Chapter 592: Obito: It's On?
Chapter 592: Obito: It's On?
As the sun slowly sank towards the west, the training session in the Southern Forest was coming to an end.
Obito glanced at Rin Nohara, who was being instructed by Minato Namikaze, before walking over to where Kakashi Hatake was sitting.
"Kakashi, you don't seem to be in a good state today," Obito said with feigned concern. "If you're feeling too tired, you can reduce your training intensity. We all know your body isn't as robust."
Kakashi, who had been refining his chakra, opened his eyes and looked at Obito expressionlessly.
Initially, he had intended to challenge Maito Guy, the strongest member of their team, to test the progress he had made with the Yang Seal.
Now, however, he changed his mind and decided to teach Obito a lesson first.
With his mastery of the Lightning Chakra Mode, he was slightly stronger than Obito, but due to his limited chakra, a mistake could give Obito an opportunity to turn the tables.
Therefore, Obito's strength was sufficient for a test.
"So, Obito, you must be pretty strong now," Kakashi said, issuing a battle invitation. "I'd like to see your current strength."
"Umm..." Obito hesitated.
"No, I don't feel like fighting lately," he refused, making up an excuse.
He felt he had a low chance of winning and saw no point in fighting Kakashi at this moment.
"If you win, I'll destroy all the photos," Kakashi said calmly.
He knew Obito too well; a regular battle with a high probability of losing wasn't enticing to Obito.
But if there was something Obito cared about on the line, he would take the gamble, as even a small chance of winning was still a chance.
"You have to tell me what photos first," Obito said, his interest piqued, but wary of Kakashi's wordplay.
Kakashi took out the photo of Obito with a distorted expression from his ninja tool pouch and said calmly, "This one. If you win, I'll destroy it, leaving not a single copy."
"Alright, I understand," Obito said hastily as he leaned forward to help Kakashi put the photo back, preventing others from seeing it.
And so, a friendly sparring match was set.
The training session was coming to an end anyway, and the other disciples gathered around, intrigued by the upcoming battle.
"We'll only compare our base strengths; no summoning jutsu is allowed," Obito emphasized before the fight began.
Charizard was at a disadvantage against Kakashi's Wolverrein, so the clever Obito proposed the rule of banning summoning to increase his chances of victory.
"I know," Kakashi nodded calmly.
He was testing the Yang Seal, so such rules didn't matter to him.
"I must win!" Obito took a deep breath, his eyes gleaming with determination.
This battle was of utmost importance to Obito—a matter of life and death.
If he won, the photo that could socially ruin him would be destroyed, but if he lost, Kakashi would continue to hold that power over him.
"Let the battle begin!" Mu Yue declared as she acted as the referee for the match, seeing that both of them were ready.
As soon as Mu Yue's words fell, both of them focused on enhancing their physical abilities with their breathing, and Obito even activated his Sharingan.
Although maintaining the Sharingan would consume a significant amount of chakra, its powerful insight would grant Obito greater error tolerance, making it harder for Kakashi to exploit his weaknesses.
The most crucial factor was that Obito had more chakra than Kakashi, and against an opponent like Kakashi, he didn't need to conserve it too much since Kakashi's endurance in prolonged battles was inferior.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Kakashi didn't immediately activate the Yang Seal but instead threw several shuriken at Obito in a conventional manner.
Clang! Clang!
Obito threw the same number of shuriken, each one precisely colliding with Kakashi's and successfully intercepting the attack.
A smug smile appeared on Obito's face as shuriken was a discipline he had excelled in since his ninja school days, and with the Sharingan's boost, such maneuvers were effortless for him.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
Kakashi ran while forming hand seals, creating two shadow clones.
"Clones? Watch me burn them all at once!"
"Fire Style: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet!"
Obito took a slight step back and gathered a large amount of chakra in his throat, spewing out a massive blaze.
"Earth Style: Earth Flow Wall!"
Kakashi swiftly formed hand seals, erecting a thick earthen wall in front of him.
The raging inferno left charred marks on the wall but failed to breach its defense.
Obito maintained his chakra output, quietly manipulating the flames to part and coalesce into three fire dragons, each attacking from the sides and top of the wall.
