of them exited and arrived at a serene courtyard.
Qi Wuhe's eyes shone with admiration as he looked at Lu Chen.
The issue that had plagued him for so long was effortlessly resolved by Lu Chen, and his respect for the younger cultivator grew significantly.
