Chapter 594: Give It Up, Zeff Teacher
Chapter 594: Give It Up, Zeff Teacher
The man soaking in the hot spring behind Kuro was none other than the former Admiral who had left the Navy—‘Kuzan’.
“Don’t say it like that. Everyone has their own way of doing things,” Kuzan said with a smile.
Kuro rolled his eyes. “Give me a break. I don’t get you at all. Intelligence confirms you’re involved in the Final Battle. What exactly are you planning, and under what authority are you acting, Kuzan?”
“My authority?”
Kuzan chuckled lightly. “Justice’s Partner? Not quite, considering I’ve allied with pirates. But I have my reasons. Leaving the World Government might let me see justice from a different angle.”
“No wonder you’re the disciple of that old man Zeffold. He’s stubborn, and you’ve got a screw loose too.”
“Spare me, Kuro. I didn’t come here to be lectured by you.”
Kuzan pulled his other arm out of the water, resting his head on both hands. “I came to you because only you can stop Zeff Teacher’s actions.”
“Huh?”
Kuro furrowed his brow. “Aren’t you supposed to find Luffy?”
“Luffy?”
Kuzan blinked. “You mean Luffy? Huh, strange. Why would I go looking for him?”
This caught Kuro off guard.
Right… why was he chasing that Luffy?
It didn’t seem to have anything to do with him.
This was Navy business.
What did a pirate have to do with it?
Going after the Navy was the most normal thing for Kuzan to do.
“You could handle it yourself, couldn’t you? That old man Zeff’s strong, but with your abilities, you should have no problem,” Kuro said.
Kuzan’s powers like Explosive Rock’s Explosion were useless against Kuro’s abilities.
“I don’t have a reason to. I’m just a lost soul now. You, on the other hand, are still Navy,” Kuzan replied.
Kuro exhaled a puff of smoke, shifting his posture in the hot spring. “Relax. Two islands—Gramps and I will each guard one side. Nothing’ll go wrong. I’m not the kind of guy who puts all his eggs in one basket.”
“By the way,” Kuro added, “Headquarters asked me to ask you—what the heck have you been up to lately? I need to report back.”
“Ara, you’re just going to ask me straight up? No subtle probing?” Kuzan scratched his head.
“Cut the crap. We don’t need games. Honestly, I don’t care what you’re up to or why. But if you can share something, do me a favor and make my job easier. Don’t make things hard for me. What were you planning to do at Blackbeard’s place?”
“Hey, jumping straight to the point already? I can’t tell you that just yet,” Kuzan said, standing up and exhaling. “I’ve waited until you’re practically soaked to the bone. Let’s talk outside.”
“Stay put. The old man hasn’t finished soaking yet.”
Kuro raised his hand, clenching it slightly. Suddenly, the hot spring water in Kuzan’s pool surged upward, submerging him.
The water swirled as Kuzan surfaced again, wiping his face in shock. “Hey, your powers have gotten this strong now? Scary…”
“Cut the jokes, Kuzan. It’s just manipulating water through air. You could do the same, right?” Kuro scoffed.
Kuzan fell silent, then smiled bitterly. “That old man… if possible, don’t kill him.”
“It depends on what he does. I’ve got a rough idea of his true goal. If he won’t change his mind, I’ll have to oblige him.”
Kuro sighed. “Kuzan, if you meet that old man first, try to talk him out of it. We can ignore Explosive Rock—he can use it to fight pirates or blow up their islands. Just don’t stir trouble at the End Point.”
“I’ll pass the message along—if I meet him.”
Kuzan glanced at Kuro. “You’ve faced him before. He’s still as strong as ever, right, Kuro?”
Kuro closed his eyes, a faint smile on his lips. “He’s a stubborn old fool, but his combat power hasn’t changed. Just… as strange as you are.”
“As strange as me?”
Kuzan blinked, then chuckled bitterly. “As lost as me?”
The air fell silent.
Splash.
After a while, Kuro stood up from the pool, walking away with his back to Kuzan.
“Remember to pass on any intelligence you can share. I need to report. As for you… I’ll pretend I never saw you. If you’re not Navy anymore, stay out of our way. You’re a pain.”
“Ara, I’m your former comrade. So cold!”
Kuzan shrugged, letting Kuro leave. He rested his head on his arms, his gaze distant, lost in thought.
After leaving the hot spring facility, Kuro pulled out a Transponder Snail and made a call.
“Kuro? That you?”
Storbery answered.
Of course, he wouldn’t call Gramps. Who knew when that old fool might pick up the wrong call.
“Brother, tell Gramps to come directly to Kazanosen. That stubborn old man will definitely show up there,” Kuro said.
“Understood. Anything else?”
Kuro paused. “No need to bring others. Tell Gramps—just send all of that smelly old man’s disciples. If nothing goes wrong, we’ll see him off on his final journey.”
Kuzan had already passed on enough intelligence. The old man’s next destination was definitely here.
No need to split the watch anymore.
All disciples would gather to send him off with the full honor of an Admiral and Navy mentor.
After all, the old man’s grand gesture… was just a cry for death.
Before he dies, meeting his beloved disciples once more… wasn’t that fitting?
That’s how Kuro saw it.
…
At dusk, in the Grand Line.
A black fleet sailed silently.
Inside the cabin, Neonavy members huddled together, their faces weary.
On the deck, Zeff sat beside the mast, his sunglasses hiding his eyes.
Ai En stood before him, her expression filled with concern for the elderly man.
“The End of the World.”
“If I truly vanish.”
“The Grand Line, which knows all, will guide the way.”
A faint, echoing chant seemed to ripple through the world.
The fleet approached an uninhabited beach, landing unnoticed.
Zeff glanced at the towering cliff ahead, smirking as he strode upward.
At the cliff’s peak, a figure in a coat and hat stood with his back to him, humming the same song.
“I’ve never liked this song. A ballad glorifying Navy’s sacrifices… so dull.”
Kuzan turned, tossing a bottle of wine. “Long time no see, Zeff Teacher.”
Pak!
Zeff caught it one-handed, glancing at the label—his favorite sherry.
“I’ve taken up your habit of drinking it. It’s pretty cool.”
Kuzan paused. “Zeff Teacher… give it up.”
