Chapter 592: Learning Apparition
Chapter 592: Learning Apparition
Nearly the entire school was abuzz with talk about the Dueling Club. Perhaps some students from wizarding families had heard of wizard duels, but they had certainly never witnessed one. Undoubtedly, the emergence of the Dueling Club brought a sense of novelty and excitement to everyone.
After spending a day in Hogsmeade, participating in an interesting gathering like the Dueling Club would undoubtedly add to the fun.
Of course, they didn't know beforehand that this Dueling Club was organized by Gilderoy Lockhart.
Isobel arrived a little later than expected. As the two of them exited the Great Hall, they saw Filch, wrapped up warmly, standing at the castle gate with a list in hand, checking off names.
The caretaker's temper hadn't changed; he glared disapprovingly at the playful crowd.
"Let's go, we should get in line too."
Albert pulled his cloak tightly around himself, donned his gloves, and used his scarf to cover most of his face. Only after signing his name did he walk out of the castle alongside Isobel.
There was a light snow falling from the sky, and the wind blew against their faces, freezing the exposed parts of their skin. They trudged through the snowy mud, heads down, toward Hogsmeade.
"Do you have any plans for today?"
"No, if you have something to discuss, go ahead." Albert caught the underlying meaning in the girl's words.
"Yes, I do." Isobel nodded and asked, "You've mastered Apparition, right?"
"Apparition?" Albert raised an eyebrow. "You know we're not supposed to use magic outside of school!"
"Usually, after the start of a new term, the school offers Apparition lessons."
"Oh, I almost forgot. You'll be of age next year." Albert couldn't help but sigh. "You'll be old enough to get married."
"If the girls heard you, they'd be heartbroken." Isobel smiled and reached out to loop her arm through Albert's. "In their hearts, you're the perfect boyfriend."
"Let's not talk about the perfect boyfriend thing. I don't think that persona suits me." With his overpowered golden finger in this life, Albert intended to live comfortably and do what felt right for him.
"That sounds just like something you'd say." Isobel laughed. "I plan to take the Apparition test next year."
"You want me to teach you?" Albert frowned as he brought up the subject. He could use Apparition himself, but he didn't know how to teach others and rarely used Apparition himself, so he wasn't very familiar with it.
"No, of course not. Uncle Mog will come and teach me." Isobel shook her head in explanation. "By the way, how's your plan to find two or three girlfriends going?"
"Come on, let's not bring that up again. It's been a long time, and it's one of my rare embarrassing moments, especially since you know about it." Albert felt a bit embarrassed. This was one of his few "black history" moments, especially since Isobel was aware of it.
"Katrina is nice too. If it weren't for me, you two might have become a couple." Isobel continued, "As for Louise, the young lady from France, she's supposed to be a beautiful woman with Veela blood. If she weren't so far away, it might have worked out."
"How do you know Louise has Veela blood?" Albert asked in surprise, as he didn't recall mentioning this to her.
"Uncle Mog said the Drakul family has Veela blood."
"Oh." Albert nodded. "Louise is indeed very beautiful, but unfortunately, no matter how beautiful she is, she can't resist the erosion of time."
"You're so annoying." Isobel turned her head, a little unhappy.
Women generally disliked talking about aging.
Hectork had provided them with Sacrisa Tagwood's notes, but they hadn't made much progress with the Elixir of Youth. However, this was only to be expected.
Along the way to Hogsmeade, they saw students wrapped up warmly, as the winter this year was exceptionally cold. Venturing out to Hogsmeade was less appealing than staying cozy inside the castle by the fire with a cup of tea.
Albert asked curiously, "But it's surprising that Mr. Mog has the time to come and teach you."
"I find it surprising too." Isobel steered the conversation back to the topic at hand. "But is Apparition easy to learn? I'm curious as to how you managed to learn it so quickly."
"At first, Apparition feels very uncomfortable, and you need to gradually get used to the discomfort it brings." Albert chose his words carefully as he described to the girl his process of learning Apparition.
"It's incredible."
Isobel always had the feeling that Albert was pulling her leg. How could someone just learn Apparition so casually?
As they approached Hogsmeade, Albert noticed a large, looming shadow making its way towards them.
"What are you doing here?"
Albert looked up at the approaching figure, recognizing Hagrid with snowflakes on his eyebrows and beard, donning his massive and shabby beaver coat, and carrying a covered cage in his hand, containing who knows what.
"Weren't you looking for a Dark creature?" Hagrid patted the cage in his hand and said with a smile, "I had Aberforth get me a Grindylow, you know, less dangerous Dark creatures aren't that rare, they're just harder to come by in winter."
"Thanks for the trouble, how much was it?"
"It's not worth much, just a few Galleons." Hagrid lowered his voice, "Come over later, and I'll tell you something interesting. First, I must find a tank to keep it in, or it'll freeze to death."
After taking a few steps forward, Hagrid stopped again and turned, "By the way, that thing you gave me last time was useful, but a bit fragile. I accidentally crushed it. Bring me another one when you come over next time."
Saying this, Hagrid waved and walked away.
"A Detection Ball?"
"Yes, I just didn't expect him to spend money on it." As the two entered Hogsmeade, Albert suddenly spoke, "Hagrid really cares about that matter."
"If I were him, I'd care too."
"Let's go to the Three Broomsticks for a drink first." Albert and the girl turned into the pub. It was too cold today, and he wanted to warm up with a hot drink.
When Albert returned to the table with two cups of hot butterbeer, he saw Mr. Mog sitting next to Isobel.
"Are you in a hurry?"
"Yes, our schedule is quite full today." Mr. Mog nodded.
"So, it's not just about the Apparition training." Albert asked tentatively, "Did you find me for something else?"
"Not entirely, we'll talk later." Mr. Mog poured himself a glass of hot whiskey and pushed it towards Albert with a smile, "Would you like a drink?"
"Never mind, to be honest, I'm not that interested in drinking."
"Not interested?" Mr. Mog winked at Albert, "The sweet wine you gave to Bitt is quite good. I hope you don't mind that I took some. My wife loves it and thinks it's perfect for eggnog. Next time, we should invite you for a drink."
Noticing Isobel staring at him, Albert coughed lightly and corrected, "It's just a beverage."
"That sweet wine could definitely sell for a good price if you wanted." Mr. Mog took a sip of the hot whiskey and lowered his voice, "If you ever need help with the workload, we can lend a hand. Or if you don't want to manage it, we can just split the profits."
"That's a bit unexpected, I didn't think you'd pay attention to it."
"No one would say no to more Galleons." Mr. Mog mumbled, "And it would bring us closer together."
"Yeah, we can talk about it later, it's not going anywhere."
"A Christmas gift? You always surprise me." Isobel said softly, and after finishing the warm butterbeer, she felt much warmer.
"Come with me!"
Mr. Mog called out to the two after they finished their drinks and smiled.
"Today, I'll teach you some social etiquette. I don't know if you've learned any, but you should at least know how to dance and some other things." Mr. Mog said with a smile, "Oh, don't make that face. Socializing and networking will be useful for you in the future, and it won't hurt to learn more."
The two followed Mr. Mog along a small path to a secluded house on the outskirts of Hogsmeade.
"By the way, take this, you might need it in the future." Mr. Mog casually handed a key to Albert and winked, "Of course, there's nothing here at the moment. But after Isobel graduates, you two can sneak over here for dates. It's not that hard to slip away from Hogwarts anyway."
Albert was left speechless and didn't know what to say.
However, he took the key silently, considering whether he should renovate the house. It wouldn't be a bad idea to come here for dates in the future.
