Dong Yan had no mood to pick out lingerie. She asked her daughter, "Do you still want to buy? If not, let’s go?"
Gu Yue couldn’t bear to buy anything in front of Jiang Xia. Without comparison, there was no hurt, but both the watch and her figure were a source of pain!
She hurriedly said, "I didn’t find anything I like."

He was going to his father-in-law’s house, planning to drive Jiang Dong’s car back to Cun Li.
But he didn’t expect to see Gu Heng standing downstairs.
Gu Heng sensed someone behind him and turned to see Zhao Cheng Lei.
He was surprised for a moment, then nodded, "What a coincidence. You’re the lover of Jiang Xia, Gu Yue’s roommate, right? Weren’t you in the Capital City?"
Zhao Cheng Lei replied, "I’m not from the Capital City. I came back for something."
Gu Heng nodded and explained, "I’m here on a business trip. I have a friend here."
Zhao Cheng Lei said, "Oh, did you find them? Which company? I can help ask around."
Gu Heng replied, "I found them, but they’ve already moved. I was just about to leave. I’ll be off then!"
Zhao Cheng Lei nodded and headed for Jiang Xia’s floor.
Gu Heng also left, walking a few meters before turning back to see Zhao Cheng Lei going upstairs.
That confirmed he had the right place.
But he didn’t want to show up in front of Zhao Cheng Lei.
Upstairs, outside the Jiang family’s door, Jiang Mother opened the door and was surprised to see Zhao Cheng Lei.
Zhao Cheng Lei greeted her, "Mom."
Jiang Mother smiled, "You’re back? Have you eaten? There’s some leftover food in the pot."
Zhao Cheng Lei had mentioned he would be back today and needed to borrow Jiang Dong’s car to drive home.
Zhao Cheng Lei said, "I ate on the plane. Mom, are you not at work yet?"
He knew his father-in-law was on a business trip and wouldn’t be back until tonight.
"About to go, but I was waiting for you. I’ll heat up some food for you. The food on the plane can’t be very filling", Jiang Mother turned into the house, took off her shoes, and put on slippers.
Zhao Cheng Lei said, "No need, I’m not hungry. Mom, go to work! Xia Xia bought some clothes for you and Dad."
Zhao Cheng Lei placed a travel bag on the sofa and another on the cabinet by the door.
One bag contained clothes and toys that Jiang Xia had bought for Zhou Father, Zhou Mother, and their nieces and nephews, along with some exercise books.
"It’s fine, I’m not in a hurry." As the factory manager, she had the freedom to manage her time and wasn’t worried about being late.
"Why did you buy so many clothes? It’s a waste of money! Things in the Capital City are expensive."
Jiang Mother went to the kitchen to heat up food for Zhao Cheng Lei.
Zhao Cheng Lei didn’t refuse. He followed her to the kitchen, washed his hands, and then came back to the window to look outside. The figure was almost out of the alley.
"Mom, I’ll call Xia Xia."
"Go ahead!"
Zhao Cheng Lei picked up the phone and dialed.
When the call connected, Jiang Xia’s clear and pleasant voice came through, "Hello."
Zhao Cheng Lei recognized her immediately, "It’s me. I’m home. Have you eaten?"
"Yes, I ate with Xiao Yan at the Capital City Grand Hotel. Did you eat?"
"Yes, Mom is heating up food for me again. Are the kids behaving?"
"Yes, they’re well-behaved. They’re sleeping now. Otherwise, I would let them hear your voice."
Zhao Chenglei’s lips curled up. “I’ll call again before I come back tomorrow.”
“Alright. Go eat! I’m going to take a nap; I’m tired from shopping.”
“Alright.” Zhao Chenglei hung up after Jiang Xia did.
Jiang Mother turned on the stove to reheat the food for Zhao Chenglei. She then came out and said, “Your father and I bought some formula, clothes, and toys for the children, as well as some clothes for Xiaxia and Jiang Dong. You’re going back the day after tomorrow, right? Take them with you then. We’ve also packed your clothes and Xiaxia’s together in the suitcase.”
As she spoke, she went to the room and pulled out the suitcase.
Zhao Chenglei said, “You can buy anything in Capital City, Mom. You don’t need to buy it next time; we can get it ourselves.”
“It was just a convenient thing to do. There are also some snacks inside. Your father and I can’t eat that much, so take some home for your parents and your nephew.”
Jiang Mother then pulled the suitcase back into Jiang Xia’s room. “You can come and get this suitcase when you leave tomorrow. There’s a bag of snacks; take them home too.”
“Alright.”
Jiang Mother added, “Is everything going well in Capital City? Are the children behaving? Are they adjusting well?”
Jiang Xia and Jiang Dong had both called home, so she knew everything was fine, and the children were well-behaved.
“Yes, everything is going smoothly. The children are very well-behaved. They’re so young; they eat, play for an hour or two, and then sleep, so they don’t have any trouble adjusting.”
They talked for a while longer. Jiang Mother estimated that the food was ready, so she went to bring it out.
Zhao Chenglei quickly went in to help.
After they brought out the food, Jiang Mother said, “Eat slowly. The car keys are on the cabinet. Just leave the dishes there; Aunt Feng will clean up in the evening. I’m going to work now.”
“Alright,” Zhao Chenglei replied.
Jiang Mother left.
Zhao Chenglei finished his meal, tidied up the dishes, washed them, and then took the car keys and left.
Zhao Chenglei didn’t go straight home. He went to the factory first, as Jiang Xia had requested, to resolve some issues before returning home.
By the time he got home, it was almost dark.
The family was preparing to have dinner.
Everyone knew Zhao Chenglei was coming back today, so the main house family also came over for dinner.
The children pounced on Zhao Chenglei, surrounding him.
“Uncle, did Auntie and the little ones not come back?”
“No, but Auntie bought you some things.” Zhao Chenglei brought the luggage bag inside and took out the clothes for Zhou Father and Zhou Mother.
He then handed the bag to the children. “Divide it among yourselves! No fighting.”
The children cheered, but they still missed Auntie.
“Uncle, why didn’t Auntie and the little ones come back?”
“Auntie has classes and is busy. She’ll be back next month.”
Zhou Ying asked, “Is it National Day? But Dad said he would take us to Capital City to see Auntie and the little ones during National Day.”
Zhou Chengsen replied, “I said I would take you only if the little ones don’t come back. If they do, I won’t take you.”
The children were disappointed.
Zhou Wenzu said, “Uncle, you’re doing this on purpose. You must know Auntie is coming back for National Day.”
Zhou Chengsen said, “They didn’t say anything before, so how would I know?”
The children looked at Zhao Chenglei.
Zhao Chenglei said, “There will be plenty of other opportunities. You can go during winter break. It snows in Capital City in winter, and you can see the snow.”
The children perked up with a new sense of anticipation.