Just at that moment, three Kakashis suddenly rushed out from behind the wall, using the gaps in the fire dragons' attacks to dodge and then charge straight at Obito.
Obito's expression remained unchanged, as he had anticipated this.
Kakashi, with his mastery of the Transparent World, could see through the earthen wall, something that Obito couldn't do with his own vision.
So, it was no surprise that Kakashi could see Obito's fire dragons and react immediately.
"Breath of Flames Chakra Mode!"
Obito focused his breathing to the extreme and instantly entered the Breath of Flames Chakra Mode.
"Flame Vortex!"
Obito brought his hands together, and a mass of flames rapidly shot out, surrounding the three approaching Kakashis and forming a vortex of fire that quickly shrank.
"Bold and meticulous, Obito has really grown a lot," Minato praised.
This attack was obviously a result of Obito's planning and not just a lucky break.
Minato felt that as long as the opponent's strength wasn't far superior to Obito's and they didn't know his abilities, most ninjas in the ninja world would fall for this move.
The Breath of Flames Chakra Mode's rapid release of the Breath of Flames had a significant advantage in one-on-one situations.
Boom! Boom!!
The three Kakashis, entangled in flames, all turned into white smoke before everyone's eyes.
"Hey, they were all Shadow Clones," Yamato exclaimed in surprise.
He had just been worried that Kakashi might be seriously injured if hit by such a fire-style jutsu, but it turned out that all three Kakashis were clones.
The next moment, a hand silently reached out from behind Obito.
Whoosh!
Obito moved swiftly, causing Kakashi's hand to miss.
Having realized that Obito had seen through his strategy, Kakashi didn't hesitate at all. He immediately burst into action, surging his chakra and lunging at Obito with his hand raised.
Buzz! Buzz!!
Dazzling purple lightning appeared in Kakashi's palm, transforming it into a purple lightning blade.
"Fire Style: Flame Punch!"
Obito compressed the flames into a fist and threw a fire punch to meet Kakashi's lightning palm.
Crackle! Crackle!!
Purple arcs of electricity and fiery sparks flew in all directions, followed by a powerful explosion.
The impact sent both Obito and Kakashi stumbling backward.
"Hehe, Kakashi, this time I've seen through all your intentions. I'd like to see how you plan to win now," Obito thought with immense satisfaction.
Although it seemed like an even match, he actually had the upper hand.
Kakashi's ability to sustain combat was weaker than his, so as long as he dragged this out, victory would be his.
What pleased Obito the most was that he had successfully predicted each of Kakashi's attacks.
Kakashi used to say that he was all brawn and no brain, and now he wanted to see what Kakashi would say after losing this time.
"Three Shadow Clones and one Purple Electricity. I'd like to see how many more attacks you can pull off," Obito thought to himself as he silently calculated Kakashi's remaining chakra.
The Earth Flow Wall didn't consume much chakra, but the Purple Electricity did.
Right after that, Obito deactivated the Breath of Flames Chakra Mode.
Using both the Sharingan and the Breath of Flames Chakra Mode together was too extravagant; usually, using one of them was enough.
"Earth Style: Stone Pillar Spear!"
Kakashi, whom Obito believed was about to lose, maintained his previous offensive rhythm and immediately launched another attack.
Kakashi didn't use the Lightning Chakra Mode, but he utilized a variety of other abilities.
These different lightning and earth-style jutsu, combined with high-speed sword techniques, gave Obito a hard time, but they still couldn't knock him down.
The corners of Obito's mouth turned up higher.
"Haha, after using so many ninjutsu, even if he enters the Lightning Chakra Mode next, he won't have enough chakra left for any more jutsu." Obito laughed inwardly, already envisioning his victory.
In his opinion, Kakashi had underestimated him in this battle, treating him like the Obito of the past and misjudging his ability to handle pressure.
"Let me teach you a painful lesson."
"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"
Obito opened his mouth and spat out a huge fireball at Kakashi, who had exhausted most of his chakra. Now it was Kakashi's turn to be on the defensive.
Whoosh!
Facing the oncoming fireball, Kakashi chose to use the Instant Body Technique to dodge.
But Obito was relentless, surging his chakra and giving chase.
In an instant, the tide of the battle turned, with the attacker becoming the defender.
"Not necessarily," Might Guy shook his head. "Kakashi hasn't used his Lightning Chakra Mode yet."
He believed that this time, Kakashi would emerge victorious.
And if asked why, he would simply say it was a best friend's intuition!
"Breath of Flames Chakra Mode!"
Taking advantage of his opponent's weakness, Obito once again entered the Breath of Flames Chakra Mode, intending to go all out and defeat Kakashi within two minutes.
Facing the aggressive Obito, Kakashi pressed his palms together, his ring and pinky fingers locked, while the other three fingers were extended and overlapped in the sign of the tiger seal.
"Yang Seal: Release!"
As Kakashi unlocked the Yang Seal, the vast amount of chakra sealed within automatically activated his Lightning Chakra Mode, causing his body to undergo a tremendous enhancement, and his aura continued to surge.
"Hmm?" Obito sensed something amiss.
While the Sharingan couldn't perceive chakra as precisely as the Byakugan, it was still adequate for a general assessment.
"Something's not right. How could Kakashi possibly have this much chakra? Where did he get so much from?"
Obito stared at the massive amount of chakra erupting from Kakashi's body, astonished and perplexed.
Was this the same Kakashi who had exhausted himself after a single swing of his blade? Obito wanted to report Kakashi for cheating; how could someone increase their chakra so drastically in such a short time?
"Hahaha, my dear friend indeed!" Might Guy laughed heartily, his arms crossed.
"I must prepare an even stronger move for my dear friend," he thought.
Recently, Might Guy had been planning to utilize all his taijutsu knowledge to create a brand-new technique, one that could only be executed in the Rock Chakra Mode with the Sixth Gate of the Eight Inner Gates.
While the Mu Yue Sect's taijutsu was exceptional, Might Guy believed that creating his own techniques also held significant value.
After all, no one understood his body better than himself, and the jutsu he developed would undoubtedly suit him perfectly.
Moreover, when he grew older, he could pass on these techniques to his disciples.
Kakashi drew out the White Fang from his back. He stepped forward with his right foot, sliding his left foot backward, and simultaneously tilted his body to the left.
"Lightning Flash: Godspeed!"
Dazzling yellow lightning erupted from Kakashi's body, and he surged forward like a true lightning bolt.
Sensing something amiss, Obito had already started retreating, but the distance was too short for Obito to escape Kakashi's burst of speed.
"Fire Style: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet!"
Obito had no choice but to rely on the boost from the Breath of Flames Chakra Mode, rapidly burning his chakra to convert it into fire-attribute chakra. He unleashed a massive blaze, intending to block Kakashi's approach.
"Blade of No Thought!"
Violet lightning crackled from Kakashi's palms, flowing into the White Fang and transforming it into a violet katana.
Crackle! Crackle!
A crisp sound of lightning reverberated, and a dazzling violet slash of light flashed by, slicing through Kakashi's flames and causing them to dissipate instantly.
Boom!
Before anyone could comprehend the reason behind Kakashi's astonishing prowess, Obito collapsed to the ground, a charred mark from lightning adorning his chest.
However, when they looked at the ground in front of Obito, they realized that Kakashi had shown mercy.
A charred furrow had been etched into the earth before Obito.
If Kakashi's strike had landed squarely on Obito, they might have ended up with two halves of him.
"Amazing! Such an attack might even be beyond Byakuya," Minato Namikaze thought in awe.
Considering single-attack prowess, Minato felt that Byakuya might not necessarily surpass the current Kakashi.
Of course, in terms of overall strength, Kakashi still had some way to go, as a ninja's true strength was determined by their comprehensive abilities, not just raw power.
Nonetheless, Minato found this display astonishing, especially considering that Kakashi was only eleven years old, not twenty-one.
"Kakashi wins," Mu Yue announced the outcome of the battle.
For Mu Yue, who knew everything, this had been a battle without any suspense.
With the mastery of the Yang Seal, a fully-powered Kakashi was on a whole other level compared to Obito.
Kakashi had always been restricted by his chakra capacity, and the additional chakra from the Yang Seal meant everything to him.

I'm turning into dried tangerine peel.
It's already 3:30, and I've barely managed to finish this.
